Im still playing through the game (currently at sochen cave palace) and loving it! I was sitting and thinking how amazing the bestiary design is, i mean Square have really gone to work on this game. The enemies just look amazing and so original, the best enemies in the series i would say. Also the weapons looks brilliant (some outragous)
Anyone agree? Any enemy or weapon that sticks out to you?
If not, what game do you think has the best Bestairy design?

Not only you got a detailed description of the monster but you also got some extra info about places and other stuff. :love:
As for the weapons, they were fine.(not as good as FFX's ones)
Although i can't wait to lay my hands on that Zodiac Spear :hyper:
They're good. I hate that ugly Strongest Halberd, it looks terrible, but I wish i could get it, that's only when I start a new game.
I think the bestiary is great its better than a lot of games but still it could be better and the weapons are pretty good but they could have used more detail, what i like the best is how the water looks they put alot of time just to make the water that real when you see the start up movie. :)
I like Coeurls better in X and I hate the Chimeras looking like fat turkeys. Other than that the beast design on XII rules!

Some beasts are really cool, others just look ridiculous. Alligators, chimera's, coeurls and baknamies look plain stupid. (Ring)wyrms and those fuzzy little creatures like Fury look awesome though.
Shield wyrm makes me smile when i kick the crap out of him. He cries at the end...
I love the split duck beak alligators! They look funny but the design was very creative!!!
I love all the undead monsters. They are sooo creepy. And the Demon Wall, it is the best ever!!
I don't like the ring around the necks of dragons. They look really lame.
Could've used a few more species. 'lol wolf, lol BIG wolf, lol flying bird, lol snake, lol undead, lol wyrm'
They needed a mummy enemy. Games never have mummies anymore.
What about the ghouls ? They could pass as raggedy old mummies ;)

Yes I agree, I saw the weapon designs before the game came out and loved them. Maybe that's because I was obsessed with weaponry as a child, and still sort of am... But yeah, everything's done really well.

I for one love the ring around the Wyrms, and at least it is all detailed with meaning. The name's a big hint. They're funny as well, especially when you beat the crap out of them, and they start groaning sadly. Big fat easy ass whooping, right there!

I realy liked the assorted stone head monsters in the tombs. They just made me laugh for some reason.
The Ring Wyrms looked to me like something Fred Perry ( Gold Digger) would draw.
My favorites were the many undead in the Nabudise Deadlands. The wail they give when they die is creepy and had me fooled into thinking a party memebr had died a few times.

Well the little glowing rings around Yiazmat and Hell Wyrm are not cool, just plain weird and stupid. Thats when they took the ring thingy too far. Should have just kept it like the Shield Wyrm with a little more detail if thats the case.
Fafnir was awesome. Bringin back the old Behemoth design, even tho the new ones cool too, but what sticks out most for me in the bestiary is probably Diabolos, the Mark, the fiery wing imp. Flippin shweet!
The weapons are amazing though I'm quite at the beginning of the game but I think my WOW-reaction is just getting stronger. I hope there will be some really BIG swords. I mean something what Auron has. His wide katana would be great. I have only seen katana's that are narrow. Are there wide swords coming and in which direction on the licence board?
The monsters... there's some really nasty beasts- like the elements - grrr. I hate them cuz now I can't wander in peace through the lands cuz they attack in a nasty way. (I've played abut 40 hours.)
The bestiary is great though I haven't read the stuff about the monsters. But there's much information.
I don't like the look of them all. Can't remember any monster that looked really stupid but what looked really good was the happy bunny. Cutie!
Is there any negative results if you kill those friendly monsters?
What do you think about the chocobo form in 12? (or am I off-posting badly already). It runs in a funny way. The best chocobo is still in the IX.

I would have liked the enemies a lot more if they hadn't reused designs in almost every area. To me, slightly tweaking the abilities of a Malboro, changing its color to pink and calling it "Cassie" does not a new creature make.Quote:

I have nothing against the monsters in FFXII. When taken fully into consideration, even animals in our own world hold to certain types of general animal.Like, there are many variants of dog with a couple of mainly aesthetic differences. Whilst the game has its constraints of this, it is clear to see there are still many different types of enemy, and any differences between subspecies are explained.
The game is just way too big if you play it for the hunts and bestiary. You get a bit "overdosed" on it.
I noticed I like the game a lot more now that I haven't touched it for a month. But I definitely overdosed on it: 1,000 hours of gameplay.

There are less weapons than monsters. You just don't see them that often, and they do look a lot different from each other, even if they are of the same type.

Vinuskar was IMHO the most unique and creative of all of the enemies in FFXII. A dragon with peacock feathers and heads for hands? Too cool...Too bad he didn't have more screen time.:(

So much time was spend just thinking up the habits and biology of some of the monsters. I liked the little jokes and background info spread around in it. Didn't read all of it yet, but I'm sure some people did :P
Yeah i agree, final fantasy 12 does have great monster bestiaries and monster designs.
and the weapons are cool too, but i think it would've been cooler if they added throwing knives or boomerangs.
