That's a perfectly normal phenomenon, due to evey world being shaped like a giant cylinder. The north end is connected to the south end, therefore going off the top will take you to the bottom and vice versa. Going east to west, though, is still a total mystery.

Then he would dissappear and the person trying to leave would be like "Oh snap!!!" then you would all run off to save the mum from certain death. When you rescue her you also get the brownie item.

It's a cunning plan of SE's. They want to take over the world this way. They don't want to let people know it's a sequel, because if they do, all the worlds would turn into one making it difficult for Square to rule over it. The USA version of FFIV SNES almost gave it away...
