C-C-C-C-C-C-COMBO BREAKER!!
..Replaying Chrono Trigger, just made it to the End of Time.
I thought I would be playing the sick new Alice as I got it from a friend, but the lil dummy forgot to include the disk.
Still Dark Souls... and Demon's Souls.... Just Dark Souls and Demon's Souls... Dark... Souls.... ...I need to go back to my cave now.
Gladiator Begins for PSP, until I can get my Shadow of Rome copy to work again. Also keep trying to play Persona 2: Innocent Sin to no avail.
Psychonauts for the PS3. I never got to pick this up when it first came out in 2005. Boy did I miss a great game. The camera kinda sucks and some of the platforming is annoying, but other than that it's a great game.
I am currently playing nothing. I am saving myself for the release of Baldur's Gate Enhanced Edition. It's going to be glorious.
I serve the Flaming Fist.
Just finished Prototype 2. It was pretty decent I have to say a good 7.5/10 game. I'm also playing Saints Row The Third & yesterday I caved in & bought Fallout New Vegas: Ultimate edition.
The sheer joy that came over me when I pressed the aim button in New Vegas & my character looked down the iron sights of the gun was kind of spectacular (for those who don't know one of my biggest complaints about Fallout 3 was the absence of iron sights from guns). Told myself I was only going to play it for 30mins just to try it out & 4 hours later I'm having trouble putting it down
The first one is the radio signal from a bunker talking about a casino, then honest hearts, which is the far north, then old world blues (by far the best) in the south, and finally the one near where you start. Be level 15 before you begin dlc.
I'm making my way through the original Medal of Honor for the PS1. I'm about 80% done.
not sure if spoilerYou can't continue playing after the story is over, it ends there and you either have to start over or load a previous save.
Finished Bastion today, and finished a play through of MGS4 late last night. The new complete install patch is a god send. My sister gave me Persona 4: Arena a bit early as she's missing my birthday in a couple of weeks.
Still working my way through FFX though the lack of skippable cut scenes is killing me when I just don't care some days.
I am playing so much World of Warcraft that it's silly. And yes, I do feel like a filthy casual.
I play League of Legends occasionally with friends. I play Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition 2012 competitively, so that is ongoing.
I gave Xenoblade a try a few weeks ago. I didn't like it enough to continue with it for now...
Watched some video reviews online that got me in the mood for old Rare games. As a result I am now playing Donkey Kong Country 2 and Banjo Kazooie.
Chrono Trigger
Those smurfing Twin Golems! I am trying to beat them with Confuse and Lighting 2, Frog and Marle casting Double Cure, but when I fail once with the timing I am dead...
FF1 on my phone (on a NES emulator; screw playing the difficulty-neutered iOS version) FF3 on my DS, a ROM hack of FF6 on an emulator that I'm currently chronicling in its respective forum, FF7, Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake and Donkey Kong Country 3.
Don't use Lightning or physical attacks. That's like the absolute worst thing you can do to that boss because they automatically counter every single attack with something based on what you hit them with, and their Light and Physical counters are by far the strongest. What you really wanna do is have Lucca hit them with her strongest all-hitting spell and have Crono and Marle spam Aura Whirl. It's a bit of a crap healing tech but considering how little damage their Fire counter does you should be fine.
I beat them last time with that strategy I mentioned before though... But this time I changed the strategy. I started the battle with Lightning2, spammed Arc Impulse (1900 damage per hit), and cast Double Cure when my party was around 200-300 HP, that worked nicely.
So, now on-topic: played Chrono Trigger all day, made it quite far. Only 3-4 sidequests to do, then it is time for Lavos!
uncharted 3
dead space 2
both amazin
I'm currently replaying Final Fantasy 7 :)
I quite fancy buying Silent Hill Downpour when I get some spare cash, has anyone played it?
I finally assembled the courage to remove the Souls games from my PS3 and insert Metal Gear Solid 4. It's been about 3 years since I last played it and I always thought of it as one of my favorite games, but I don't think I can be as positive about this game as I used to be.
Long rant about MGS4
It seems for every pro in this game I come across a con to balance it out. The opening sequence with the Gekko you have to avoid is stunning, thrilling and pure awesomeness in concept. However, the controls for this game feel too loose to handle a situation like this. There's a scripted bit where a Gekko jumps out of a wall somewhere in the level. Me, being the legendary soldier Solid Snake, figured I'd just quickly roll past him and roll into the doorway on the other side. Sounds perfect on paper, but the controls feel so loose this is what actually happened: pulled off the first roll, but I didn't get far enough so I pressed X again for another one. This however made Snake lie down on his belly. IN FRONT OF THE GEKKO. Doomed for sure.
Also, MGS has always been stealth for me and even though you get the option to run and gun in this installment, I don't want to. In stealth games there are a few basic rules to make it work: the player needs to get the time and intel to plan his move accordingly, and patience has to be rewarded. However, both of these rules get screwed over by the spawnpoints of endless streams of soldiers that only get triggered once you've moved past a certain point. Your entire move-planning goes down the drain, and your patience is obviously not rewarded. I'm only just past the FROGS battle and I already had multiple situations where I got pinned down or spotted by enemies suddenly spawning behind me, leaving no choice but to fight my way back out.
Then there's the cutscene where you meet Johnny and Meryl's team. Snake pulls off some awesome CQC moves and I'm thinking 'yup, that's the legendary soldier alright', but when the controls are back in my hands Snake immediately returns to being a clumsy tit. And therefore I'm a clumsy tit. It just doesn't give me the feeling I'm that superslick, stealthy infiltrator action hero this game is supposed to make me feel like. It's more like, pray you can pull this one sequence off without getting spotted for once.
I yearn for the tight controls and stealth mechanics of MGS1.
I'm playing MGS4 on my PS3, I Am Alive on my PC and whatever I have in my 360. I'm also playing through Ocarina of Time again on the GC and Pop 'N' Twinbee on the SNES.
Aion and Chrono Trigger.
I finished Kingdoms of Amalur a few days ago. I already discussed my opinion of it in the game difficulty thread, so I'll instead say that I'm probably going to pick up where I left off with Dead Space. I believe I was right before the Leviathan boss fight when I last played; hopefully, I won't need to start over again like I'll have to with Red Dead Redemption and Final Fantasy XIII.
Right now I'm stuck between sifting through Final Fantasy IX, Uncharted 2, and Madden 12 (not 13 hehe)
finished swords & sworcery superbrothers ep
good game!
KINGDOM HEARTS, FILL ME WITH THE POWER OF DARKNESS
indeed, I am still playing the original KH, I only have SOME time to play on the weekends, and I still have all the optional bosses to beat. I'm still adoring the crap out of this game too.
Finished Chrono Trigger for the 6th time or so, now it is time for New Game+ to get all secret endings! I am amazed how this game feels fresh after playing it through so many times.
finished uncharted 3 it was great
now i gotta go through dead space 2
where's my catheter
Not playing anything right now actually. I simply lack the time. I haven't had much of an urge to game either XD
Once Thanksgiving break comes along, I'll start gaming more though.
Curse actually having after-school activities this year!
Was forced to play Slender Man over the weekend, of which it was proven that horror games don't really frighten me very much (or at least low budget ones). I had more fun scaring my GF and her roommate as my friend and I purposely seeked out the Slender Man.
Based on recommendations from the members of this forum I have decided to try Nine Persons, Nine Doors, Nine Hours (or whatever order it is). It's pretty gripping so far, though I'm getting annoyed that about 75% of the game is reading over text from cutscenes. Let me get to the puzzles!
I've now started with Final Fantasy XIII-2
It's really pretty, but still linear like XIII. I like it though :D
Trying out Shinobi on the Sega Master System.
A nuzlocke of Fire Emblem Sacred Stones
Gilliam was lost getting Joshua... whom I barely ever use. Oh what a start.
I've been playing around with this because I miss Dark Souls so much. :(
Well, I put Dead Space on the backburner in favor of Borderlands 2, and I'm loving every minute of it. My random teammates tend to be stupid, but they do let me get most of the loot, so that's a plus.
It's an awesome game, but it's more like an interactive book with some puzzles here and there than an actual game. Definitely gotta be in a book mood rather than a gaming mood to enjoy the game. Ace Attorney gamers should know the feeling.
But yeah, intense game. I keep forgetting there's a sequel coming up and then I get all jelly-like on the inside when I'm reminded of it. Love that feeling.
Playing:
Uncharted 2
Final Fantasy X-2
Skyward Sword
gonna ditch them all once Resident Evil 6 is released.
I beat 999 and got the knife ending, which naturally left me unsatisfied. I do like the ability to skip through seen text in further playthroughs, though it would be nicer to be able to skip puzzles as well. It seems as though to get all the endings you will have to go through most of the puzzles twice and some even three times. I may take a break after this second go around so that I don't get too annoyed with that. I found a handy flowchart online that shows what doors I have to go through to get each ending so that will help minimize repetition.
Yeah, ugh so annoying, I think I can do that first puzzle blindfolded by now.
I'm playing through Skyrim again with new characters to experience the full extent of Dawnguard and Hearthfire's effects on the game, really enjoying it after leaving it on the back-burner for so long.
Ima playin Borderlands 2. Tiny Tina got it goin on!
im prepairing for Assassins Creed 3!
Normaly i would just play all the previous part (exept the first one with Altair), but i dont feel like that this time, so i started Revelations
Oh, boy, I am currently FF busy. Currently playing (and getting my ass kicked) in the DS version of FFIV. I hate how unreasonably difficult it can be. FFV playthrough is constant, and so is my first real attempt at FFX-2, which is disturbingly easy compared to FFIV.
Every FF is easy compard to IV. (Except possibly tactics.)
Of course even tactics is easy next to the beast that is IV DS. O_O
It doesn't help X-2 is piss easy anyway.
I keep going back to Gravity Rush on the Vita. I do enjoy it when I play but it doesn't keep my gripped.
Smurfing Borderlands 2 up in this bitch. If only it would actually let me connect to Uncle Big Hands :(
Supaplex on my Android phone.
Twas sad. Me and Jiro didn't get to play. ;_;
FTL, WoW, and Torchlight 2
Theatrhythim.
i am playing Max Payne 3 game...
Final Fantasy Dissidia, FFIX and Skyrim
Assassin's Creed 2
Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow.
I'm hoping this can hold my attention for the whole game, unlike Symphony of the Night where I got fed up halfway.
Not much of anything really. I mean I've been doing stuff in P3 but I've played that game so many times it's just tinkering at this point. A little Gitaroo Man as well.
I really should start The Last Story but with October and Halloween around the corner, I felt it would be nice to play some "scary" games and so I fished out my copies of Silent Hill 2 and Fatal Frame to play through. I've never actually played either game so this should be amusing.
I am decent with puzzles, but I don't plan on playing the game on hard mode. I've never really played the SH series much except a little of SH4 but we won't get into that. It should be interesting.
Oblivion, Civilization IV and right now hopping into some Crusader Kings II :D
Assassin's Creed II
Finished Memory Sequence 9.
Hey I'm at around that point too! How are you enjoying it?
Altair's Armor looks awesome with the Carnivale Cape.
It's his own armour, made by himself. It's not the armour he got from the guild. :D
I dunno if you read the Codex pages? They're pretty darn cool, and well worth the time, I think.
How idd Altiar accurately predict the sewing style of Italy 500 years early?
Apple of Eden, innit?
MLB 12: The Show. Kansas City Royals really are pooh.
I'm into Tales of Phantasia for the SNES right now, but my problem is that I always want to get through the first few hours of the game as perfect as possible.
For example, I instantly lose interest if I get a Game Over too early, and if I figure out a small improvement somewhat early in the game I will restart for that reason as well (for example, buying the Jet Boots before the sewer part).
Even having to use the Life Bottle on Mint in the sewers can zap my interest, because if I need to do that then my strategies weren't optimal, and I wasted a fine Life Bottle when I wouldn't have needed to.
I also have weird tendencies to adapt my playing sessions to the game's storyline.
For example, when they travel back in time about an hour into the game I always Save State the file and continue with the past a few hours later - that way I get a strong feeling of really starting a completely new part of the story, and it makes the beginning of the game feel more "far away".
Currently going back and forth between Skies of Arcadia and Resident Evil Code Veronica. Dusting off the Dreamcast was one of the best decisions I made in the last few months.
So you can play a specific players career in that game? Might have to see if it's on sale in that case.
I don't think you can choose a current player to have a career with. I created my own player and started from triple A. Just got into the majors after three seasons but not with the ideal team!
You're right, not cool Bubba. I expected people who didn't grow up in or around NY would have better taste. :p
Manchester doesn't have much of baseball scene unfortunately! Neither does England for that matter.
New York is like my spiritual home. Been four times and managed to catch three Yankee games.
Finished Assassin's Creed 2, I really enjoyed it.
Now to Brotherhood!
Finished Castlevania Chronicles. Now I'm going to focus on Aria of Sorrow, and I do aim for 100% completion and the Best Ending.
Played Slender, it was scary for the first time I played it, but after that it lost its charm. I managed to collect 6 pages, getting 7 or 8 was nearly impossible.
Just beat my Nuzlocke of Fire Emblem Sacred Stones
had 6 casualties total, overall it was a great run, and a lot of fun :D
Managed to find the gamecube version of Twilight Princess, it's been since 2007 since I've played this game, time for another playthrough!
How do you do a Nuzlocke of Fire Emblem? I mean, the game incorporates permadeath anyway, and in most maps you can't recruit more than one character, soo...
Is it just a run through with no reloads?
Basically, yes. You can't restart if any character gets RNG screwed, dies, etc.
Considering it's very much a luck based game, it can end in some hilarious ways (my Artur getting killed by a 1% crit from a pegasus knight as one example)
Nuzlocke is just thrown in front by people who do these runs because basically everyone RNG abuses the absolute hell out of their characters, and they restart so they can get every character they don't need, so playing the game as it's intended is basically a challenge run now.
Silent Hill 2, so far the atmosphere is great but good god are the controls awful. I will never understand why people put up with the old RE control system, it really did overcomplicated something that should have been easier to do. Despite being a PS2 title, I really feel like I'm playing an old PS1 title. Having fun, just wanted to bitch about the only aggravating element.
Thanks to EoFF's Triple Triad game, I started playing FF8 yesterday. Please destroy me.
Dark Souls, Persona 4, Amnesia, Skyrim. ;.;
If I'm not mistaken you can change the controls to move in the direction you press instead. I might be thinking of a later SH though. But honestly, I never minded the tank like RE controls in slower games like RE or SH. It wasn't until people started putting them in action games (*cough* RE4 *cough*) that it bothered me.
I just find it counter-intuitive to make turning a chore. While it has not been detrimental since as you said, the games don't have enough action to warrant more responsive controls, I do find it illogical. I wish I could move the camera around as well but I understand why it's so limited.
Explored every corner of Assassin's Creed 2. Now it's back to Xenoblade Chronicles to finish that one up.
Borderlands 2. Starting my Mechromancer playthrough. So many brony references.
Brutal Legend. Tim Schaefer is a god and I want to play everything he has ever made. The stage battles are a little wonky but it's still really good for a console RTS.
It's not Psychonauts, but that set the bar pretty high.
I need to finish Bastion at some point but I lost momentum.
Also while my GF is out of town, I plan to marathon Amnesia and actually beat it this time for my Halloween game.
After all that stuff, I really smurfing goddamn want to play Black Mesa. Like wicked bad.
Aion
Oh man you guys I don't even know, I am playing too much right now. Averaging probably 14 hours a day gaming on my days off. Between WoW, Torchlight, XCOM, all the other stuff... going crazy and I absolutely love it
Just started Majora's Mask again. Also always playing Super Metroid romhacks.
Found a gamecube version of The Legend of Zelda, Twilight Princess at a game store up in Boulder for only 30 bucks.
Man, my last save was in 2007, this is exciting.
The game is actually far better put together than I remember, with only the "eh" characters being my only complaint, and that's a minor one.
I must say, it's my favorite 3D LoZ game without a doubt, beating both OoT and Majoras Mask in my eyes (with MM in 2nd place) (sue me).
Twilight Princess is actually my favorite of the 3D Zeldas as well, and it's tied with Link to the Past as my favorite in the series. :D
The game gets more flak than it deserves, but that seems to be almost a tradition of the Zelda franchise, much like the FF series.
I honestly never finished Twilight Princess. I hated the opening for being mind numbingly slow, I hated wolf form because fetch quests are stupid, and the first two dungeons felt like OoT all over again. Was I missing something by jumping ship so early (and by early I of course mean several hours in)?
And any answer to this thread for at least the rest of October which doesn't include XCom is wrong and you should all be ashamed.
XCom
The first few hours in Twilight Princess are probably the worst in any Zelda game that's been released. I was losing interest as well but decided to persevere. It takes a lot of things that made OoT great and improved on them in many ways.
Ocarina of Time was too ground-breaking to be surpassed for me but TP was not far behind. You should definitely play through it at least once, Vivi. You won't regret it!
This is actually one of the problems that kept popping up in my mind each time I thought about going back to it: I don't really like OoT that much anymore. Don't get me wrong, it was fairly ground breaking for the time, and it did a good job of bringing the Zelda formula into 3D, but after beating it twice when it came out I've never managed another full playthrough. I've tried a few times but every time I end up bored out of my skull by the time I get the Master Sword and simply stop. I actually don't think I made it that far last time. I was never able to quite put my finger on why though, and it's been so long since I last tried playing it I can't say for sure why it fell flat with me after those first two times.
I doubt it's over familiarity with it by any stretch at least. I did do just about everything during my second playthrough, but I could say the same about games like FFIV, FFVI, Mario World, Mario 64, Mirror's Edge, and who knows how many more. But I've beaten each of those at least a dozen times over the years.
I've beaten OoT once because my friends forced me to, and I have to say... since I didn't play the game as a kid, the nostalgia goggles had no effect on me, and I didn't enjoy my time with it much. The controls were too wonky for me... master quest was enjoyable, though I was never able to beat it.
Back on TP:
Meh, I don't know if you'd enjoy the rest then. While it may introduce 3 of the best things to ever be put into a LoZ game, double clawshot, Spinner, and Ball and Chain... meh, I'm not sure if you'd be able to push through. It's a shame because the game is basically OoT if it had actually aged well, but you can't love every masterpiece I suppose.
EDIT: Also, I should at least list my favorite LoZs (3D)
1: TP (I just love how it expands on what made OoT great, had some awesome level design, and quite possibly the best tools and puzzles ever. )
2: Wind Waker (I said favorite, not best*)
3: Majoras Mask (The dark, sometimes unsettling story, the eery setting and characters and the masks. I loved this game to pieces)
OoTs story didnt draw me in as much as Majoras Mask to keep me interested, and I found wind wakers combat to be quite possibly the most fun in the entire franchise, even if there were some sections that made me want to kill a baby *(The triforce shards section being the prime complaint for obvious reasons)
Twilight Princess is definitely my favorite 3D Zelda game, followed closely by Windwaker and then I guess OoT. I was generally not a huge fan of Skyward Sword.
And people don't talk about it so much, but Minish Cap is one of my favorite entries in the series. I beat that game in one weekend, barely taking breaks to eat and piss. Yall should play it if you haven't.
Lately I've been playing Farcry 2, as I'd picked it up on the Steam summer sale and never really played it too much before. It's a good game, but definitely overambitious with the attempts at realism. The game would be better if they just scrapped the whole malaria thing, completely.
TP was better than SS. Reflecting at this point in time, I would have to agree that TP is the best 3D Zelda game. It is OoT on steroids. WW and SS tried to do something different and I appreciate that, but there really isn't anything that matches galloping through Hyrule field on Epona.
Minish Cap was actually the first Zelda game I played as a kid, and it's still quite possibly my favorite of all zeldas. That game is just a lot of fun to play. The artstyle and color pallet is vibrant and appealing to the eye, the controls are very fluid and work perfectly, and the combat is simply a lot of fun.
Though I don't think I've ever gotten all 20 hearts on that game before due to how difficult it can be considering the time restraints on certain fusions.
I was playing Pokemon White 2 (emu'd) and I think i didn't even make it through the first match with your "opponent" and i just gave up. my computer is smurfing awful at emu anyways.
other then that i rolled a Panda for MoP and my computer overheated and so, i don't game much cause i work. :zombert:
You know... it's nearing Halloween...
IT'S TIME FOR SOME AMNESIA: THE DARK DESCENT
Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magic Obscura. It's basically Fallout 1 and 2 but Victorian Fantasy. It's epic in some areas and frustrating in others. The plot, character progression, and world is excellent. The combat, interface, and party members are terrible.
Overall a solid game if you're patient. I recommend it. :monster:
Just picked up Dragon Quest VI again after a few months and where I'm at in the story was a good place to come back to. Hoping this sucks me back in again as DQ games have all done so far.
The thing about malaria, like weapon jamming, is that it creates these moments where it completely removes the player from their subconscious state where they're not actively thinking, just kind of reacting to the gunfights how they instinctively do in an FPS. It destroys that and randomly creates this scenario that you need to deal with before you can keep playing. It's this kind of dynamic, progressive storytelling and it's part of what separates Far Cry 2 from other shooters, even other open-world, open-ended shooters.
Enslaved
Still playing Silent Hill 2, I must say I have really mixed feelings about it but I'm at the historical society. Have I ever mentioned I hate RE puzzles? You know where I have to collect arbitrary items to do simple tasks like unlock a door? I mean at least SH's setting makes this kind of stuff more understandable than in RE, but it doesn't make it any less annoying to do. I'm really liking the atmosphere and story though. I'm finding myself honestly agreeing with Yahtzee that as a game, SH2 is utterly terrible and unfun but it has a great story and setting that just would not have worked as anything but as a game.
I may not have time for Fatal Frame before the month is out. I have ACIII to look forward to and afterwards, I feel I should finally tackle The Last Story.
Brutal Legend's stage battles have gone from cool to pissing me off. I wanna beat the game because I love the world and story but the gameplay is just not great. Like if there was a sequel it could be amazing, but the stage battles are all over the place and recently they've only been bridged by escort missions. Might read some guides on it to figure out how to power through but I'm getting a little tired of it - the story is seriously great though but a lot of the joke-y dialogue is forced (esp compared to the inspired script of Psychonauts).
I did start Planescape: Torment yesterday though and I kinda love it already. Hoping I get to spend more time with it.
Amnesia was going well for a few days but it's hard for me to get in the mood for it. A stressful day of work and real life is not well accompanied with a super stressful game. The narrative and progression is awesome though.
edit: I actually just looked at a FAQ and realized I'm like 2 missions out from beating Brutal Legend. Which explains why it's gotten so damn hard!
I will concede that that is true of weapon jamming; I love that mechanic in the game. And there's something seriously satisfying about when your character clears the jam. But I will not say the same about the malaria mechanic. It's much more abundant than weapon jamming (this simply being because you engage in simple movement far more than in armed combat), and for me it does the opposite of what you've claimed. Instead of immersing me in the admittedly well-crafted open world of FC2, I find myself saying "ah, ok, the screen is blurry again. Genius."
I see what they were trying to do with it. If it had been less frequent and had crept up on me from time to time a bit in the heat of battle, then I would be OK with it (even though I had previously stated that it should have been done away with completely). But as it stands, it only stands to annoy me when I'm trying to proceed from one area to the next.
SH2 got me hooked with the story so I didn't really mind the puzzles that much. Still creeped out to death by Pyramid Head to this day and the whole Maria fiasco.
I'm currently playing RE6. The recent RE games seem more like COD or Halo in zombie mode but I don't really mind the change of pace. If I wanted to get scared to death, I'd probably pick Amnesia anyways. :)
Played Amnesia at my friend's place and finished it. It is not a long game but the story progresses really well. Some parts of the game made me almost crap my pants, for example the Storage room..... I opened a door and a smurfing zombie was standing behind it.
Really nice game. 9/10
Don't have any consoles here; playing SF version of Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together on emu. Unfortunately, the menus glitch out whenever I want to buy something or equip something, so I'll have to work on fixing that.
Mass Effect 3 with Kinect.
I love yelling at the screen. Sometimes it doesn't understand me and this happens:
Me: "James frag grenade!"
[nothing happens]
Me: "James frag grenade!"
[nothing happens]
Me: "...James frag grenade :irked:!"
[nothing happen]
Me: "James you smurfing suck balls"
James: "I'll get right on that"
:O_O:
resident evil 6

i just ended my first campaign (chris)
i love the game though the story is a bit weak (or starts late)
i was exited about how the characters meet, but in my opinion it doesnt really meen anything till near the end.
it took me a while to get used to the new 'gameplay' and i run out of bullets quit fast every time.
but overall im verry satisfied, despite the bad reviews the game got from other players
Playing skyrim:
"HIT TROLL WITH AXE!"
Mass Effect
First time ever.
Also pen n paper rpg as always
Now I need to get me a Mass Effect 3 copy. :)) I'm withholding on the splurging until I finish all the games I have here and I still have 4.
Haha, same problem here. I always run out of ammo no matter how many bullets I seem to pick up. I end up hustling the zombies or dashing away from them (and getting run over by cars). Gameplay's fine though. :)Quote:

Since it's been nothing but exams and studying with no play for me lately, I haven't done much other than have my 360 boost matches towards the ludicrous Seriously 3.0 on Gears of War 3 while I've been busy studying or doing more pressing things with my time. Now that midterms are finally over for me, though, I'm getting back into Borderlands 2. I'm also playing Happy Wars, which is Xbox Live's first free-to-play game, on the side. I'm also continuing on with Pokémon White, just working on raising team members for competitive play just because I feel like it.
Diablo 2
Dark Souls DLC.
Freakin awesome image containing a bit of a spoiler

IT'S GLORIOUS I TELL YOU!
Diablo 3 isn't too bad, I would wait for a price drop though.
Oblivion, after having modded the crap out of it
My apologies for not using spoiler tags for the image! SpoilerBut yes you fight Artorias and it's... the most epic of epic. I won't spoil the how, where and why, but it does make sense since the DLC is called Artorias of the Abyss and we all know from his cursed sword that he 'swayed' to the Dark. The fight is an instant favorite to me!
just finished dead space 2
soooo good
well actually i was hoping for more of a boss battle
I have mixed feelings about dead space 2.
I love the weapons and combat in the game, but I hate how much it fails in the horror aspect.
Dead space 1 wasn't too great in the horror part, but it was still decent. It had a great atmosphere and alright pacing. Dead space 2 just throws pacing out the damn window, and that bugs me quite a lot. I also don't like how they had issac take off his helmet and gave him a crappy personality. I liked the silent Issac, it made him a lot like Link in that he's more of a vessel for the player. At least for me, having Issac remove his helmet all the time and giving him a voice just... it detracts from the game and the atmosphere.
(This is just my thoughts though, a lot of people loved the game and I can see why. It just wasn't for me.)
Currently finishing up Twilight Princess. I've been taking my sweet ass time with this game, but I currently have 18/20 hearts, and I'm in the second to last dungeon.
1 heart container and 3 PoH left till I max out my health.
Zant, you and your bizarre boss fight are next.
Dragon Warrior II. The NES version, not the GBC remake.
i actually felt the pacing of 2 was better than 1, but i'd say that it wasn't very scary compared to 1. i think they didn't introduce enough crap to really freak you out in terms of real fear/horror, but i found 2 more screwed up in some of the situations and settings than 1. there was an atmosphere on the ishimura that just wasn't replicated, ds2 felt less claustrophobic to me and i think that made it less stressful. after reading some reviews most people seem to agree on the change from real survival horror to more action in the sequel. i didn't mind at all, but then, my fave RE game is 4.
or i was just used to the kind of crap they pulled from ds1 lol
it's probably my fave horror series on this gen so far though
edit: i also thought it was a deeper story, even if some of it doesn't make a whole lot of sense. i didn't have a problem with him having a voice by the end, but it took a while getting used to it in the beginning yeah.
(SPOILER)i liked that even though the main bad guy was supposed to be a bad guy, he issued an evac order before stuff went down. i guess i enjoyed the ambiguity of everthing, isaac turning off the power to the gov section to clear his path using the necromorphs was pretty cool, even if by that point he was just doing whatever "nicole" was telling him to.
the most screwed up part for me was probably the day care center, and the attendant/mother/baby scene. the eyeball scene was really well done as well.
Getting to the end of Xenoblade Chronicles. What a great story and great game. Easily the best JRPG of this generation.
Finished Medievil for the 6th time. That game is too short.... But I still love it! :D
I'm playing two games, I tend to rotate my games, and so far, I'm playing:
PC: Unreal Tournament III
Console: Grand Theft Auto IV
I was really missing passive aggressive vehicular manslaughter in Grand theft auto, so I rebooted it. I'm having so much fun! And I also miss using the manta in UTIII to crush the enemy. Ah... good times. :)
Trying to get better at Chess :-$
I imagine you're getting pretty good at Liar's Dice though, right?
I just couldn't take it seriously after the stupid as hell scene where they show you wooo scary stuffa necromorph 2 seconds into the damn game in plain light. That just pissed me off and they did nothing to build up any tension whatsoever. You're just thrown right into it. Hell, even DS1 TRIED to set up some tension.
The combat in both games is so amazing though, as well as the art design and attention to detail. It's a gorgeous game that's actually really damn creative, my only gripe is really the pacing and the drastic change of Issac as a character.
I wouldn't put it anywhere near my top favorites, but it's still a very well designed game. There was definitely some creepy environments and scenarios though. I won't deny that. The eyeball scene in 2 was definitely creepy, and some areas built up an amazing atmosphere. I thankfully didn't screw it up when I played the frickin' eyeball "minigame".
Let me just end on this one thing, I LOVE how they used the interface on those games. It's just so awesome.

So, twilight princess rant.Anyway: I finished TP today, and I have to say... I wish this game wasn't so easy. The monsters don't do nearly enough damage, and you deal far too much. For the last half I basically stopped using the master sword because I was sick of steamrolling all the enemies. The ordon sword makes things far more exciting. I had to use strategy during the fights as I actually had to utilize my 1-hit kill attacks like the upgraded jump strike, mortal blow, and great spin. I switched back to the Master Sword for ganon and I basically kicked his ass so fast I sat on my bed stunned into silence. I remember having quite a tough time as a kid, but even on the horseback section he didn't get a chance to summon his ghostly horsemen before I smacked him around something fierce.
The boss designs and sense of scale in the game is just breahtaking, and nearly every boss is just epic (excluding Zant, Firus, and the forest dungeon boss).
One thing though... the Hyrule Castle theme in this game is so bland and boring. In say... minish cap it was dark and foreboding (Dark Hyrule Castle -- The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap - YouTube), in this... it is so SO quiet it just makes the final dungeon drag on and on and on. Zelda Twilight Princess Track - 1 Hyrule Castle Ganon - YouTube It's a good song, but it doesn't fit the dungeon whatsoever. I ended up just listening to my own music, something I've never had to do before on this game.
It's been 5 years since I've played this game, and it's aged very well I would say. Metroid Prime is still far more gorgeous and awesome though :p
Dragon Age II. Not really as bad as everyone made it out to be. Fulfilling my RPG craving for the time being.
Forgot to mention this when I made this statement. On our honeymoon Miriel and I went to Tuscany and we got to visit many of the settings from AC2. In particular we explored Florence and San Gimignano and retraced Ezio's footsteps through several landmarks. It was pretty amazing. The level of detail in the settings for this game is pretty good since I instantly recognized most areas from the game. I have a couple photos of myself trying to do crazy acrobatic stuff but unfortunately I couldn't find an Ezio cloak to look like a real assassin.
Synchronize, of course.
Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney
and it's awesome.
I just recently played that as well. I actually started it years ago but stopped because I got bored/frustrated with the game at a certain point. I think picked it back up recently and was hooked. Apparently I was too stubborn before and this game requires outside-the-box thinking sometimes.
Finished XCOM: Enemy Unknown on Ironman mode last Friday or so.
Final Fantasy XIV finishes up temporarily tomorrow.
I don't know what to do. ;_; I suppose I can carry on with Final Fantasy IX, which I'm veeeeery slooooowly getting through. :p
i love resident evil 6 .. i just love it!
just 1 more chapter and im done, but then ill problably be able to play Ada's campaign so... tot totally done yet
and tomorrow.... yes.. tomorrow... i shall pick up AC3 from the store, and that will be the last time ppl saw me... for a while
It almost never does if you know what you're doing to begin with ._.
Besides, since I started gaming on pc I haven't had to spend more than 15 bucks on a game. I consider that far better than 40-60 bucks a pop.
Not to mention you have a choice between keyboard and mouse, or a controller.
It's far more expensive sure, but it's impossible to argue that consoles are better in terms of variety and all around quality.
Both are roughly equal when you weigh the pros and cons, but if you can build your own computer it's almost ALWAYS the better decision.
Anyone can build their own computer. I don't care what you say. If you patient and observant, you can build your own computer. :colbert:
Finished Silent Hill 2 and with Halloween over, I don't feel like jumping into Fatal Frame just yet, so while I'm polishing off a playthrough of Peace Walker, I'm thinking of setting up for either Assassin's Creed 3 or The Last Story. Decisions decisions...:plotting:
im not exactly a yoda with computers, and i always had trouble with it if it comes to gaming, so my trust in that is completely gone.
i prefer to take the easy road with a ps3. its easyer and cheaper (the console itself) , yes the games are more expensive, but they are guaranteed to work!!
From the price of the PS3 games you can build yourself a new PC.
Persona 3 portable! Oh, and I'm gonna start playing FF8 again. For some reason.
Games for pc cost a lot too. and you are tempted to buy more of them. Or pirate. Yoho.
Depends on if you fall for temptation. For me, I only buy games 10 dollars or less, most of them are 5 bucks.
So, a typical ps3 game costs... say, let's round down, 40 bucks.
thats 4 10 dollar games, or 8 5 dollar ones.
I used to fall for temptation like mad, but not anymore. Hell, my library will probably last me for years, and I barely spent anything on it. I won't have to buy another game on PC for a LONG time. (is not the kind of guy to buy new games, console or not.)
and I already said that PC is more expensive UPFRONT, but it saves you so much money over the years if you MAKE IT right.
You can easily build a solid tower for like $400-500 (sometimes even less depending on preferences), and that can last you for YEARS if you take care of your stuff.
I will agree on one thing though, sometimes the games don't work properly. That can be an issue if you don't do your proper research. On the other hand though, most pc games give you a smurfing book of options you can tinker with, so your gaming is far more personalized for your tastes and needs compared to console games.
I don't know about you, but I hardly ever spend more than 20 on a ps3 game.
I don't have a ps3 or 360 anymore due to my brother taking the 360 when he moved out... soooo. I do go to game stores a lot though, and unless it's an older ps3 game, the price is almost always above 40 bucks. I actually want to buy a ps3 soon. It has a lot of games I want on it. Ratchet and clank future, the resistance series, among a few others.
I'm not bashing on ps3 or 360, but trying to argue against the PC being mechanically the best console is just ridiculous.
I'm playing Halo reach ;O
Gamblet, HC and TrollHunter, please take the PC vs. Console discussion either to PM or make a thread. ;)
Started Assassin's Creed 3 yesterday. Been working all damn day, so I'm guessing I won't get back to it until this weekend.
This Saturday, Xenoblade Chronicles shall begin!
>>> A Yugioh game on the Wii, "master of the cards" or something (kind of old but still fun)..:luca:
Playing AC: Brotherhood.
Made it to a siege where you must close 3 gates while a swarm of enemies are crashing in, but when you get hit you will lose 100% Sync and I want 100% Sync, that is tough. I almost threw my mouse against the wall...
