Paladin or Sorceress. They are the most newb-friendly classes as of right now.
Money isn't a problem. But Auramancers aren't exactly the best idea for someone who doesn't know how the game works. You'll have to play for awhile before you should try it.
The best PvM class is a Frenzy Barbarian. If you need some help, try combing through this thread, or Arreat's.
EDIT: Nom, I found a 3/3 Poison Facet for you. It's crap, but it's still something.
Thanks for the help!
I think I'm going to try a barbarian. Maybe I'll see some
of you on the net . Do you guys like organise a questrun
once in a while for the EoFF members? Would be fun!
Bytheway I'm not entirely new to the game, I've had
it for a half year or something before it (presumably)
got stolen by a "friend". I owned a lvl 30ish sorc, but
the game was cheatable even online. That kind of took
the fun out.
P.S> Is it just me or do these expension character suck?
I hate the assasin, the druid did fine 'till I learnt one of
his higher level attack spells, which sucked (badly).
Most of us are on in sporiadic sprees of killing and hustling. We don't have a truly organized system where people HAVE to show up if possible, and do thing. For the most part, people get on and off as they please or as their time restraints allow them. Personally, I'm almost always on after I come home from school, 3:00PM EST, and play until 10:00PM, unless I've been realmdowned (a temporary IP ban by Blizzard in order to discourage cheating).
As a general rule, don't let people get your password unless they have Password/IP loggers, which they would not admit publicly anyways. As for us, we here don't really steal accounts, since, what's the point? Almost everyone here in the community knows everyone else, and EoFF is generally a board of trustworthy characters, except me. I'm just a bastard.
It's also got runewords, expanded stash, better and more uniques, better Set items, better drop rates, more play options, is more efficient in damage calculation, and some other stuff. Also, the Druid techtrees suck unless you know what you are doing. It's a real advanced character, not that its payoffs are necessarily better.
Question, if you have an aura from a runeword, does the +X to All Skills mod add to the level of the aura?
Edit: I also have a concern. Here is what Arreat Summit says about Rabies:
Rabies is a very lethal attack. It constantly hits the afflicted player with poison damage about every second. Thus, once the target reaches 1 hp, Rabies' next cycle kills the player. The Rabies "aura" cannot be destroyed. Because the source of the poison is untouchable, all the antidotes in the game will not cure rabies directly.
And here is what it says about Venom:
Venom caps the poisoning duration at 0.4 seconds, thus preventing long term poisoning. Consequently, all other items will only inflict poison damage for 0.4 seconds. Example: Though 700 damage over 10 seconds might seem impressive only 28 damage will be inflicted due to the 0.4 seconds cap.
So I am told that a really good weapon for a Rabies Druid is the Grief runeword, which gives a 35% chance to cast level 15 Venom on striking. So, if I am wearing a Grief and I successfully get Venom cast on me, will this reduce my Rabies poison damage to 0.4 seconds and that's it, or will Rabies be fine because the aura can't be destroyed? I'm a little confused.
Yes, unless it's included on the weapon. For example, if you had a Call to Arms, you get 6BO, 6BC. It's affected by, say a Shako or Spirit. However, the +1 skills on your CtA doesn't affect it.
As for Grief/Rabies workability, I'm not so sure. Venom casts its own Poison, while Rabies is separate entirely. However, if it says it caps all poisoning, then Rabies (I think) will get capped at .4 seconds.
Rabies and untouchability is only an action that is taken by the opposing player. Since Vanom is a character's personal formula calculation, Venom overrides Rabies.
I hope you haven't played any runes yet, for Grief. If you have, then no problem, just hold onto it and finish it for a different character. Use a different weapon for your Druid.
I found a Superior Colossus Voulge with four open sockets, just begging for a runeword.
My Poisonmancer is getting owned at Blood raven.
I'm level 6. I just put all possible points in poison
dagger (which is one) leaving me 6 skill points leftover.
Should I keep the points and wait 'till I can stretch them
out over poison skills or should I invest some of it in the
teeth attack?
@Cimanim, thanks but I have to go sleep now :(.
If you're on now, I'll come help.
Depends: are you going for a Bone Necromancer build or the Poison Necromancer build? Meleemancer Summoner or Pure Summoner?
If for Bone, stop investing skills in Dagger, and go for Teeth, and all the "Bone" attack skills. If you are going Poison, then keep going for Poison until you get P(oison) Explosion or C(orpse) Explosion. If Meleemancer, the max out Dagger and Skeletal Summons. For Pure, stop investing, and go Summon skills.
Your call. You can NOT invest them, and simply do some public games, such as Tristram, Tombs, Cows, Ancients, then Baal. You can then spend all of your points as you like at a later time (you won't be able to participate in the killing if you do level rushing, but it's all good).
Another thing worth mentioning is that until you get Poison Nova, the Poisonmancer is going to suck - unless you are skilled with the Poison Dagger skill, which most aren't. That's 26 more levels that might cause some trouble.
Does anyone know of any items that grant BOs besides Call to Arms?
It's a random mod on some items, particularly on Daggers and Javelins, but these are Barbarian only.
So, no. CtA only.
Hmm, I guess I can't really make an Auramancer with many BOs...
+All Skills mods affect Battle Orders and Battle Command.
What do you think would benefit more?
A Summoner Druid
A Skellimancer
