I spent way too much time today building my resume. It's like the most annoying thing I've ever done. I mean, I'm freaking great, but on my resume I actually have to have smart-sounding reasons why I'm great.
And now I'm printing 40-ish copies to gets me a job.
Anybody else have a resume?
At one point I did, but the cost of the paper to print it on was more then the ink to print it.
I have a resume. Nothing impressive yet, but it's still nice to have.
I suppose it may come in handy some day to have one. As of now, however, I don't actually have a formal one.
yeah, i keep a back-up for it so that it will be there for future updates. i hate putting it together.

I'm pretty sure they're hiring people off the street to be teachers. You shouldn't have too much trouble. It's mostly formality.
I have one, but it's almost two years old. When I apply to some jobs over the summer I'll update it again.
I made my résumé in Microsoft Word back in ’04. It’s kind of dull, because I needed help with it and nobody wanted to help me.

I've a resume, it needs updating and will probably be updated sometime soon-ish.

I updated mine in December because I was interviewing for a second job. I thought it was pretty spiffy, now I realize they probably didn't even look at it. >:

My resume is just a piece of paper with the word "AWESOME" written in very large letters.
I've got a CV but hasn't been updated since I was about 16. Also fo my carrer I have to produce a portfolio showing 45 hours of extra learning as well all the skills abd training I've attended. I haven't even started that one
I've got till May though before I need to look for a job. Plenty of time

Don't sell it short. A lot of people doing the hiring are women...with kids of their own so they know where you're coming from. What they don't like to see on resumes are blank spaces where you don't account for your time of not working for a paycheque.Quote:

I practiced writing a resume in Careers last year, but I have yet to write a real one.
You just have to word it in a way that sounds impressive, so instead of saying you've been a stay at home mum, you say you have extensive experience working in child care.Quote:

I have a resume, I don't bother listing all the jobs I have done as I was temping for about 2 years in many different offices I just put the ones I enjoyed and my current job on there. For my current job however I got a load of things to list under the duties section that makes some interviewers ask why I ain't applying for managerial positions.
I also tend to have to downplay my it skills somewhat for employers at times, the amount of times I have heard the reply "sorry Mr Causer-Smith you're just too over qualified for this position." I actually once lost my temper with an interviewer when he said that and demanded to know why if I was willing to accept the pay he offered and I could do the work I was over qualified, the guy just couldn't give me a satisfactory answer to that.
Been there, done that.... The problem is that the employer knows you will not stay for long because you can get a better job anytime.Quote:
