Here are my FFVIII Theories:

1) The GF Eden is a Garden. The evidence is that she looks like an organic version of a Garden. Note the upper disc. Also the garden of Eden was the GF's namesake.

2) The painting puzzle in Ultimecia's castle refers to Diablos. The solution involves a Messenger and Diablos' attack is called Dark Messenger. If the garden that the puzzle refers to is Eden, then Diablos may represent the devil that disguised itself a serpent and corrupted man. Quite an appropriate theme for Ultimecia.

3) The GFs are future versions of the main characters. This is based on a passing resemblance between some of the main characters and some of the GFs. I really doubt that this one is true, but it's fun to think about.

4) It occured to me but to other people independantly as well that Tiamat may be a corrupted future Bahamut. The major evidence is the similar attacks (Mega Flare versus Dark Flare) and the identical character design in different colors. Again, this is unlikely since Tiamat is traditionally a boss monster quite different from Bahamut in other FFs. For one thing, it usually has several heads, like a hydra.

Maybe. But sometime it also wonder what is carbuncle, doomtrain....etc and where do they come from and why are they here?

But if you are talking about the physical appearance of Eden, then it do look a bit like of a garden.

Like if Squall didn't get Bahamut in the past and so in the future Ultimecia captured Bahamut and turn it into Tiamat?

But like why Ultima Weapon and Omega Weapon look alike because they are both weapons so they look alike or Omega Weapon is the future version of Ultima Weapon if Squall didn't kill it in the past?

Maybe both Tiamat and Bahamut are both of the same species of GF that's why they look alike?

It occured to me after posting that the garden could be Balamb, so that interpretation of Diablos in the lamp fits as well in a more specific sense.

Here's my original suggested master-pet pairings:

Squall -> Griever
Rinoa -> Shiva
Zell -> Ifrit
Selphie -> Carbuncle
Quistis -> Siren
Irvine -> Alexander

Seifer -> Diablos
Raijin -> Quetzecoatl
Fujin -> Pandemonia

Some people took exception to the Irvine pairing, but there's no GF I could find a closer resemblance. Others thought a less evil-looking GF would be more suitable for Seifer.

Of course what better GF for Selphie than a bouncy green bunny? :D

There's no explanation of who Tiamat is junctioned to in the present, but it would be natural that there are other GF's out there that the party doesn't get.

I've considered the link between Ultima Weapon and Omega weapon, but what I don't get if they're the same monster then where did Cloud's sword go?

I think that Seifer should be Bahamut and Irvine should be Odin.

I guess I agree on the Irvine pairing. But seem Irvine is a jolly guy and Cactuar seem to have a jolly face, why not Irvine and Cactuar.

But they do represent the character in a certain way.

Highly possible. If Squall and CO own all the GF, then what about the other SeeD. There is a high possiblily that there other SeeD too rely on GF.

Why not think where do Cloud's sword came from in the first place. They can just give it the sword and just remove it from it. But there is no telling whether they are the same monster or not since there is nothing to verify it.

I know you've already stated that the character -> GF theory is unlikely, but there are several things I would like to point out as regards this idea. First, the most common suggestion is that Squall is Griever (usually in conjunction with certain R=U theories). This, however, is in and of itself false, as we know that Ultimecia constructed Griever from Squall's thoughts.

In this context, the scan data can be interpreted to support the supposition that Griever was "created on the spot." Griever, in Squall's mind, was the ultimate GF, and, using those thoughts as a template, Ultimecia brought forth a GF to battle the party. This view makes even more sense in light of the fact that Ultimecia can blow away stocked spells, suggestive of her ability to affect memory.

It's also important to note what Griever actually meant to Squall. On Disc 2, when Rinoa questions Squall about his ring, he notes that lions (like the one on the ring) are known for their great strength and pride. As these are qualities that are very important to Squall, I would personally view Griever as more akin to an ideal, than simply a known legend.

This is not enough, however, to sway me from the belief that Griever was, in fact, directly Drawn from Squall's mind. It's certainly possible (maybe even probable) that a GF called Griever existed in the world of FFVIII. However, the Griever utilized by Ultimecia was, most likely, a reproduction of this being based on the parameters for Griever that existed within Squall.

This bit may seem out of context (and it is, as it was originally a reply to the idea that Ultimecia's Griever was not formed on the spot/Drawn from Squall's mind). In this case, though, the idea is clearly to demonstrate that Griever is not Squall. Having said that, the segment concerning Bahamut as a "legendary GF" suggests that at least some Guardian Forces are known, and can be demonstrated to be static. As I see it, at least, this theory can't work.

It's almost certain that GF's exist that the party never encounters. Selphie herself makes mention of junctioning a GF before coming to Balamb (this was included to explain her memory loss, although we can use it here to suggest the existence of other Guardian Forces).

I've always liked the notion that the uncorrupted Tiamat could have been Selphie's mysterious GF; unfortunately, there's no way to know.

They're not the same monster. Scanning Omega Weapon suggests that he is more powerful than Ultima Weapon, which in itself suggests differentiation between the two.

For that matter, Ultima Weapon can be destroyed before Time Compression is initiated, which would mean that, if they were the same, Omega Weapon would have already been destroyed. While the normal flow of time is distorted during TC, this event (defined before the distortion), would have already been locked in stone.

Your last comment concerning time compression in relation to Ultima being Omega is not entirely good I'm afraid. See, time compression was never actually completed, and since we know so little about it, it is impossible to tell if such a thing would happen before all of time was fully compressed.

But regardless, the scan info is a good enough proof for them not being the same.

BG-57, if you have some serious theories that you actually want to discuss, make a new thread for them. This awful thread is no place for them.
