I would say this whole "cat vs dog argument" is pointless since every dog AND cat are different, which would make this "versus" argument endless... But as a dog person i must say that i like cats too, But dogs are more fun in my opinion.
I would probably go for a cat to be honest. Dogs are cool and fun but a lot more high maintenance, my current life - work - home schedule and balance would fit a cat more.

Their approach to the dog speaks all. No dog would come near my cat. She's start chasing them as soon as they came near our property line.
