Not quite, although that actually fits the riddle pretty well.

Not quite, although that actually fits the riddle pretty well.
Something to do with Aeris and the activation of Holy?
No. It's not something that's terribly important to the story.
Something to do with sephiroth?
The riddle has nothing to do with Sephiroth.
What about Yuffie?
Yuffie could potentially be involved, in a peripheral sense, but has nothing to do with it specifically.
Thanks. :) Well, I could have made it harder by asking what each line meant, but that's okay. :greenie:Quote:

Anywhoo. Would it have something to do with the mini-games?
It might be that Mog mini-game where you feed him nuts to let him fly.
The riddle does not refer to a minigame.
For some reason Great Gospel popped into my head. Anything to do with that?
Is it possibly the slap-off?
The riddle has nothing to do with Great Gospel, nor any other Limit Break.Quote:

Does the first line have to do with the "Wait" function of the ATB?
Nothing to do with ATB, although that reading actually makes a lot of sense.
i think it relates to vincent
In life, time doesn't stop for the hesitant - he hesitated to act on hojo and lost lucrecia because of it
In fact, indecision might even pull you down - after confronting hojo he got shot down
But all Clouds have silver lining - when cloud appears . . .
When you fall, you arise stronger - he wakes much stronger than he ever was as a turk
Oh! Is it the clock face part of the Temple of Ancients? You can drop down to get some nifty prizes.
red XIII/cait sith? berserk magic?
Yup. :p The first two lines refer to hesitating on the "clock," and in turn being knocked down by the second hand. When the party arises and defeats the Ancient Dragons, Cloud becomes stronger, as he acquires the Nail Bat.Quote:

The window to buy these is narrow
And your pockets aren't very deep
To get a full collection you must
Engage in some ghostbusting
I want to say Ghost Hand as it is not obtainable after the Train Graveyard, but it isn't possible to purchase them anywhere.
It's not Ghost Hand, but you're in the right neighborhood.
I'm only 1% sure, Striking Staff?
Not the Striking Staff.
Ether?
Not Ethers.
Must be Gravilball then.
Unless Potion is the answer.
Actually, it's neither.
Hint:
It's (SPOILER)equipable.
Iron Bangle?
Correct ForestOwl! :)
Your go.
Sorry for the delay. Had to catch up on some uni work.
I am your door to freedom
I shall not let you pass
Unmoving I remain
Though this place falls around me.
No more ForestOwl. :(
Demon Gate?
That's right, no more ForestOwl. I wanted a change.
Demon Gate is correct. Your turn.
Cool. Hmm...
I may be bizarre
But my power is toxic.
My home lies in the west.
I suck at making riddles. :irked:
Bizarre Bug. The name matches the description, they employ the technique Toxic Powder, and are found in the Wutai area (the west, so to speak).
Yeah. It was way too easy, huh? :weep:
Actually, the difficulty level was fine. The only real difference between your riddle and many of the previous ones was that you used very specific terms, which allowed it to be narrowed down more easily. Nice riddle.
As for the next one...
Size is deceptive at times
Smaller options can yield a greater prize
But even bigger choices can still be
treasure a dragon would crave.
The items at the Wonder Square?
The first two lines refer to the Carob Nut. It has a relatively small price, yet is used in the production of a Gold Chocobo (the greater prize). The third and fourth lines refer to the Gil Plus materia. Dragons traditionally hoard gold.
No. Good guess, though.
Anything to do with the puzzles in the Temple of the Ancients and the Black Materia?
Nothing to do with the Temple of the Ancients, nor the Black Materia.
Is the answer armor? The ones that yield greater rewards (growth rates for materia) usually have less options (slots to place them in).
The Dragon Bracelet (Armlet?), on the other hand, has more slots, but a normal growth rate. And the Blue Dragon in Gaea's Cliff drops one!
By the way...the title to my last post said "looks like this is a good one," but after reading back a ways, I see that almost every riddle here is a good one.
I'm new to riddle threads, so I can't claim the judgement of a veteran, but I think the riddles here are consistently better than ones I've found elsewhere. :) I'll try to come up with good ones, too.
[leeza]Please do not post more than once in a row. If you wish to add to your post, use the edit/delete button. There is one in every post. ~ Leeza[/leeza]
Bahamut Materia? Lost Number?
The answer is not armor, Dragon Armlet, Bahamut materia, or Lost Number. musenji seems to be on the right track, however. Please try to make only one guess at a time.
is it the fight against Emerald Weapon?
Dragon Armlet actually wasn't a second guess for me--it was part of my explanation for why I guessed "armor." Seemingly on the right track?...have to think some more...
Sorry about the double-post, Leeza. It did occur to me that it looked awkward. From now on I'll do as you have instructed.
is it the pot at northern crater that can give item if you give elixir?
tonberry?
Hellloo...did this thread just die out?
Cloud's swords?
Okay...My sister told me the answer, but I thought that it might be dishonorable to post an answer that wasn't mine, so I didn't.
However, Masamune 1600 hasn't responded for almost 5 days. Does anyone want to keep guessing for it (whoever is right would post the new riddle), or should I just post it and explain the answer (I'd post the next one)?
You post.
All right then. The answer to his riddle is the choice between the big box or little box in the house by Gongaga. The little box gives you Great Gospel (the greater prize). The big box gives you the Gold Armlet (treasure a dragon would crave, since as Twilight said, "dragons traditionally hoard gold").
Here's mine:
I reside in darkness where evil’s enlightened
Mostly contorted, but sometimes I’m heightened
If you look around, you can tell I’ve been preying
Though when I appear, the guitarist keeps playing
i'll assume its a boss cos the boss music contains a guitar. maybe GI natak?
It's not a boss. It is an enemy, however. Pay close attention to the wording of the last line...
Why do I think I should know this? A guitarist enemy? Attack?
Uh, no, sorry. As far as I know, none of the enemies actually play guitar. :) Is "Attack" the name of an enemy? It's not the answer, either way...if you think you should know it, keep thinkin!
any monster in Temple of The Ancients?
the one you fight when you fall from time tower. 8 eyes I think?
Nope, not from the Temple of the Ancients, but that place does fit a couple parts of the riddle pretty well.
Somehow I'm thinking Dyne?
Nope, Dyne's a boss. And although you do see evidence of him having killed people, that evidence isn't immediately present when you fight him.
guitarist keeps playin, so maybe a fight AFTER a boss, does the music stay on after uve fought guard scorpion in 1st mako reactor?
Not any of the enemies in the mako reactor. "The guitarist" is not referring to boss music. But you have the right train of thought.
Also, I believe vivi_ultima was thinking correctly about one of the other lines, but I can't be sure, cause he didn't say why he was thinking about the Temple of the Ancients.
EDIT: haha, by the way, d£v!l'$...I love your quote. It reminds me of a book I read once. (clever alternative use of characters in your name, too :))
the ancient in the temple that can't talk?
fly that you fight if you fall?
Demon's gate? Red Dragon?
No..Vivi...I already said it's not from the Temple of the Ancients. I was merely saying that you might have been thinking in the right way, about one of the lines of the riddle...I was looking for you to tell me why you thought it was something from the Temple.
Simply guessing:the shrine where Aeris prayed in the Forbidden City?
No...the answer is an enemy you fight. If you're referring to the riddle I sent to you, that's a different riddle than the one currently on this board.
The Jenova when aeris has been killed?
Aeris has been praying here, and all the jenovas bosses are a bit of jenova curled up...
and the same music keeps playing throughout (aeris death music)?
AND its pretty dark...
Dunno, am i right :D?
eventhough it's aeris theme, jenova LIFE is a boss.
Right...I already said it's not a boss. Props to gyaku for thinking about the contorted/heightened part, though. Once the new page starts, I'll repost the riddle in its original form. There were actually two more lines, but I was afraid it'd be too easy.
is it an enemy with wierd music like... a chocobo lol?
or is it an enemy that uses musical attacks like frogs?
No, neither of those. Check out the latest post by d£v!l'$ ph0£n!x (6:15 am today)...he was on the right track regarding the meaning of the last line. Particularly the word "keeps."
Midgar Zolom?
No...could you explain the reasoning? Ohhh is it cause of the contorted/heightened thing? If that's the case, nice thinking...Man, I really hope it starts the new page soon, then I can repost with the two missing lines.
it was because of the contorted heigtened... the only other enemy i can think of that gets all contorted and then heightened is carry armor... and hes a boss
I just realized it'll be a while before it starts the new page, so here is the full riddle.
***************
I reside in darkness where evil’s enlightened
Mostly contorted, but sometimes I’m heightened
My movements are likely to give you the jitters--
Much more so than the blood-sucking critters.
If you look around, you can tell I’ve been preying
Though when I appear, the guitarist keeps playing
***************
hmm...
i dont know about the guitarist keeps playing but the zombie like monsters in the shinra mansion basement give me th jitters, are in darkness, are surrounded by coffins, and are contorted. i doubt its the right answer but ill give it a shot
hmm...
How might that relate to the part about evil being enlightened?
EDIT: I wasn't making fun with the "hmm". You got the answer right. I just wanted to see you make that other connection (I assumed it'd be a big "OH!" moment).
Line 1: The Shinra Basement is where Sephiroth discovers [most of] the truth about his past.
Line 2: When Ying/Yang (the creature) is standing up straight, it's really pretty tall.
Line 6: The music for the basement is based on acoustic guitar, and doesn't stop when you fight enemies. It's the only place I know of where that happens, besides the big action scenes.
At any rate, it's your turn!
yay im cool... hmm...
Fight us if you must,
We really don't care.
We do it cuz its our job
And you meddle in our affairs.
If you help us we'll help you,
We'll get the last laugh,
And Aerith too.
Not that good but im busy fighting hojo on this file right now... Gl it should be pretty easy.
The Turks?
yep your turn
Lonely, surrounded by words
A false power granted by those above
Zero at least, twelve at most
Laid end to end, the puzzle will be complete.
Who am I?
the temple of the ancients puzzle which gives you Black Materia?
Nope.
the clock towers in the temple?
the mini-games at fort condor?
The riddle asks 'Who am I?'. Therefore it is not a clock tower or a mini-game.
The mayor of Midgar in the Shinra building has no real power (those who do live above him), he lives alone next to a library, and you have to assemble a word from the different sections to solve his puzzle.
...But that's not the answer. The solution to his puzzle always has four letters...not anywhere from 0 to 12. Jus' lettin' ya know I'm thinking. :)
Btw, you've been riddling for over a year now? I just found an old thread by accident...
It hasn't been that long. It's 16 weeks to the day since I joined this thread.
Are you sure? Final answer?Quote:
...But that's not the answer.
is it the mayor of midgar!? :D
i think the 12 mite be the 12 different answers u can pik
d£v!l'$ ph0£n!x gets it. The Mayor is called Domino. Dominoes can be blank (no spots) or have up to two sixes (12 spots), and you play the game by placing the domino counters end to end. As ususal, my riddles refer to something outside the game.
LOL ...I went to check the room, cause I was suspicious (too much of it matched really well), and then I came back and saw your last post. Not much else you could really say, right? You either give it away or let people assume that that's really not the answer. :)
The third line refers to how many bookshelves you check before answering the mayor.
Mayor Domino. Final answer.
EDIT: AAAAAA!!!! Oh that's a steal, man, to find out someone just got it, and probably cause I didn't do my research first (but managed to justify the rest of the riddle to anyone who'd read my answer). There are 12 bookshelves in the library...so your riddle makes sense entirely within the context of the game. (btw, only 6 answers to choose from, devil's)
Either of you can post the next riddle, since you did both get it right.
Haha....It was just one of those moments, you know? :)
d£v!l'$ ph0£n!x, you said it as an answer first--so I think you should take it, unless you don't feel like it. I have to leave for several hours anyway, so it might hold up the thread if I posted right now.
EDIT: Check this link, Endless. I mean, that's you, right? February of 2004. I know, it's a different thread.. http://forums.eyesonff.com/showthread.php?t=42953
So it is. I forgot about that thread. Has it really been that long?
d£v!l'$ ph0£n!x, you're up.
am gona let musenji have it, cos technically he did have the answer and like he sed i stole it, and i dont want to be a common thief :D
i like making friends :D
Yeah...I sort of made a donkey of myself. Sorry about that. I was pretty tired at the time, though I got over it really fast.
This might break the rules, I'm not sure:
I'm only found once in FF 6,
Keeping company with poor fools
who like to play tricks.
I'm found once more in FF 8,
With a lonely child in yellow,
vowing to carry his own weight.
Oddly, I'm not found in FF 7.
though you can clearly see my product by land,
and my source by heaven.
Even if you haven't played the others, it's entirely possible to figure it out from just the last stanza. Bonus points if you can identify the other references. :)
that's hard, I really don't know much about FF6 and FF8,
guess: Biggs and Wedge.
Did you mix up the numbers for 7 and 8? If so, my answer is Ramuh.
Couldn't be, Biggs and Wedge were in FF7 as members of Avalanche
My guess would be rain.
I'm only found once in FF 6,
Keeping company with poor fools
who like to play tricks. (there's rain in one place only, Zozo, people lie a lot and play tricks)
I'm found once more in FF 8,
With a lonely child in yellow,
vowing to carry his own weight. (found in the orphanage flashback scenes (with Squall standing alone)
Oddly, I'm not found in FF 7.
though you can clearly see my product by land,
and my source by heaven. (any scenes with rain here?)
A gunblade?
Hahaha...more than six hours pass, and then four different people post within 10 minutes of each other. Crazy odds!
The answer is rain. The last stanza refers to lakes/rivers (the product), and clouds (the source). I'm pretty sure there aren't any scenes with rain in FF7. There might be rain when you summon Odin, but I didn't take that into consideration. ...There aren't any gunblades in VI.
Halenite, you're up.
FQ then, I haven't played VII in a while
FQ? Does that mean free question? That's all I can think of it meaning, unless you misinterpreted what I said. You got the answer right, so it's your turn to post a riddle (unless "fq" means you're giving your turn up to whoever wants to post).
yah, FQ is me giving up my riddle. Free Question
Mind if I make one?
Lover of the sky
But was and will remain a part of the earth
A clear passage I provide
But errors lead to quick exits.
Who am I?
Errr...Ultimate Weapon?
Is is... Aeris?
She seems to like the airship, she is in the lifestream, and she does make quite a quick exit from the game :P
I have two guess
Jenova?
Terror of the skies.
Jenova in the land not flying in the sky.
Something to do with cargo ship
End up battling Jenova BIRTH
Cid?
He want to fly and want to go to outerspace
Human can't fly, it's technology which makes human fly so Cid still in his Rocket Town
Something to do with Huge Materia in disc 2
can't guess it in 2 minutes, the materia gone.
It's not any of those.
Lover of the sky
But was and will remain a part of the earth
A clear passage I provide
But errors lead to quick exits.
Who am I?
the ancient forest?
I didn't realise the Ancient Forest was a person...
Godo?
No, not Godo.
None of my answers seem to fit all four lines, but I'll have a go anyway.
Jessie?
(no explanation for line 1, she loves technology..)
As far as we know, she's never left the slums.
She provides you with fake ID's for passage on the train,
--checkpoint is earlier than expected; you have to jump off.
Jessie is correct. The first line refers to her liking Cloud, the second refers to her involvement in AVALANCHE. You got the last two lines sorted.
Your turn, musenji.
aww man! You know, I even thought about the fact that she liked Cloud, but didn't make the connection...and I figured there was a trickier meaning to the second line... Two puns in one riddle--I love it! Okay, here's one.
Find me by land, or much later by sky
When doom is at hand, the first option will die.
Twice I'm there when you've escaped via rope;
Once while unconscious and regaining hope.
It should be noted, I've more than one form--
Sometimes I'm chilling, but usually I'm warm.
If you are dextrous, then carry me well
To coax divine pow'r from an old corpse's shell
I'll pass on this one,he PMed me once but I couln't get it.
The WEAPONs?
Nope
Highwind?
Nope
Tifa?
No...she's actually present after three rope escapes (just something I thought of, not necessarily the most significant clash).
Can you tell us if we're supposed to be looking for a who, a what, or a where?
Sure. It's a "what".
Phoenix materia?
Nope... I should probably say that this one's a toughie. But every line fits, and there aren't any references to anything outside of the game.
Ok...I'll try:
The diferents vehicules we use in the game?
Find me by land, or much later by sky(your first vehicule is the chocobo to pass the midgar zolom, who can only walk, and it's just on the cd2 with the highwind that you can go by the sky)
When doom is at hand, the first option will die.(at the beginning of the 2nd disk, the buggy and the Tiny Bronco, your first 'set' of vehicule, have disappeared)
Twice I'm there when you've escaped via rope;(the first time you escape via rope, the turk helicopter is there, and later in the game you can use elicopter in junon. The second time you escape with a rope, the highwind is there)
Once while unconscious and regaining hope.(there I really don't know)
It should be noted, I've more than one form--(well,you have birds,plane,etc...)
Sometimes I'm chilling, but usually I'm warm.(hum...well,most of them and the chocobo sould be warm, but the tiny bronco and the submarine sould be colder than the other 'cause they are in water)
If you are dextrous, then carry me well(well, only the pilots can use the tiny bronco,so...they need to be dextrous....)
To coax divine pow'r from an old corpse's shell(I don't understand completly this sentences,so I don't know...)
Sorry if my explanation are not clear...but I speak french irl,and my english is not perfect
Sorry, that's not it. Good thinking though, the answer works for most of the riddle...and a lot of it is clever. I could change a couple of lines and end up with your answer. :) Oh, and I understood what you were saying--no problem.
I forgot about the land vehicles disappearing...but that happens after Sephiroth summons Meteor, right?
In line 8, "coax" means "bring forth." Also, I changed "power" to "pow'r" so that it would fit the line. If I ignored rhythm/meter, then line 8 would be:
"To bring forth divine power from an old corpse's shell."
Does that help?
Is it Jenova?
Nope...I might have said that's been eliminated, but Jenova is more of a "what" than a "who"..
E. Skill Materia?
No, not that...should I give a hint?
yes, gives lots a hint.
Aeris? Holy?
Not either of those. Here are the hints..
1. It's not a person or a place.
2. If it were missing, the main plotline would not change at all.
I did say #1 earlier...
until u sed not a place i wud hav sed mythril cave (with the sleeping man in it)
if its not a person or place, cud it b materia?
I don't mean to be rude, but as I understand it, asking if it's materia (in general) is not appropriate...it either narrows it all down to one category, or eliminates that category. And I thought that's what the occasional hints were for. But...if materia is really your guess, could you provide a little explanation so I understand?
I'm pretty new here, so if what I just said is wrong, or improper, someone tell me, because this is the first time I've questioned the validity of a guess.
And for the record, I like d£v!l'$ ph0£n!x. Not trying to pick on him or anything. :p
this is a toughie, i have a guess...
aeris's spirit?
this may be way off lol, but well... "the first option will die" aka her body...
she speaks to cloud in a dream, "once while unconscious and regaining hope"...
and aeris's spirit is carried to the lifestream, bringing forth the holy power: "to coax divine pow'r from an old corpse's shell"...
the bit about it not changing the storyline might ruin this guess, of course...
as i said, might be way off :D but thought might as well try!
Sorry, not correct..thanks for trying! Ya, her spirit bringing forth Holy was a pretty big plot point...let's see, I'll give another little snippet.
Meteor is the doom that the 2nd line refers to.
Ultima Weapon?
Find me by land, or much later by sky
When doom is at hand, the first option will die.(not sure about land, but the sword can only be gotten by fighting the WEAPON by air)
Twice I'm there when you've escaped via rope;
Once while unconscious and regaining hope. (you have to fight WEAPON twice in the air at least and once while Cloud's unconscious)
It should be noted, I've more than one form--
Sometimes I'm chilling, but usually I'm warm. (two forms, the WEAPON and the sword)
If you are dextrous, then carry me well (you must be skilled to use it?)
To coax divine pow'r from an old corpse's shell (you get the Ultima Weapon by killing Ultima WEAPON)
Nope. A few "hintlings" based on your guess.. The answer is accessible by land in the beginning. Line 3 refers to two specific times you escape by rope in the game, and highwind isn't there for either of them. Line 4 does refer to when Cloud is unconscious (btw nice fit there with your answer), but "regaining hope" indicates a more specific time...
Is it the lifestream?
No.. I did already say that if the answer were missing from the game, the main plotline would not change..in other words, the answer is not part of the main storyline. I’ll re-post, with all the guesses listed, and a new hint.
Find me by land, or much later by sky
When doom is at hand, the first option will die.
Twice I'm there when you've escaped via rope;
Once while unconscious and regaining hope.
It should be noted, I've more than one form--
Sometimes I'm chilling, but usually I'm warm.
If you are dextrous, then carry me well
To coax divine pow'r from an old corpse's shell.
Incorrect guesses: WEAPONs, Highwind, Tifa, Phoenix materia, vehicles you use, Jenova, E. Skill materia, Aeris, Holy, Aeris’s spirit, Ultima Weapon, lifestream
Hints:
1. The answer is a “what”, not a “who” or a “where”.
2. It is not part of the main storyline.
3. “Doom” refers to Meteor.
4. Line 5 (about it having more than one form) does not refer to appearance.
...um... huge materia?
Nope. ...look at line 3 of the riddle.
Edit:
(Huge materia is never there just after an escape by rope; however, the answer is--twice.)
I should probably say now that the last two lines of the riddle are the key to it all. If you figure out what they refer to, then it's not hard to figure out the rest.
it sounds like a weapon, or a materia... I'm stumped.... must get thinking... this is very hard!!!
Chocobo?Gold Chocobo?
Nope.
About the fist line, i thought about aeris´s limit4, dont know why.....
Rain?
It really wouldn't change the story, and it has more than one form, such as snow, which is chilling. It also appears at a few points throughout the game...
is dextrous refferring to the dexterity stat? like could it be speed plus materia or something?
apologies for being so vague bout the materia thing, i jus get real analytical :D keep it real!? . . . (what!?)
cna i presume the old corpses shell is aeris, or maybe seto, or bugenhagen
Shucks, only a couple minutes right now...
I can see how the last line might make you think of Great Gospel, but not particularly the first line. Interesting.
Not rain, that was my last riddle. :) Really, it was. Does it appear throughout the game? Send me a PM, cause part of my riddle was that it never appears in ff7 (besides maybe when you summon Odin), but does in ff6 and 8. Anyway...
No, dextrous is the traditional dictionary...oh. Looks like it has a couple dictionary meanings. Well, I mean "good or quick with one's hands."
No, the corpse isn't Aeris, Seto, or Bugenhagen. I might say more when I get back tonight, but keep thinking! Ya'll sound like you're starting to hone in.
ummm??? Cloud's Swords? The way im looking they fit well... mebbe not argh this is tuff
Not cloud's swords. I'll add that it's not any type of weapon. And to oblige d£v!l'$ ph0£n!x from earlier (and TheGoldenChocobo more recently), it's not a materia either.
(edited) There have been some good guesses so far (one that fits almost all of the riddle)...but none of the guesses so far are close to the nature of the answer.
(additional edit): d£v!l'$, I just looked up "corpse"...I probably ought to tell you that the corpse is/was not of a human or other sentient life form.
For some reason 'an old corpses shell' makes me think of the city of the ancients... ... anywhere near?
No, the corpse was of a real living thing.
Has this riddle been going too long? Let me know... If you want to solve it, it'll stay. If people say they'd rather move on, but a couple really wanna solve it, I'd be willing to correspond individually.
maybe another clue...?
Gotta wait till some others have a chance to see the hints I just posted, first. I added them pretty late last night.
Could it be the submarine?
no, "vehicles you use" was already guessed, and that's one of them. There are also a few other things that conflict with that answer.
highwind?
....??? I just said vehicles were already guessed (though perhaps you just missed that last post). Highwind was also guessed, by name. If you're going to answer, please make sure your answer has not already been given. There's a list of incorrect guesses, near the top of this page, along with the re-posted riddle. There are also hints given in that post, at least one of which contradicts highwind... Some people guessed things after that; please check those too.
If no one gets it by the end of today (10 and a half hours from now, by my clock), I'll probably take down the riddle and give the floor to someone else; I don't know who yet.
tiny bronco
Does the corpse's shell refer to the dinosaur skull in Bone village?
No, it doesn't.
Typhoon? (I'm thinking something in the Ancient Forest)
Ancient Forest makes ok sense. You can find it by land (mountain chocobo), or later by air (highwind).
Right, except that Sephiroth summoning Meteor doesn't keep you from accessing it by land (line 2), it's never there after an escape by rope (line 3), it doesn't (necessarily) fit line 4, and you don't use it to get a "divine" power (line 8).
The answer really does have to fit every line...
Divine power means the power that you use the answer to get is "divinely named".
BG-57 (and anyone else trying to unlock the last line): I ought to say that "corpse's shell" is perhaps misleading. It's a man-made thing--a shell made from a corpse.
I'll guess that the answer is the water from the hot spring in Great Glacier.
Great Glacier is first reached by an extended overland trek to Icicle Inn, followed by the snowboarding sequence, followed by the actual navigation of Great Glacier. Obtaining the Highwind at least eliminates the inital trek.Quote:

A reference to encountering Snow. Without water, "chilling" applies, although actually having warmed one's hands will enrage Snow.Quote:

Carrying the warmth to Snow will initiate the fight. After defeating her, you will receive Alexander materia (from her "corpse"). Alexander employs the "divine" power--Judgment.Quote:

I know this goes against the hints already given, but I thought a little analysis might at least get us closer.
Okay, but having obtained the highwind, it's still possible to make that trek by land, right? I'm saying after you have the Highwind--when Meteor has been summoned--the answer is no longer accessible by land.Quote:

(looks like I'll let this go a bit longer)
Is the answer related to the Northern Crater? There's an overland route that gets cut off and you can only reach it by airship.
Also there's a bony staircase in the right path. Dragon Zombies on the path can teach Pandora's Box.
Parts of the paths to it are cold (the glacier) and parts are hot (the hot springs).
Gold Saucer? Midgar?Whirlwind Maze?
If it's not related to the Northern Crater, then the mission back to Shinra HQ would be my second guess, since the party parachutes in the second time.
Not any of those things.
Vivi, I already said it wasn't a place.
BG, it's not related to the Northern Crater (aside from the fact that line 2 refers to Meteor, and the NC is where it's cast). Not Midgar in the way you were thinking, either. But both of the rope escapes refer to Midgar.
Like I said, "corpse's shell" is a bit misleading. "Shell made from a corpse" would be more appropriate, but it wouldn't rhyme. And that doesn't refer to the use of Mako to create Midgar, though that fits quite well (since it slowly turns the planet into a corpse). The life form was already dead before someone made the shell.
EDIT: There are two direct clues to what type of thing the answer is in the riddle; however, one is a pun, and the other will probably make you think the answer is an entirely different type of thing (in fact, I'm sure it already has).
vincents coffin (coffin room)
Could you explain the answer a bit?
EDIT: Okay, he's in London, so he's probably asleep by now, so I'll say that that's not the right answer, in the interest of time. I really would appreciate some explanation with a person's answer. If the answer isn't correct, then the explanation will get me to give more information, and it will probably get some new ideas out there.
It did seem like his thought might have lead somewhere, but I don't know why he gave that answer.
this is driving me crazy i have no idea could u plz reveal the answer sometime soon im very curious...
disqualified :\
K, I'll say it again: The last two lines are the key to the whole thing (and especially line 8). If you figure out what they mean, the rest is likely to be a snap.
Go back, read those two lines (read line 8 four times :)), then look at the recent posts about the whole "corpse's shell" business. That should give you a kickstart.
I've read the riddle like 20x and i have no idea... and i thought i woudl do well because i played through and beat the entire game a few days ago... this is driving me crazy
k, but stop reading/thinking about the whole riddle, just follow the instructions in my previous post.
i did and i still have no idea... oh well ill just check back later and see if someone has gotten it
K, the divine power is a limit break....
Mythril? You need it to get Great Gospel right?Gospel means something like divine,I'm sure about this.
Time to make a post on what I'm thinking.
I've been puzzling over 'divine power' - could it be a limit break?
A shell made from an old corpse - pianos are made from ivory, which is found in the skeletons of whales or something. Guess where Final Heaven is found?
I don't think that fits with verse 1 very well - Great Gospel fits that better, for obvious reasons.
Neither of these fit well with verses 2 or 3 - except verse 3 alludes to different forms, and these L4 items do have different forms for different people.
This leads me to believe that the answer is "limit breaks" in general. Fits line 7 - you must be dexterous or skilled. Verse 2 is the anomaly here.
Skip if right, please - I'll be out for the weekend. Thanks for the PM and the opportunity to reminisce about the old thread, musenji. :D
edit: oh.
Sorry, Mythril's not the answer...you're thinking in the right way about the power, though.
EDIT: Neel, the power itself is not the answer; the answer is the narrator of the riddle. You're very close.
EDIT 2: Looks like Neel's gone, so whoever wants to shoot a barreled fish :), please give as full of an explanation as you can.
this is hard. All Creation?
Find me by land, or much later by sky
When doom is at hand, the first option will die.
You can reach Wutai by Tiny Bronco but you must use Highwind to go for it after Meteor's summoned. that's weird cause you can arrive to these place with chocobo.
Twice I'm there when you've escaped via rope;
Once while unconscious and regaining hope.
Wutai is reachable when you escaped Shinra. About second line, I don't know anything cause Wutai does not related to Lifestream.
EDIT: Yuffie and Rikku look alike, you think?
It should be noted, I've more than one form--
Sometimes I'm chilling, but usually I'm warm.
Yuffie probably. Yuffie have good and bad expression. She's chilling sometimes but she's warm (I don't think she look warm).

To coax divine pow'r from an old corpse's shell.
This girl fast. You get a choice to get her into the party, if you get you can activate certain bad event. Old corpse's shell maybe is the pagoda? All Creation name look like divine name.
So ALL CREATION.
Very complete explanation. But I don't think that All Creation has anything to do with divine stuff.
I think All Creation name seems to have divine stuff in it.
Thank you for explaining, Vivi--but it's not the answer. Did you read my response to Neel With A Bat?
Regarding your explanation for line 3: the answer isn't just available after the two rope escapes, it's there. Not far away at all.
I believe you were right about one thing: All Creation is a "divine" power, at least in most religions. The ability to create all of existence is reserved for the divine, assuming that you believe existence was created. I don't remember the actual limit break's effects, but what matters in this riddle is the name of the power, not the contents.
I really can't think much, I have not play this game for a year, I don't know much now, so, can you give another hint?
Princess Guard?Venus Gospel?
is it related to Aeris?
Not related to Aeris...no more hints, but I'll send ya a pm.
Edit, 7 hours later: Wow! I really thought someone would've got it by now...Neel With A Bat was on the right track, very close to the answer. He just answered what the divine power was, instead of the narrator (read line 7 to figure out the narrator's relation to the divine power).

Is it Mythril? Before Meteor, you can get it from the sleeping man with the buggy, but after you have to use Highwind. The Dextrous armor shop maker can use the Mythril well, and he gives you Final Gospel when you trade it to him.
The second set of lines throws me off a little, but it could have to do with the other things you get from the sleeping man. Ice ring/Bolt ring right?
I'm surprised you saw the note about the limit break, but not the other "mythril" guess. So...it's been guessed already--not the right answer.
Still, nice thinking.
Yeah.. well I just looked at this thread for the first time today, so I only kinda skimmed everything ><Quote:

Not the piano--you're so close on the train of thought, though. Re-read lines 1-6, that might help.
I believe the answer is music, or more specifically the Highwind Theme.
After Meteor appears, the Highwind theme can only be heard while actually flying it. It could, however, be heard previously.Quote:

The tone or form of the music can change. Usually, it's "warm."Quote:

Playing the piano (as previously revealed, the "old corpse's shell) skillfully (or at least accurately) will "coax" forth the divine power, Final Heaven.Quote:

wow masamune... thats some extreme logic there  me and bro tried for 20 mins trying to figure out what it was and couldnt find out lol I think you got it :D
