"I don't know what's going on, better get wasted."
Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy - The original British version with Alec Guinness but I think it's technically more of a mini-series, still I've heard people claim they've seen it in theaters back in the 70s. A really good film, if very British, which means most of the action is just understanding the context of events cause there is very little action to speak of and it's mostly listening to guys talking in hotel rooms, fields, and inside cars using elaborate codenames that often don't make much sense. The flashbacks are very jarring cause they are very long and sometimes happen without telling you, but otherwise it's a really good spy film though you seriously need to pay attention cause the film seriously just spills out all this information at the beginning which is important but doesn't seem like it is at the time. Alec Guinness does a superb job in his role and the cast was really well thought out and entertaining.
The Karate Kid (2010)
Without going into much detail, my favourite aspect of the film is how the kid, Dre, actually seems to eventually grasp the philosophies and disciplines surrounding kung fu (it annoyed me the film was still called The Karate Kid actually) and also Jackie Chan's acting is, as usual, excellent.
I like it.
Just came back from watching The Artist and it was a really cool and unique flick. A very compelling narrative about one of Hollywood's first big technical leaps in cinema and it was just charming throughout. It was also just completely refreshing to watch a film with legitimately good acting that isn't cluttered up with silly stuffy dialogue. I would definetly recommend i for people who want something different in their usual film watching curriculum.

Although it sounds like an action flick it's actually a really good drama about a Latino family. It's unconventional in it's approach to family centered films and deals with other issues that haven't been portrayed that much in cinema. The dialogue and characters are authentic. Sometimes it's uncomfortable to watch such authenticity on screen so much so that I had to constantly remind myself that this was just a movie—albeit a very good one.
X-Men First Class
This is how you make an origin superhero movie. Whole movie is worth it just for the ending...

If you approach this as a serious movie, you will be disappointed. My recommendation: approach this as a B-movie. This movie actually had a bigger production value than most B horror movies I've seen. The prosthetics were very well done even by today's standards -- although you'll see mostly CGI as opposed to make-up effects now. I was expecting weird, but I wasn't expecting some of the extremities of that weirdness such as zombie sex and midget zombie babies getting punched. It was certainly absurd.
Then there was the giant zombie old lady naked huge ass saggy boobed zombie. This film was seriously gross in pretty much every possible way. What the hell Peter Jackson. Please stick to what you do best; making long ass movies for nerds with hard-ons for elves.
Although the lawnmower scene was truly epic, like something out of an Evil Dead movie.
Peter Jackson got his start with shocking movies designed to attract attention, like Bad Taste. Meet the Feeples is another good example, being an x rated parody of the Muppet Show.
Heavenly Creatures is a good transitional film where two schoolgirls become emotionally attached to each other, enough to kill people for. The made up world they share look like an early draft for LOTR.

i dont know if it was becaus i was verry tired when i watched it, but i really hated the movie.
it was a little too much pimped. and it was clear that Milla Jovovich was casted just becaus she is the directors wife. so they just made up the character Milady for her, and she just doesnt fit the picture.
edit: alright i googled it... he didnt just make up the character Milady, but he did put her on the forground just to put his wife in the spotlight.

This movie was great. It was so sad, and very realistic in its portrayal. It's a story about an English girl who studies in LA and falls in love with one of the other students, and their trials with a long distance relationship. I definitely recommend it to someone who wants to watch a romantic movie that isn't sappy, and wants to feel really sad.
Casa de mi Padre: Do you think Spanish Language soap operas(telenovela) are hilarious in and of themselves? I do and I enjoyed this parody of the genre. I recommend!

Regretably not as good as Up in the Air by the same director as this film.
