IV
Graphics were inferior to the snes so much that I actually liked FF1 nes better.
Way too many random encounters.
Stupid plotline.
Nonsensical and unentertaining potline.
Annoying.
I hated all the characters except for Rydia.
If they remade the game as a completely different game that focused on Rydia, with the elimination of Cecil and Bboy and the rest of that tripe and remade something completely different, it'd be better and more interesting than FFIV.
I barely finished it because I'd rather play 1,2,3,5,6,7,8,9,X etc.
The good news is that it helped me work more on my math homework, since that is far better than suffering through FFIV.
I agree. I was boring, repetative, and pointless
I too agree, it bored me so much I had little motivation to play and cheated.
FF2. Ugh. C'est horrible!:twak:
It was boring, ans although the characters actually talked in this game, I actually think they had more personality in FF1. But that's just my opinion.
I disagree wholeheartedly with 4. possibly my favorite FF. you should play Advance if the graphics weren't up to par for you.
I must say, in all confidence, that it is easily the latest installment, Final Fantasy XII. When we first heard that there were no more random battles, we all cheered. But I didn't know the Gambit system was going to be this bad. Not only are the dungeons way too long, but the fact that you pre-progam your abilities leads to a bad combination.
the entire game is pushing the analogue stick while you watch repetitive and boring battle motions.
Or, you know, you could actually put some effort into controlling at least one character. I always kept Vaan with Gambits turned off so I had someone to control at all times. Honestly, the only people I ever see claim the battle system was boring did what you did and let the game play for them. If you were bored by that then you have no one to blame but yourself since the game gave you the option to not do that.
As for the most boring FF, it was hands down FFI. It doesn't hold up today at all. The story is crap, the battle system is utterly basic, and the battles themselves are too numerous and not the least bit entertaining to me.
FFX-2.

Final Fantasy II
I just couldn't get into it like I could the other ones
THE JACKEL
FFX...
I don't like watching soap operas with their predicatble plots and asinine characters so why in god's name should I play one? Wait I forgot... FFX doesn't like to let you play the game part of it, it's so in love with it's own plot it has to force you to watch a damn cutscene every 10 minutes so it can explain nothing of relevance to you...
Until FFX-2, FFX was the rpg that took me the longest to finish cause I could never find a real reason to do it other than to say "I've played and beaten it". It has a bare bones plot and the cast is the worst to ever be assembled in an RPG IMHO.
Final Fantasy X. I could not play that game for the longest time because everytime I did, I would fall asleep. So it was the literal snooze fest.
Cracker wants me to answer for him: Final Fantasy VIII.
Um, maybe because that would force me to spend even more time on a game who's battles I already found boring???
The truth is, that was what I was planning on doing before I got the game. I realized that the only practical way to do that would be to play on Active, as Wait would waste too much time, pausing the battle for every action. However, bringing up the menu on Active lags up the game, and I found that it would be a waste anyway to select a command when the character was going to do that anyway.
So, yes, the game gave me the option not to play it the way it was designed, but doing so wasn't a viable option either.
1 and 2. Their battle systems made my brain melt and pour out my ears.
VIII... It's just crap...
I'm not even going to bother arguing it except to say that most people I know (myself included) never have Gambits turned on for at least one character, leave it on wait, and have an extraordinarily fun time with this battle system. Just because you haven't given actually playing the game a solid go isn't the games fault.
How are the battles any more boring than the ATTACKATTACKATTACKATTACKATTACKATTACKHEALATTACK
ATTACKATTACKHEAL
rubbish that 90% of the previous FFs consisted of? And it's not possible to "play by pushing the analog stick" the whole way through unless you are overlevelled.
I'm probably wasting my time debating with someone who thinks FF4 is the pinnacle of the series though tbh.
But FFIV IS the pinnacle of the series. IT HAS CHEESE! And BushHags. LOVE THE BUSHHAGS.
FFX is, so far, the game that is taking me the longest to complete. It bores me to tears.
FFIII in Japanese on a NES emulator. Thank god for GameFAQs is all I can say.
Final Fantasy Seven. *Shudder*
Erm, 4? Meh, I got FF Anthology and couldn't get into 4 or 5. I voted 4 over 5 cos 5 had job systems at least. 2 was hard too actually, I got pretty far in 1 (before I got lost, forgot what I was doing and went crazy), but I just, did that way faster in 2 :P So I dunno... 2 or 4? Okay, I change my mind, 4 has cooler characters than 2, so I vote 2.
Edit: I dunno how you got through FF12 just using gambits, that sounds insane. Don't you have to control the main character anyway? Like, party leaders target wouldnt work otherwise... Bleh, I dont see the point in gambitizing everyone.
FF12 was pretty boring a lot of the time as well.
I think the first is the most boring. That sucker makes my eyes all droopy. Or am I just trying to spite Martyr? The world will never know.
FFI. I gave up after wasting my time fighting continuously just to buy basic spells. Too expensive.
i don't think i have one, but i'm generally less geared towards the "retro" half of the series.
VI, yes i did say it VI. The first town bores me to death that once i threw my copy out of the window.
Then to tie with it is probably VII after you get out of Midgar up to the end of disk 1 is boring, i got so bored of it i switched to VIII (excellent game may i add).
FF12 is a bigass game. i've had it since the second day it came out in europe and i started a playthrough, didn't to so well, started a new game and im at the henne mines with 30 hours of gameplay with the vangaurd rank.
30 hours! on my previous game i got to the stillshrine of miriam in 23 hours but still.
put as long as you keep the momentum while your playing and dont stay a in one place for too long a time, it doesn't get boring.
for first playthroughs i'd say FF2.
for second playthroughs i'd say FF1.
nothing personal, just an opinion because make no mistake, i like FF1 and 2.
I never played I, II, or III, but V was probably the most boring. At least IV had a good story. The job system in V was great, but the story killed it.
