I agree with Tav's opinion of Mercs: use an Infinity rather than an Insight.
You can always quaff potions when your Mana gets low, whereas you can't do much about Fire Immunes other than, well, flee or for sad amounts of Lightning damage. Also, your merc is then granted crushing blow (40%).
And I also agree with using Fort rather than CoH. Fort offers damage, but most importantly, high defense and a chance to cast Chilling Armor.
I personally like the Delirium helm for mercs most, as the chance to cast Confuse and Mindblast is rather beneficial, made even more so by the +2 All Skills mod, which raises the merc's aura.
It also offers high defense bonuses.
The only thing it is missing is Life leech.

Hmmmm...maybe I should go for an infinity. Once I break immunity, do I get full amount of Res Lowering, or does it remain at 1/5 of total amount?
-
Magefists offers increased Mana regeneration, which should speed up, ever so slightly your mana regen.
What is unfortunate about -enemy resistance is that the hit only applies to the mercenary. 55% would help, but once you have 50k Lightning, that's not much of a problem.
Lifesteal shouldn't be too much a problem, especially because with a pure Lightning Sorceress, everything except Ubers will be dead by the time they get onscreen. If you've got a good Smiter helping you out, everything will be dead.
As for a character revamp, it shouldn't be too hard to find what you need, seeing as we are all one big family here, we should have, if not optimal, sufficient equipment.
Once immunity is broekn, then the remaning minus resistance works at 1/5 capacitiy. For example, if I had -150% Lightning resistance, and an enemy has 130% Lightning resistance, it would chop off 30 to bring it below 100%, then the remaning -120% would be divided by five, 24%, and subtracted from 100%, leaving your total resistance at 76%.
But once your damage exceeds 10k (which is possible even with base skills), that's 25% of 4 to ~10000, 1 to ~2500 per shot, at 2 shots per second, for 4 seconds on a typical enemy. An average comes out to 1250*2*4. An impressive amount, even for Final Fantasy standards, but as we know, Diablo characters would own Final Fantasy, even on their own system. Frenzy wins Sephiroth. It's been proven.

What would you say is the most insane build?
This can be in terms of finding correct items, dmg output, tanking abilities, how much of an irony or oxymoron the build is on paper, etc...
-
Blessed Hammers, actually. The only thing that might surpass it in pure damage is a Frenzy Barbarian with Axes, or a Smiter because of stunlock.
With level 20 Hammers, synergies, and Concentrate, the damage is instantly boosted to 10k, minimum and maximum. If you got Offensive Aura Grand Charms, the damage would go upwards of 30k. Skill equipment could easily get it to 40k, and unlike elementals, they ignore defenses (if not deal extra) of Demons and Undead, and are fallible only to Magic-Immune animals (anything not a demon or undead).
BtV claims that Concentrater Barbarians are nigh unkillable.
Each of the elemental Sorceresses have their own style of ownage. Fire can attack extremely fast, Lightning does the most damage to the most enemies, and Cold is very easy to use.
Dragoons bring FF and DII together, and as we all know, FF fails to DII. However, in dueling, Dragoons are very effective with their Knockback from Leap.
Whirlwind received over 10 nerfs since its inception, and is still a very popular build.
Corpse Explosion used to be rigged, and it still is.
Trap Assassins are newbie, since you lay down some traps and wait for a bunch of dead enemies. Go bake a cake, look after some children, burn your hand and get rushed to the hospital, come back, and you're standing in a fire doing 5 damage a second, and you're somehow, still alive. If only this worked in real life.
Necromancers are kind of meh, but Summoners do uber-lag, which is a gift in and of itself. The gift of EXP loss.
Druids win you. End of discussion. Shapeshift. Wind. Summoning.
Strafers are like Barbarians, but are ranged, and kind of suck. But they are blonde, and we all know that blondes have more fun. Their Valkyrie cohorts usually go somewhere and do something. They also get Lightning Strike Amazons, which are like Lightning Sorceresses.
There are some non-conventional builds, such as Singing Barbarians, Golem Necromancers, Melee-sins, Charger Paladins (dueling), Vengeance Paladins (no longer viable past Nightmare), Energy Shield Sorceresses, Hydra Sorceresses, Fire Druids, Elemental Amazons, and many more!

Im contemplating making two new characters... one a Melee-assassin and a hammerdin. What's your suggestions in building since I have, in fact never built either? Gear preference skill plans etc. Any help appreciated.
-
Might come back tomorrow, too lazy to install it right now(actually, too tired) and I need to login my chars so they don't get expired. I might just make a new char.
-
I knew Sorceresses could deal up to 64k damage, but was unaware of the fact that Hammerdins could get up to 40k damage per hammer...
It's no wonder such a build is extremely popular.
EDIT: I want to make a build that gives the following reaction:
"LOL, wut?"
And then surprise them by being viable in Hell difficulty. Do you believe it possible to make a build of that sort?
-
It's installed. Lost about 20 HR's(due to mule expiring) but other than that, everything is good.
As for whoever was trying to make a sorc, I have an item you'll want, but I'm not sure if it's free or not. It's quite valuable.
+2 sorc skills
+20%FCR
+18 Strength
+55 HP
+59 MP
all res +23

Define "Item" please. What category? Weapon?
-
Sounds like an Ammy to me.
This is the best Sorc ammy you can get, it's even better than perfect mara's.
-
Inquire further, please. I have a Ko, and a couple Hels if the help sway said person.
-
Sorry man, this ammy is rare, and has possibly some of the best stats any sorc would want.
Incase you're wondering, it's an Armageddon Fletch.
I need a transfer, anyone.

That's what I meant, Cim...I can't expect someone to trade without offering a contribution at least.
