Then i completely misunderstood! Sorry!
But back on topic.
I recently watched:
Looper - Pretty great film. Unfortunately I spent most of the film trying to figure out what will happen, instead of just waiting for the answers to come, meaning I actually missed the dramatic nuances of the film.
Having Bruce Willis in it made me think it would me more like Surrogates. Thankfully it wasn't.
There's one scene near the start of the film that really confused me though, and it has to do with a time travelling segment.
Pirates of the Carribean 4 - Meh
The Count of Monte Cristo (Cavaziel and Guy Pearce version) - Not so great version of Dumas' book. I don't expect too much from a feature length movie about a very very long novel, but it was mostly the strange happy ending that ruined it for me.
and some others i can't remember.
Lincoln.
I can't find a single thing to criticise about this film. Easily the best picture I've seen all year. Nothing else even comes close.
I watched ParaNorman last night, it was absolutely fantastic! Everyone should watch it :)
Haywire
Gina Carano, Michael Angarano, Michael Fassbender, Ewan McGregor, Antonio Banderas, Channing Tatum, Bill Paxton, Michael Douglas
I just watched it a half-hour ago, but now I don't remember what I wanted to say about it. It was good. I like the idea of films that don't have a musical score, but I think the lonely battle sequences between Gina Carano and her always singular opponents is an emptiness that leaves me feeling sadly bored. I think battle sequences with more clutter onscreen should be unscored while battles between individuals should have awesome music.
Our Idiot Brother (2011) 8/10
Fantastic, all star cast including Paul Rudd, Elizabeth Banks, Adam Scott, Zooey Deschanel Rashida Jones and Emily Mortimer. A pretty typical feel-good comedy along the lines of 40 Year Old Virgin and Knocked Up writing styles.
I'm surprised this film isn't rated higher - the only thing I didn't like about it was that it really wasn't more creative, I suppose. Other than that, it's super cute and entertaining and definitely worth watching if you're in a feel-good comedy mood.
The Dark Knight Rises
Why the Hell is Gotham City suddenly New York? Explain that to me?!!
the last movie I watched was The 40 Year Old Virgin, with Steve Carell. I watched because I was really into The Office and he's the main character as well.
It's a really funny movie, exacly what you can expect from a Steve Carell's movie. It's not a masterpiece, but it's really worth watching.
Django Unchained
Excellent, great feel-good movie, but there were a few vagaries and missed opportunities at some excellent development in character and plot.... and a slightly weak ending.
Die Hard
Do I even need to say anything?
It was a joyride of explosions and one-liners.
Great way to end the winter break I say.
The Day the Earth Stood Still (2008)
Keanu Reeves was fantastic in it, but aside of that it's a pretty unremarkable film with lousy CGI work.
