Paladin Cecil is awesome. At least his name actually suits him.
I also wonder this, considering that Paladin Cecil is necessary for the story to get anywhere, as well as adding more depth to Cecil, giving him better fashion sense and making him more powerful in battle than Dark Knight Cecil could ever hope to be. I guess since the Dark Knight is 'badass' it gets priority, or something.
The dark knight class has been available in so few FF games that when it is available people smuther it to death.
Because the armour rocks.
I personally don't have a problem with prettyboys <3.
Because he looks like a chick.
In the GBA remake he looks like an old lady.
I prefer Paladin Cecil over Dark Knight Cecil. IMO he seems more like a badass in Paladin form
I agree. I think Cecil looks way better as a Paladin. I like how he has Gold Armor and how he has a cape. Also as a Paladin he was a much better character. He was more confident and he was a stronger leader.
Dark Knight Cecil was emo. Paladin Cecil was less whiny. Therefore Dark Knight Cecil < Paladin Cecil.
cuz dark knight cecil pwns all weak enemies like goblins and such 1 hit in battle so u dont need to waste time on teh mobs that give 1xp and 1gil
He recieves hate cause his spells are worthless.
And his hair.
He looks gay... i'm not discriminating, just that is not good for a "Knight"... he looks like the sister of Rosa mora than his man =/...
Besides, i like more the Dark Knight class, I don't like a white magic user that just can use helpless spells, and i don't like a knight who is not masculine... =/
well, he is a good fighter anyways, but i almost always let him on berserker status...
Are only looks important to you, Zeromus? What about the fact that his personality is as masculine as ever?
Paladin Cecil doesn't have !Dark Wave instead he gets the not as good !White. Maybe if he learned all of them but nope. In the end Cecil's !White is completely useless compared to Rosa's !White.
Dark Knight Cecil is useless against undead. Paladin Cecil, very useful against undead, and provides another minor healer for a good portion of the game. The Dark Knight to Paladin change in Cecil is very symbolic to the whole "good vs. evil" thing and key in the belief that everyone has a little bit of good in their heart, no matter the evil deeds they have done. A success story about doing the right thing, despite having to sacrifice a lot of things.
Cecil's White magic is not as good because Paladins, any in fantasy setting you are taking part in, are a mix between a melee fighter and a white mage. They do not excel in either area above any of those specific classes, they are more a happy marriage between the two. If you are going to compare Cecil's white magic to Rosa's, be fair enough to compare Rosa's melee abilities to Cecil's, and her abilities to stay alive when placed in the forefront of battle.
I like Cecil because he became what he felt he was supposed to be since the beginning.
I can't really compare Rosa's melee skills cause I made her an archer instead of using Whips and Rods and I found her damage with a bow on par with Cecil a lot longer. She can hold her own in battle with a bow then Cecil can with a !White.
I remember when I first played I was disappointed to lose my instant-kill sword. But the fact that he wasn't useless against undead anymore made up for it in the long run.
I like Paladin Cecil. It's nice having a backup healer, and it fits well into the story.
And if you don't like pretty boys, what the heck are you doing playing an FF? :D
Evil and darkness is always more appealing than good. That and the fact that Cecil in his Dark Knight form is a damn useful throughout the beginning of the game. In fact, until you went to Mt. Ordeals, he was pretty much your best character. Not that his usefullness decreased when he became a Paladin, (though he lost the ability to use the Death Sword:cry: which instant kills most creatures...)
I have no real issue and love both forms equally.
Seriously.Quote:

I like Paladin Cecil's character much better, but I don't think his abilities are useful. It basically just comes down to him attacking every round.
His White is useful mid-game...while everyone still has lower HP counts. You can use him to conserve Rosa's MP.
His Cover is a double-edged sword to me. Sometimes it is a lifesaver, such as when he covers Rosa who is about to die. Sometimes it is a curse, such as when you want to let someone die off but Cecil keeps covering him/her so you have to kill them off yourself.
Dark Knight Cecil's Dark attack was useful for getting through those battles with mutliple enemies who were pathetically weak and annoying.
paladin cecil was awesome. can use white magic automaticcaly takes hte bullet for the other team mate.
paladin cecil > dark knight cecil
Pesonally, I think that dark knights OWN!!!! Heck, I even have "dark sword" in my user name! Too bad he doesn't get any good equipment later on.
Btw, in the late game you could just use black magic for groups of weak enemies.
Hey... I don't believe someone can have a masculine personality if he likes using his girlfriend clothes...
If u see his sprite, u really can't imagine a masculine personality there...
That's why when i said masculine i was talking about his personality...
And no... i hate looks... i don't care about stupid things on real life...
From the first time i saw paladin cecil, i hated him, because i thought he looked kinda of gay, because of the big change in dark to light. But i soon grew to like him, but i can also understand why people dont like his appearance change
Wow. Here I thought people thinking that Squall and Cloud being the same character was as bad as it got. Apparently now Cecil and Cecil are two different characters.
Guess I was wrong.
Seriously, Cecil's Paladin look is really cool and original. :D
Growth and character development do not = different characters
If you can't understand that you should probably put down the controller and go read a book.
I dunno, Cecil seems to possess the exact same benevolent nature in his Dark Knight form as his Paladin. In fact, being a Paladin doesn't seem to make him any more religious and righteous, which I find odd.
The most important point that has not been considered here is:
Edge > Cecil.
:aimkiss:
It's the purple hair.
And Kain > Edge, therefore Kain > Cecil. :P
Dark Knight Cecil looks cooler.
His portrait matches his overworld/battle sprite.
Dark Wave is more useful than Cover or Cecil's crap white.
Were more equipment available, I would opt for Dark Knight Cecil.
Paladin Cecil is still pretty cool though. Hellabetter than some main characters.
Ive always really liked Paladin Cecil and Cecil overall due to his archetypal nice guy character...plus ive always found Cecil to be an interesting and mysterious character in FF as you get virtually no back story but yet he still seems intresting and worthy of his position as a protaganist!
I'll amit Dark wave rocks
But i still prefere paldin Cecil as he is more like the ff1 Knight (low level white magic) plus i prefer to use his Mp to use tellport, rather than waste Rosa's Mp. Plus i can use His to heal out of battle. rather than in battle.
Paladin Cecil could've been way more better and Dark Knight had flaws too. Paladin Cecil does not know hardly any white magic spells All I've had throughout the entire game are Cure1,Cure2,Exit,Sight and Esuna. There might've been maybe two others one, but he misses the ones he really needs like Life1, Life2, Cure3. It really sucks that he doesn't have them. He doesn't have Holy either and he calls himself a holy knight.
Dark Cecil was useless against undead and his dark attack cost him some of his HP which was also a flaw.
But overall I still prefer Paladin over Dark Knight.
I don't know why anyone would hate Paladin Cecil.
Letter A: He looks just as cool, if not, cooler.
Letter 2 xp: The transformation was necassary for the story to continue and was pretty fitting
Letter C: Protecting weaken members was a god-send when trying to do a no random encounters game. You could use armor on Cecil while everyone else was in critical (make sure he's in the backrow), the enemy would attack, Cecil would block, and receive 1-20 damage. It crushed Calabrina, and many other only attack bosses. Plus his Esuna is nice.
I don't like Paladin Cecil cuz i hate all characters that have a naturally-elemental attack. Therefore, Dark Knight Cecil also is useless to me.
Also, Paladin Cecil looks like a Grandma and has useless spells (except sight or whatever it is that opens the World Map)
I really don't know what you mean by that, arcanedude? Naturally-elemental attack?
