Gnarly is clearly the better of the two words.
Of which two words exactly?Quote:

-Oh. Polls. Gnarly is better.
Polls up now.
I have a theory...
DUDE!
You totally forgot the most versatile of surf lingo.
I mean, duuude. =/
Duude is awesome, but those two words both have the similar meaning of "Awesome" as duude does not.
Duuude is the thing I said when I caught my parents having sex. It was a rather awkward moment, and is now forever en-capsuled in one word.
Where is 'radical'?
Okay, then I vote 'Tubular' because it truly is tubular
If I was a surfer, and also an American, I would say gnarly all the live long day.
TUBULAR!
wth
Gnarly for the pure humour of the spelling.
I'm a loser who hates surfer talk.
Gnarly!
You're missing COWABUNGA! :D
Not voting since cowabunga > both options
You're out of times, man. Nobody makes R=U threads these days. Now all the losers mope about talking about how X-2 Rikku was so much hotter than X Rikku.
(X was soo better)
Gnarly has been co-opted by the masses, making it distinctly not radical. Tubular is therefore the superior surfism.
Duuude. Bodacious.
Tubular > most non-heinous > radical > bodacious > gnarly.
I threw it in there anyway because Bill and Ted deserve representation.
Acceptable. Carry on.
I always just say "That is whack!" and I fit into any situation in any group at any time. But for this...I guess I'll say tubular. I swear I remember somebody saying tubular in the movie Ferngully, and I like that movie because it's about my race.
I associate "Tubular" with that im-smurfing-possible level from Super Mario World where you needed a blue yoshi or way too much finesse to beat.
Also while we're on the subject of 90's movies taking place in California, Encino Man was the best. 8-)
I nominate posts #20-26 for the "Best Miscellaneous Banter" category at the next Ciddies.
DUUUUUUDE that is totally GN-HARLY!
Gnarly dude it's all about the Gnarly though surfing off cornwall in the off season is pretty rad the waves are totally like tubular but seriously dude you don't wanna get caught in the rip...thats just not rad. Helicopter rides however are Gnarly.
I surf but I'm not american but I speak the lingo somewhat.
I love you Mr Iceyface.
