Need... rush... blarg...
My poisonmancer is still getting owned :'(.
At the moment he's level 17 but it takes SO
(smurfing? :P) long to level. I die too much
at ACT II and I also die in the catacombs and
inner cloyster. Training anywhere below there
just doesn't give me enough XP. Suggestions
anyone?
P.S. Does anyone know the HP and defence a lvl 17
should have? 'cause I'm taking damage fast, put
4/9 of my points in vitality though.
Nominus don't give in!
whats your character
lets play on eoff//trout :D
edit: Assassin is my favourite class. I might make one of those again. ... sometime. because there is really only one build you can take through the game without being extrodinarilly gimped till level 30. which is Shadow/Martial <3... I have already played one of those >_<
You ought to do Tomb runs at this point for much better experience.
Also, note that Poisonmancers are going to be quite difficult for the first 30 levels, seeing as how you basically have to play "poke and run" with the Poison Dagger skill the entire time prior to acquiring Poison Nova. You have a few options to make it easier on yourself:
You can create a meat-shield.
This can be either a few skeletons, a merc, revives, your golem, or using Bone Wall or Bone Prison as a means of creating a meat-shield.
Remember it only takes 60 skill points to max the synergies of all your Poison Skills, which is quite nice, in itself. However, it's recommended that you place at least 10-15 points in Lower Resist in case you come across some Poison Immune monsters later on. So, in the end, it will cost around 90 Skill Points in order to max your synergies and acquire a formidable Lower Resist. That leaves you with 25 Skill Points to do as you please.
Some choose to make use of a Bone Wall or Prison, while others take a small cluster of Skeletons with them, and still others take the golem of their choosing.
Myself, I choose to bring a Fire Golem along to act as a tank. It takes 23 points to get a Level 20 Fire Golem. Also, you are able to begin using this creature at level 6, which is extremely early in the game.
In my experience, skeletons don't last nearly as long as the Fire Golem (nor do they cause damage to surrounding foes when they perish), revives are too difficult to control, and Bone Wall or Prison makes the game's pace come to a near standstill.
I would go with a Golem companion. Also, don't forget the Act II Nightmare mercenary with Holy Freeze - he's every caster's best friend.
Your other option:
Party with others that can basically take care of you. A standard Poisonmancer build is focused on spamming Nova, and so you are not set to be a melee character. It's a rather frustrating build for the first 29 levels, but once 30 hits, you'll be more than happy.
You might get called a leech or a buffoon for a bit, but most are willing to help a struggling character.
Most everyone knows Poison Dagger is an insanely annoying skill, and only a few bother to master it.
Try seeing if the game EoFF///Trout is currently active or not - that's usually where we all play Normal games. If you pop in, we'll be glad to help.
There's really no set guide as to how much life or dexterity or defense you ought to have at such an early part of the game. I usually place my points as follows:
2 in Strength
1 in Dexterity
2 in Vitality
Don't even bother with Energy (You acquire items that give you enough Mana later on, even with zero points placed in Energy)
Once I reach the Strength required of my planned equipment, I stop placing points in Strength. If I plan to be using a Shield of some sort, I place enough Dexterity points in there in order to attain whatever rate of blocking I choose. Once that is filled to whatever degree I feel is needed, I then pour all my points in Vitality.
At around Level 50 or even lower, every point ought to be able to go into Vitality.
Ah yes.
I'll think I'm going to get a clay golem lvl 1.
What region are you guys in?
I'm in Europe, you guys are prolly all in US.
Finally learned poison corpse explosion, thought it would
make everything better. It didn't. I'm currently running around
with my unique dagger using poke&run tactics. What tombs
should I run then?
Also I'm not carrying around a merc, because the poison kills so
slow she always gets the kills and steals my XP, or so I figured.
xD
no wonder.
:(
US-East.
I't wouldnt be a bad idea to switch over too... I did ^_^
I never find myself having to solo.
I think I'll start over.
It'll be more fun to play with you guys. German people
are really beginning to piss me off (none of em speak english).
Is everyone here in US-east or just you, I don't want to
start over again.
P.S> I'd appreciate it very much if someone could help me
out with low lvl items.
everyone.
