Smokin' Aces: 2/5
I was getting into seeing how things would unfold, but when they did unfold, I wasn't really satisfied with the whole reveal. It could have done with another twenty minutes, or at least have the guy FIGURE IT OUT instead of having it told to his face. I like the very end, but the various character stories just didn't work out very well in the end, at least not to my tastes. Very difficult to choose between 2/5 and 3/5, but 2/5 won out.
Forbidden Planet. It's often considered the first modern sci-fi film and it shows in some ways; the effects are pretty primitive (although, that said, they're a lot better than you'd expect given the age of the film, and I was wondering how they actually pulled some of them off in the '50s). However, it shows in other, better ways as well; just about every sci-fi series or film from the '60s and '70s ripped this film off. I won't say too much about the plot, but it's definitely rewarding and still holds up pretty well today. It's also interesting to see Leslie Nielsen in a serious rôle.

How do I critique such a film? It's age, director and actors have made it a cult hit. Still I guess I'll give it a go.
The violence (ultra as stated in the film) was not so bad compared to contemporary standards. In fact, what made this so controversial back in the 70's is mild compared to the films one would see in 2011. So with that said it was good that the film had a great character arc, for me Alex is a great protagonist.
The cons of the film would probably be that it reminds me so much of 1984 and that's good and bad simply because separating oneself from another work is vital to create ones own identity or work.
My major quip with the film would be the ending. It was nice and vague, but it was also very anticlimactic. All in all, still a good watch.

.. the movie was ok :) it was in english without subs on my PS3 on the internet and missed some parts becaus some1 started talking.. and than i cant understand it clearly :(

Eustace simply doenst make any sence.. hes a waste in the movie!!!
Kibakichi
It's about a samurai werewolf that mixes one part feudal Japanese drama, one part western, and one part Infra-man. The monsters are too goofy for a horror movie and the violence is too gory for a kid's show. Still, it's awesome, a lot like the Haunted Lantern.
Kibakichi is a wandering warrior who encounters (SPOILER)a village of Yokai and their conflict with a fanatical group of humans who want to exterminate all monsters. The monsters come off much more sympathtic, except for one human girl who's impossibly pure and virtuous. A bloodbath ensues, literally.

Yes there's a sequel. Kibakichi is still wandering on his travels and encounters (SPOILER)a kindly blind girl who senses his decency under his stoic and scary facade. Meanwhile a fellow werewolf named Anju is persuing him for revenge and both encounter a bandit named Sakuramaru who is terrorizing an entire village. He's not interested in money as much as finding a worthy oponent.
Meanwhile there's a band of Yokai that is pitting these three characters against each other to serve their nefarious goals.
All in all, a lot of fun, if you don't mind the cartoony action and gore.
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows pt. 1
Finally saw it, and I won't say I was surprised because everyone assured me that it was better than the last 6 movies (all of which were pretty terrible, except for maybe Goblet of Fire), and it did deliver. I was actually surprised with how much darker they took the direction of the movie though, I figured they'd still have kept it kiddy for the most part, but I'm glad they didn't. For me the middle dragged on way too much, and I thought the kid who played Draco actually got worse since the last movie, but that may have been more to do with limited screen time. The death's in the movie didn't deliver much of an emotional response from me, but that was the exact same gripe I had with the book, so no real harm done there. Overall they did a pretty good job and I didn't finish the movie absolutely pissed like I did with Half Blood Prince.

Just watched "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 1" again.

They did a good job with the pacing, and they managed to NOT exclude anything major so far. That being said, Dumbledore was hardly touched upon, and Kreacher's past with Regulus and Voldemort was minimal. I was really looking forward to the entire cave scene. :( That being said, I definitely think that they are going to focus some more on Dumbledore in Part 2, anything else would be atrocious.
I couldn't disagree with this more. I recommend that you go back and watch it again. Unlike most films, the ending lacks vagueness and superfluousness. A good film is a film that's ending tightly sums up the theme of the entire film, and I think A Clockwork Orange is a film that does it best.Quote:

I just got home from watching Thor. Probably one of the best Marvel movies I've seen. Ever since Iron Man they've slowly been getting better. I'm starting to get a little excited for Captain America.
