What is it?
There are tons of good ones, but...
I guess it would be Super Mario World.
Or maybe FF 4 or FF 6, or Crono Trigger.
I can't say any one.
I'd give up my first born child faster than I could come up with an answer for this question.
Three way tie between Earthbound, Chrono Trigger, and Super Metroid! Asking me to pick ONE is just impossible.
On the back of one of my booklets for a gameboy game, there was an advertisement for “Uniracers.” Gee, I sure spent a lot of time fantasizing about that game. It was these boyhood dreams that made Uniracers—to me, at least—the best SNES game ever.
I probably could download it or something, but that might ruin the illusion.
The only SNES games I played were: FFIV, V, VI (GBA and PS ports, not the originals) and Crono Trigger (PS version). And an Indiana Jones game and Mario All-Stars when I was wee. Of those, I'd say CT or FFVI are the best.
I NEARLY said Super Metroid, but Meat Puppet reminded me of Uniracer. Now THAT was the best SNES game.

Super Metroid for SURE!!!!!!!!!!! If you don't live with supermetroidmania, you can't understand supermetroidland (obviously, the world itself), and you can't be allowed to exist!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:mad2:
It would have to be Super Bomberman 5 or Yoshi's Island.
Street Fighter II.
Actually Super Street Fighter II Turbo. That was probably the best fighting game of all time.
Super Street Fighter II Turbo wasnt for the SNES though.
Street Fighter II Turbo was the best SNES game. Super Street Fighter II isnt as great as many make it out to be.
FFIV, FFVI, Super Mario RPG, and Earthbound. You expect me to pick just one?
Chrono Trigger, by a fair distance.
Way too many great games to name. Until recently I strongly believed the SNES to be the best system ever, but now the GBA is getting a lot of remakes/rereleases, and the DS has some very similar games to the SNES. DS has backwards compatability, making the DS best system ever.
I repeat, way too many great games to choose one
THE JACKEL
YOU LOT ARE LYING!
Uh dude, why would we lie about this? Did it not come out on the SNES in europe or something?
Super Street Fighter II Turbo was never released on the SNES anywhere, you lot must all be very confused or something.
Can someone give me some proof, If I am wrong ( which im not ).
EDIT - Jowy, thats Street Fighter II Turbo, not Super Street Fighter II Turbo.
There's a difference?
Yes.
Isn't it obvious?
(EDIT: For those of you who are pitifully underprivileged, my avatar and sig are from EarthBound.)
Wizardry V: Heart of the Maelstrom.
>>> Chrono Trigger..
lol
there was Super Street Fighter II, and Street Fighter II Turbo, but no Super Street Fighter II Turbo... I think that's what Dreddz is saying right?
THE JACKEL
SSFIIT was out on the SNES and the Megadrive. I still have my megadrive copy.
it's just the exact title he has a problem with... here
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Super_Street_Fighter_II
it states the platforms on the right
THE JACKEL
The last metroid is in captivity. The galaxy is at peace.
Oh right, I forgot:

Starmen4lyf.
EDIT: DAMNIT! I forgot Donkey Kong Country 2 was a SNES game. Hard to pick~
I only have 15 HP in that screenshot. :(
Wimp.
for me, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. i give it credit for giving me my first insight of a world filled with fantasy...
Note: I'm not counting games that wasn't released on the SNES in Europe, 'cause they're not really snes to me.
Nominees:
ActRaiser
Bomberman
Donkey Kong
Lemmings 2
Lost Vikings
Super Mario World
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles IV: In time
Young Merlin
Zelda 3
Winner:
Super Mario World!
A predictable, but worthy, choice. I've had tons of hours with all those games, though.
I was a platform whore in those days.
I liked the Donkey Kong games n_n-b
:(...
Well let's see: my favourite game of all time is FFVI, so do I have to spell it out?
The only problem I have is that everyone claims that Super Street Fighter II Turbo was on the SNES. Street Fighter II Turbo was. Super Street Fighter II was. Super Street Fighter II Turbo was released on the following platforms.
Arcade.
3DO.
PC.
Dreamcast.
Playstation.
Saturn.
Im assuming everyone was misunderstood, mixing up the game with Super Street Fighter II and Street Fighter II Turbo.
Im surprised so many people claimed to own a SNES copy. You lot need to read the titles of your games.
Final Fantasy VI, Chrono Trigger, Earthbound, and Star Ocean...there are alot of great games.
Alright, I see what you're saying Dreddz. I checked and I have Super Street Fighter II sans Turbo.
Final Fantasy IV
Final Fantasy VI
Chrono Trigger
Tales of Phantasia
Yoshi's Island
Super Metroid
Breath of Fire II
Super Mario World
Mario Kart
Battletoads: Battlemaniacs
Mega Man X, X2, X3
my favourite is EVO for simple gameplay, cool cartoony graphics, and most of all, nostalgia
but the BEST...i dunno it's tough
Megaman X
Megaman 7
Final Fantasy VI
Chrono Trigger
That's all I can think of.
Personal favourites in no particular order:
1. Final Fantasy 6
2. Chrono Trigger
3. Secret of Mana
4. Super Metroid
5. Super Mario World
6. Megaman X
7. Star Ocean
8. Super Mario RPG
9. Breath of Fire
10. Donkey Kong Country 2
...and that's the BEST ones.
I can't say for certain, but I can probably round it down to...
Kirby's Dream Land 3
Kirby Super Star
Super Mario All-Stars + Super Mario World (both were bundled together in one release)
Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island
Super Metroid
I didn't have an SNES, so I haven't played 99% of these games.
I have fond memories of one particular game that I played a lot of during high school, which sparked my love of fighting games.

Dragon Ball Z: Hyper Dimension. I still pop it in the ol' emulator from time to time.
I could play Super Mario World for hours upon hours.
I don't think I could pick out one SNES game as the best, but here's my favourites.
Chrono Trigger
LOZ : A Link To The Past
Unirally (Uniracers in North American)
Final Fantasy V
Super Street Fighter 2
Starwing (Star Fox in North America)
Super Mario World
Mario Kart
Oh and to chime in on the SF talk. SSFIIT was never released on the SNES. It was however released on the GBA as Super Street Fighter II Turbo X.
i never owned a SNES i owned the megadrive so i dont see what people are getting all excited about...though ive got to admit the SNES had a superior selection of RPG's most of which i now have on emulator! :D
Super Metroid. In all my 30 odd years of gaming since the 70's this game had held me in thrall more than any other. That and the original Zelda on the 8 bit Nes.
Ive always thought of the first Zelda as a bit "meh"
Earthbound
1. Chrono Trigger
2. Super Metroid
3. Secret of Mana
4. Final Fantasy VI
5. Super Mario World
6. Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
7. Megaman X3
Zombies Ate My Neighbors, anyone? Also, I liked the Lufia series. Final Fantasy VI comes in a distant fourth. =/
For me, it would have to be Secret of Mana, closely followed by Mario Kart and Zelda. I can't really list FF6 or CT or SD3, since the bastards at Square decided Europe shouldn't get them.
Snes was too wonderful. There's no way I can choose one.
My top 20 or so: (In no particular order, just as I think of them)
FFIII*
Chrono Trigger*
Secret of Mana*
Secret of Evermore(imo, underrated game)
Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past*
Super Mario World*
Super Metroid*
Breath of Fire II
Gradius 3
Killer Instinct(ok so it basically sucked on consoles, but it reminds me of the arcade perfection, and that's good enough)
The Lord of the Rings(for that which could have been)
Mortal Kombat 2
Ogre Battle
Super Mario Kart
Super Mario Rpg
Super Mario All-Stars(so this is cheating b/c they're actually nes games but oh well)
Ultima: The False Prophet
Illusion of Gaia
Lagoon(more about nostalgia than anything)
Super Castlevania IV
FFII
FF:Mystic Quest
*Games I think could be defined as the actual best game on the system, while the others are the games that I particularly loved.
Rock n' Roll Racing is the best racing game ever made.
Reading about all of these great games is making me want to pull my SNES out and play them all...
FFVI or III or whatever...metroid...andddddddd..... CT...i never got into earthbound....
Final Fantasy IV, Final Fantasy VI, Chrono Trigger, Secret of Mana, Gradius 3, Super Mario World, and Super Metroid are some of the best SNES games imo.
