I found a shield. Any takers? I wouldn't ask, but its pretty good for early on. Also, is there anyway to fuse runes, like you can gems?

Yes. It's 3 runes to next rune, until you get past Thul. To make a Thul-->Amn, you begin needing gems.

And the ballad is over. You guys lagged out right when I logged in.
I is saddened greatly. :(
Is that uber diablo you were talking about?
Yeah, the one that drops Annihilus and is based on the sale of Stones of Jordan. Server-wide event.
It's one of those "bright ideas" that Blizzard had to reduce SoJ duping. Let's just say it doesn't work.
Per Cruise Control's orders, I have decided to compile a list of all socketed items that are worth being kept. I could give a reason why, but that might take awhile. Then again, nothing hurts, because I have been IPBanned temporarily from the realms.
Chances are, you won't have to worry about finding these in Normal, with a few exceptions. These are considered the most popular and high priority items. The major criterion are runewords. In all other instances, they should be requested to be kept, because keeping an eye for these [those that are mentioned] items will help out the group the most.
Ethereal and Superior also play a role in certain items. When ethereal applies to armors, it is considered "for mercenaries." This is not always the case, however, as Ethereal affects weapons and Indestructible runewords, making them even better!
Rune words link!
And the other one.
Any three socketed Exceptional or Elite helm. Can be used most frequently by Dream, (Io Jah Pul) and Delirium (Lem Ist Io). Two socketed helms are very easy to find, so noth worth mentioning. Lore (Ort Sol), that it is! Barbarian Helms and Druid Helms are less popular variants on the Lore, and are class-only.
Any three or four socketed armor, with a defense rating of at least 425-450+, and of the following classification: Mage Plate (preferably above 250 defense), Dusk Shroud or Archon Plate. Also acceptable are (in order or priority), Wire Fleece, Boneweaves, Scarab Husks, and Wyrmhides. These are found in frequently used runewords, such as Fortitude (El Sol Dol Lo; the Mercenary must), Chains of Honor (Dol Um Ber Ist), and the ever-popular Enigma (Jah Ith Ber). These armors also have the property of being worth a high rune.
Four socketed Monarch shield. Those of the higher Strengths are often considered "too high" for most effective spellcaster builds. Monarchs are the lowest requirements of the shields that can support four sockets. The only reason is for Spirit (Tal Thul Ort Amn), a cheap yet effective runeword.
The next topic, Paladin Shields, all take four sockets with a socketing quest. These critieria are 40+ resistance, because of Spirit (Tal Thul Ort Amn). However, Exile (Vex Ohm Ist Dol), takes ONLY Ethereal, Elite Paladin Shields. The criteria is the Knight's prefix (+52% enhanced damage), or the Chromatic prefix (+35-45 resistances).
Gloves, Boots, and Belts don't have sockets.
Three, four, five, or six socketed Ettin and Berzerker Axes. Small Cresents are also acceptable, but few popular weapon runewords are used with four sockets. The criteria in this case is damage. These armors also have the property of being worth multiple high runes.
Four socketed Hydra Bows. Diamond, Crusader, and Ward bows are also accepted. The criteria for these bows is damage.
On mentioning bows, I also bring up the Amazon bows, of which only four socketed Grand Matron bows are acceptable. This is because of the Faith runeword (Ohm Jah Lem Eld). These armors also have the property of being worth a high rune.
You can ignore Crossbows. They are not fast enough, and their requirements often too high. Also ignore Daggers and Javelins. In fact, I'm not even sure that they support any runewords.
Four or five socketed Flails. This is most popularly used with Hoto (Ko Vex Pul Thul) and Call to Arms (Amn Ral Mal Ist Ohm). These "caster" runewords are not recognized by Diablo II's runes system, as the note says, as are used because of their anemic requirements.
Four, five or six socketed
Crystal Swords, Phase Blades, and ETHEREAL Colossus Blades (not Colossus Swords!). These have the popular goody-goody-ness (along with Axes) of being able to support one-handed runewords, such as Last Wish (Jah Mal Jah Sur Jah Ber), Grief (Eth Tir Lo Mal Ral), BotD (Vex Hel El Eld Zod Eth), so on and so forth. Spirit (Tal Thul Ort Amn) and Silence (Dol Eld Hel Ist Tir Vex) are used as "caster" weapons, whilst Honor (Amn El Ith Tir Sol) is used in low-level-dueling. These armors also have the property of being worth multiple high runes (if in a severe demand; otherwise, only one high rune).
Ignore Scepters, Throwing items, Wands, Sorceress Orbs, and Necromancer Shrunken Heads.
Always keep ALL Four socketed Polearms. Always. Five sockets are also acceptable, in certain cases. Do I have to mention Insight (Ral Tir Tal Sol) and Infinity (Ber Mal Ber Ist)? Doom (Hel Ohm Um Lo Cham) is like sex, but better. Not an intentional reference to the video game of the same name.
Lastly, Assassin Katars only take three socketed Elite Claws, due to Chaos (Fal Ohm Um), but this class can largely be ignored.
EDIT: Well, I guess now is as good a time as any, Mulley.
This is REALLY gonna piss you off, Tav, but RebellionCraft the traps assassin was decommisioned WEEKS ago. That bitch really, REALLY sucked. So, I deleted her but yes, I just relealised that I had the private message you sent. Want to just say smurf it and move on with life, or do you still want me to send you my information?
Tav, you think I could get that Dream helm?
And maybe an Insight?
Additionally, could I ask that everyone keep an eye out for small charms with Lightning Res on them? My Lightning resists in Hell are abysmal.
Lored Barb-helms with +3 to BO can be very popular.
Don't forget Treachery (Shael Thul Lem), which is one of the best defensive armours in the game, and a damn sight cheaper than Fortitude, CoH or Enigma. The major disadvantage is it's lack of +ED%, but on characters like Amazons that's not much of a concern (plus it comes with 45%(!) IAS, which is the most IAS you can get besides a 4-fevored jewelled armour).
In most cases, a Crusader bow is preferrable to a Hydra Bow since the Minimum damage on a Crusader is more than a Hydra, and higher minimum damage is preferrable to a higher maximum damage if the average damage is the same (it's all maths apparently, but I have it on good authority that min damage is always better).
Don't put crossbows by the wayside so quickly! Shapeshifting Druids (and even Barbs if you're feeling fruity) can use Crossbows in their shifted form. With a high amount of IAS they can get as fast as many two-handed weapons. Anyone who's made a Buri druid will know the fun you can have. Javelin's don't support runewords, but Daggers do. Fanged Knives can have any "melee" runewords up to three sockets, and Legend Spikes can accomodate anything up to two sockets. Unfortunately most of the better weapon runewords are four sockets up.
Don't forget Oath. In an ethreal Scourge the damage is just sickening.
Don't discount Scepters, Wands and Shrunken Heads entirely. +3 Holy Shock scepters can be used with Holy Thunder for a rather chunky +6 to Holy Shock for Tesladins. Wands can accept White, which is the best runeword for any Bonemancer with the exception of a perfect Boneshade. Necro Heads can accept Rhyme, a rather neat MF/Mid-level caster shield.
It's not. I thought that you had made a new character recently, whose information I did not have (the ExiledRebellion account). However, if there is no new relevant information, this is fine by me; I'm just trying to update the player sheet.
Yeah, sure. I've got them on my mules. Is the Insight an Elite or an Exceptional version? And, I've also got plenty of resistance charms. I'll lend you a few.
To Maxx Power: I didn't include everything, because it was stated that things to be kept are the most popular, or community serving, being either the easiest to use (is ownage) or easiest to make (Spirit, anyone?. Ever since 1.10, many builds have been seriously depowered or unpopularized.
We don't really play too many Barbarians, so it's not really worth it to keep every BO helm that we see. By now, there are better options for lower characters, and Barbarian helms have littered the Ladder.
Yes, Threachery, not that I see it too often anymore. It would fall under the category of a reason to keep an armor.
It usually is, but with Strafe, this is mostly nulled out.
Crossbows have been seriously depowered since 1.09. Buriza is very unpopular now-a-days. The requirements are also too high, and if you plan on making a ranged weapon runeword, it won't work on Mercenaries. The Amazon could use Crossbows, but GM bows are far better the option.
Haven't seen too many Oath runewords around lately. These can also go into Berzerker Axes, which are just as sickening.
The thing is, these are rather easy to find, especially the Necromancer heads, and that if you kept all of them, it would saturate the Necromancers.
While all these points are somehow true, Maxx, there's alot of things that don't get accounted for anymore, since patch changes have messed things up, very few builds are viable in Hell. Compared to something, it's easier or more useful to obtain something else. Everything here is something that they should majorly keep, otherwise I would kill them. In other instances, I would only be saddened, but I can't make EVERYTHING (unless I start duping, which will not happen).
I just saw the stats for Silence...*drools*
...just trying to help... :(
