This may be a hard question for some of you but what are the top five favorite albums you own or listen to.

Black Star - Black Star (Talib Kweli & Mos Def set the absolute standard for modern underground hip-hop. I don't think we'll ever see a more fluid duo again)
Miles Davis - "Kind of Blue" (The magnum opus of the man Jack Nicholson is said to have modeled his idea of "cool" after.)
James Brown - "20 All-Time Greatest Hits" (The next best thing since "Star Time" would be cheating. He's the greatest showman the world has ever seen. Modern music wouldn't be what it is today without the Godfather of Soul.)
That basically covers all my favorite genres of music except for ska (I don't think there's one super amazing ska album other than maybe The Specials' self-titled one)

I decided to limit myself, so I didn't use soundtracks, greatest hits, or compilation albums.
Not a single person I've ever talked to, but of course everyone will have a different take on things as subjective as music. Although it's a pretty strong statement that every Mars Volta fan I know (myself included) refuses to ever listen to Amputechture again, and is pretty much done giving any of their new stuff the time of day unless they really wow us in the future (I doubt it with John Theodore gone now though).Quote:

I think that's a little harsh. They went in a different direction for Amp, just like they did with Frances, and while a lot of fans think it pales in comparison to their first two, I still think it is an excellent album. Vicarious, Tetra, and DotB is worth the price of the album alone, in my opinion.Quote:
