"Girlfriend" by Avril Lavigne

Just want to know what other people think about Avril Lavigne's carrier single for her third album The Best Damn Thing. Here's a link to the video from YouTube.

The music is fun and catchy. The pop rock element was still retained.

Avril's image in the video was kinda disturbing. Fishnet stockings, mini skirt, long blonde hair and now she dances! Not that I have a problem with it. In fact I quite admire her new image.

It's quite understandable why she's changed. She's married now to Deryck Whibley of Sum 41 after all. :love:

But main point: I want to know what you guys think. :D

I think she's an OK human being, but I don't much care for her music.

Nothing special. I wouldn't be bothered if someone randomly played it somewhere, but it's definitely nothing I would seek out on my own.

And well Supergyration, she was asking what you thought of the music, not the person :p.

I also don't find the way she dresses disturbing at all.

I thought (and hoped) she had given up on music to be a model. there are enough teen angst songs about already.

I didn't know she got married. Eh, in that case, shouldn't she mellow down or something?

I don't see what's so angsty about this song, blim.

The Best Damn Thing also has a Parental Advisory label.

The song makes me wanna dance around like a lunatic (as opposed to ... hmm, good point PG).

Anyway I like it, and so should you. How can you not??

Avril Lavigne isn't bad. I quite liked some of her music, especially off her second album (I borrow that one quite frequently from my sister :D ). Not to mention she's pretty hot. But this song is pretty crap though. Just another cheesy teeny bopper song.......I guess it was inevitable that she would eventually turn out like this.

The songs meh but woahhh, Avrils a babe.

Alot of people I know HATE Avril Lavigne because of this. I however, do not care/think it's alright.

i used to love her (not literally, may i add) and her music and lyrics and singing...but that was just like, bad
i think its ruined her....not entirely but it has had some affect....especially with me, i have lots of people who will agree with me here

The song isn't terrible, I prefer her openly being pop to pretending she's punk. No real need for swearing though in that kind of song...

I didn't like the video, Avril is basically a bitch all the way through it, and then wins at the end for a happy ending?

Avril has changed alot since she first came out with her first album...I really liked her first two CD's but then...she became more commercial. I really don't like her new song...It's so different from what she used to do....But oh well...:mad:

i love the song and the beat though i can't help but think the role she plays in the song is of a biatch.

Its always been hard to pick out which song is the worst by Avril Lavigne because most of them are pretty smurfing horrible. However, this one is indeed is by far the worst song she has ever released to date.

It's an alright song though. At least it's no where near as absurd in lyrics as that "Sk8er Boi" song.

Good God, is still BAoTW going? I remember founding that with Psy years ago, we made a website and everything. The internet is a crazy crazy place.

As for Avril, it's annoying, but oddly compelling, you know?

Man, the lyrics in that song just annoy me.

"She's like so whatever"

"I don't like your girlfriend, I think you need a new one"

"She's so stupid"

The video also annoys me, making the black haired girl out to be the good guy, hitting people with golf balls, outright stealing someone's boyfriend infront of them, stuff like that.

While it makes the red head out to be the bad guy when she's got some bitch assaulting her and crap.

If some guy was doing crap like that to me and trying to take my girlfriend I'd tell him where to go.

On the plus side Avril Lavigne is pretty fit, especially with the black hair.

I kinda like this song, particularly since it gave me a viable (I hope) AMV idea for use with a harem anime. Otherwise, it's just damn addictive.

The fact that her managers decided to go in an "EDGY SKATER PUNK ATTITUDE" direction is the only thing that seperates her from any manufactured pop princess.

Coincidentally that song managed to be even worse than the stuff she used to churn out. She seems to have reverted back into the mushy pop princess clay they first moulded her out of. If it wasn't for the heart/skull and crossbone motif (How smurfing hardcore is THAT?), I honestly wouldn't be able to tell her from any other of her teenybopper ilk.

I'm pretty indifferent to her and her music. I loved her second one, her first was alright but nothing special. THIS song however... is really catchy but... annoying catchy. If this song stays in my head any longer... I'll probably end up buying her cd first day it comes out. :rolleyes2

At first I was like-

"Oh, Avril's all grown up and out of that childish phase. Maybe her new album actually has good music on it!"

So I went to check it out. I was disappointed to the highest extent. The song and video are immature pieces of crap. How old is she, now?

In the video Avril plays both the bitch in black and the nerdy girlfriend. Or so I was told.

As soon as I heard that avril had a new album out, I was going to buy it :D :D :D I hadn't heard that song until now, and I'm so disappointed, Avril Lavigne is one of my favourite singers and I love both of her albums, I might wait until I hear what other songs are on that album now. There's usually one song on an album that's rubbish, I hope it's that one.
