Why can't Young Link and Link co-exist? They're not the same person. Unless you mean because one of them died decades (or centuries) before the other was born, in which case Marth and Roy wouldn't be able to co-exist, iirc.
Why is everyone assuming that Wolf will make an appearance? Did I miss something?
Wolf is a fake. Every other picture on the roster has a cut off lower right corner. Wolf's doesn't. On the other hand, the other rows all fit together nicely... So who is in the final slot?
I figured that last slot was a random select or something but I cant read japenese so anyones guess is as good as mine.

The thing with Wolf is that there was a leak that a bunch of people believed from a little while ago that included all the characters currently revealed, and referred to "Toon Link" the same way. Since it seems to be correct thus far, most people are assuming it actually had some backing to it, and that Wolf is the next guy in.
Edit for being late: The Wolf pictures I've seen are fake, simply due to their using Assault and Command art-work for the character slot, rather than Brawl work. But keep in mind that the fake'd roster pictures aren't the core of why people think he's in.
For more on Toon/WW Link, I'm liking him. Link and Young Link in SSBM had enough differences between them to choose a preference, and even though Toon Link's animations here are based off of Link's, he bears enough differences to justify himself as a separate character. His speed, weight, and power all seem to be entirely different from normal Link's, and his Boomerang doesn't bear the pull-back seen with normal Link, as well as various other move-set differences. Young Link isn't based off of the TP Link seen here, I don't think. I'd find him much more comparable to Young Link of Melee.
Ganondorf's move-set is based off of a clone, sure, but he at least has new animations. The moves themselves had different out-come in SSBM, but now the look has changed as well for the moves it seems. If it looks different, and acts different, I'd say he's no longer a Captain Falcon clone. He's just to the point of similarity to Cap. Falcon. They probably based his move-set off of his Melee move-set for a similar reason that WW Link's is being based off of Young Link's. There were people who played SSBM who main'd them, and those who did recognized their differences from the original fighters.
I can see it now, Mr. Game & Watch taking over the Halberd and using it against the Subspace Army until Meta Knight catches him and chases him all over the Halberd. :rolleyes2
Well technically Link is still Link whether he is Young Link, Wind Waker Link, or Twilight Princess Link. The thing is, there's really no point in adding 2 Link characters unless they add 2 Samuses or 2 Marios to make it fair to other series. Besides, don't you think it's a bit biased to favour Link so much to add two characters of him? Even if he is quicker it's quite repetitive to add him. Even though characters like Mario & Luigi, Fox & Falco, Ness & Lucas, and Captain Falcon & Ganondorf are similar with their fighting styles they're all totally different characters who are totally distinctive in appearance and personality while all the different versions of Link are still technically Link. I actually preferred them adding Snake and Sonic than another version of a character that's already in.
The way I see it toon link is just fan service.:p
Though it's not exactly fair to the other series' in the game, it wouldn't be fair to the players to remove a fighter who was very well varied in terms of stats. You've got to consider that this is a fighting game we're talking about here. And besides, even though they both have the name Link, use items, and wear green, they're very different in design and character.
@ Evastio: The different versions of Link are not technically the same Link. They're very different Links. They're different people. More different than Mario and Dr. Mario.
Zelda and Mario are Nintendo's two biggest franchises. Mario has Mario, Luigi, Peach, Bowser, DK, Diddy, and Yoshi. Zelda has Link, Zelda, Young Link, and Ganondorf. That's 7 vs. 4.
You need to stop complaining so much about Zelda. Before I smack you. :P
You both should settle this over a Wi-Fi match. You be Toon Link, Roto. :monster:
donkey and diddy?! they're not mario...they're 'Donkey Kong'....
.'. 5 vs. 4...still fair
haha, and the Wi-Fi match is a great idea :p
Donkey Kong is in all of the Mario spinoff games, and he was the villain in the first ever Mario game. :P I think Diddy has been in a bunch of spinoffs, too.
I'd say Donkey Kong has established his own series. He may appear in the Mario Party games, but the design and moves do seem to be mostly inspired by the Donkey Kong Country games. Plus, Diddy Kong first appeared in Donkey Kong Country. And also, we should consider that the title that both DK and Mario debuted in was called "Donkey Kong". Mario's more of a DK character than DK is a Mario character.
i suppose so, but they have their own series now and i forgot about the first mario game :p, timeless, i love that game...but anyway, yeah, their own series with their own side-characters and spin-offs, so i think they have the right to be called their own franchise...and therefore, left out of 'mario' classification
