It depends on the game. Usually I change it to FFVII's, since I like that one. (O is select, X is cancel.)
I don't change it in the older games.

As you said, it depends on the game.
FFVI: Default
FFVII: Default
FFVIII: Switch O and Triangle
FFIX: Default
FFX: Default
FFX-2: Default
I've always adjusted to the normal button confing.........but as of FFXII I'll start using X as select and O as cancel, I like it just how they have it in FFX(best battle system EVER!:choc2: )
I've always used the default, even when it completely changed what I was used to (the move to having X be confirm). The only real explanation is, it takes less time to get used to an unfamiliar button config in an RPG than to change it.
ff7 was the only one I changed, and then I had to change it back so I could raise chocobos;(
I use the default for all of them. My favorite is from VIII though, because it is the same as Resident Evil 2 and 3 and I played those games before I ever played Final Fantasy.
I only changed 7, I configured X to confirm, trigangle to cancel, and circle to menu.

I always set triangle to menu, X to confirm and O to cancel. I played X-2 and X first and those are button configurations that I am familiar with.
Always been normal.
normal because sometimes custom doesnt work (like the chocobos in FFVII)
For any game i play, not just the FFs, i will keep the default button config. because i am generally just to lazy to go and change it.
VII's was the worst what other PS games do you know makes x the cancel button and O the select?! well I customed for that one , but every other one I think I left it alone.
VIi didn't even let you use the analog sticks!
Old school gamers use O for okay and X for cancel.
