Is it the battle system?you cant use it when berzerk or confused and there are a few others.your power and smarts get better while using it due to winning fights and getting more knowledge on what your enemies are weak to...........too much thought for a wrong answer huh?

Neither Stats nor the Battle system is correct.
The last verse is probably the most important key to separate the answer from other things that may fit the riddle.

is it abilitys?
if i remember correctly theyre the 3rd from the top in your battle menu. its abilitys defines what class you are so that would be knowing you betetr then you know. you cant control it when confused berserked or dead. also your abilitys could eb what helps you beat a battle so therefore my closest friend it might be. i can command or order around the abilitys as i please. also if it helps me win a battle it helps my power and mind expand.
