I'm pretty good at remembering things that aren't names.
I called a guy Eric for 3 years and it turns out his name was Daniel. No one corrected me and they all always knew who I was talking about. I'd be like "Hey, have you seen Eric" and they would send me to him.
He thought it was some kind of "in" joke between us. I felt terrible.
My memory has never been around, and I'm afraid it's getting worse already.
I can remember a ton of stuff from being maybe 2-6, which a lot of people can't from what I have seen. I even have a memory as a one year old.
On the flip side I will forget a minor detail or something brief that someone told here and there and that annoys me.
My memory is frustratingly selective. I'll remember some things perfectly but others will just disappear, no matter how hard I try. I don't think it has anything to do with age though; hopefully my memory doesn't deteriorate too much as I grow older because that would be very depressing...
What was the topic again?
It's really scary when I watch old episodes of something and see a scene which I had cemented in my head play out differently and realise I had formed a false memory. At times I worry when I think what if all my cherished memories were false, but sometimes I recall an embarassing moment from childhood and tell myself "it could be a false memory" and sweep my shame under the bulky rug of my mind.
I remember very weird things, especially to do with people. Things that don't really matter! It's fun to bring them up though and people are like 'what how do you know that' or 'how can you remember that'
I remember some things and forget others. I haven't noticed any sort of deterioration as I am getting older though.
I have the memory of a man in his sixties. I can remember useless trivia and stuff I learned in games and people's faces, but anything important and I'll forget even if a reminder is staring me in the face all day.
my memory used to be amazing. now it is awful. i blame my brain damage or too many sweeties
I forget everything, always have, always will, blame my mother. Can't remember why.
I have what my mom called "Sometimers". hehehe
I forget where my glasses are sometimes or where I put my phone, but when it comes to remembering things when I need to, I always do. Hopefully that will never fade as I age.
There is a running joke at my work place that if you want something looking after- don't give it to me. I lose/misplace EVERYTHING! I think my best to date was last year when my collegue found my sunglasses in the fridge! Bad times!
