What's up with that? Punk is by definition not pop.

Instrumental rap.

rap music is not anti-instrumental by definition, though.

Its a genre of music for those who can't sing either good pop or good punk.

It could also be defined as a "lighter" variation of punk.

I dunno but I like it anyway.

Popular Punk music, it's as simple as that.

Instrumental rap, on the other hand, doesn't make sense.

Not really, as the music isnt at all punk to begin with.

That would be the 'popular' influence, then. :p

It isnt new at all. It's the same basic 'rock' that's been around for quite some time, they just put the band in mohawks and plaid pants and called it punk.

If it had some actual musical sembelance to punk rock I'd have no problem with it, but it doesnt. It sounds nothing whatsoever like punk.

Pop-punk in my opinion:

1. A rock group that USED to be punk, and now has fallen from their glory. (Green Day, maybe?)

2. A band or artist that try to act extremely badass, but still is still just pop with guitars. (Avril Lavigne... or modern Green Day trying to be all political?)

3. Bands that are a bit heavier than bands like... say... Switchfoot, but are still poppish. (Sum 41)

But that's just me.
