Shocking result for Liverpool! Clearly dominated Chelsea through the whole match then let one lose like that.. I'd be gutted.
Come on Barca.
Poor riise I bet he won't be travelling to any Liverpool pubs for a while. xD
I thought it was bloody hilarious myself. I don't want either team to win (someone on LiveJournal called the game the footballing equivalent of 'Hitler vs. Stalin'), but it wasn't quite as boring as it could've been. Still got the second leg though.
That competes with the FA Cup final last season as United's most boring game I've ever seen. Shockingly crap, United never showing any desire for goal outside of penalty-fetching by Ronaldo (although he should have got more than we got, we could have had three that I'd call fair). Not really happy with that game in any way whatsoever. Should have been more players running forward and we gave away possession far more often than Barcelona themselves took the ball from us. Something tells me SAF was saving the energy of the players for the two up-and-coming games, which is somewhat understandable given there are three massive games in six days... but still frustrating for the fans.
Pity Barca didn't finish United off. No way in hell I'd want to face Man Utd in the final, assuming we can get there.
Can't believe what's going on at City.
The Thai tit was always going to be a pain in the arse, I just didn't think it would be so soon before he started being dumb. Anyway sacking Sven would be a ridiculous move, especially only after one season. And if they are planning to get Phil Scolari in like I heard I really hope Thaksin falls down a well or something.
I can't understand this at all. City have stumbled a little since the new year began, but this is still a massive improvement on last season, and Sven's got one of the most exciting squads in the league with which to finish even higher this season. Unfortunately it seems that the trend with big foreign investors is to interfere in the team's affairs instead of letting the manager get on with his job. When coupled with the demand for instant success, that means Sven probably won't be the last manager to be dismissed in this fashion.
I have to say I find it amusing that the biggest uproar about a new owner was given to the Glazers, yet they've been the only ones to really stay out of anything outside of commercial activities. How many other clubs are there with sensible foreign owners?
In the Premiership? Randy Lerner at Villa's been alright from what I've seen. Done well by Martin O'Neill and is willing to back the team.
Yes, it would be frankly ridiculous to get rid of Sven. City have dipped a bit, but I think when Sven's had more time and assembled a squad that's entirely to his liking, they'll have a better challenge for the European places. Still, if Moyes goes from Everton (still not signed that contract), I wouldn't mind us having Sven :p
Good luck Barca.
And i agree, very rough on Sven.
:)
YESSSSS!!!!! MOSCOW HERE WE COME!!!
