Funny, when I saw this thread I thought it was going to be about Black Angel. Anyway, the most beautiful thing in recent times that I've seen is that guy Rico from the show I Love New York.
Some of the stage backgrounds in the Sonic Adventure / Heroes games. Whoever designs these things over at Sonic Team has an amazing ability to create gorgeously realistic but slightly fantastical background images. If anyone happens to know where I could find one (Speed Highway, Pumpkin Hill, Casino Park, or most any other one) in wallpaper size, I'd me much obliged.
EDIT: Come to think of it, backgrounds have always been one of the Sonic series' strong suits. Who could forget the gigantic Death Egg in Lava Reef or the crazy areas in which Sonic CD's special stages took place?
