In Curse of the Black Pearl, Jack took a piece of the gold and he was put under the curse like the other pirates, right? So why weren't Will and Elizabeth ever under the curse?

Because they never took anything out of the chest. It was only Jack who did.
Oh. Fair enough.
now thats dealt with....how the hell is Barabarossa still alive!?
i expect we'll get some kind of explanation...maybe the voodoo chick revived him
or maybe since he was the one who first went after the treasure, the curse is stronger or came back
Yeah, it was probably Tia Dalma.
yeah maybe she kept him or found him 'At worlds end' which im guessing is like a purgatory in the pirate world or something
i think that voodoo woman jsut has alot of wierd powers and was able to pull him from the dead.
Pirates never die.
or maybe he crawled over to the chest and took a piece of gold out, therefore cursing him again, but letting him live
THE JACKEL
maybe he never died. i doubt one shot can kill a pirate
If you're human, a bullet through the lungs kill you, unless you get professional medical attention. And I don't think there were many doctors in that cave.
He was too good of a character to keep dead.
I would assume that, since they're going to World's End to rescue Jack, who has been successfully eaten, that he came back from the same place. Dunno who would've gone to rescue him, though.
I guessing he is alive because the people who made the film needed a surprise ending. They don't really care whether or not it makes sense or not. "Tia Dalma did it!" is a cop out answer.
The final words in Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest:
Tia Dalma: "If you go and brave the weird and haunted shores at world's end, then you will need a captain who knows those waters."
Barbossa: "So, tell me, what's become of my ship?"
This implies to me that Barbossa had already been at the world's end, and someone (Tia Dalma?) had brought him back.
One thing I didn't get is how was the monkey able to be shot several times in Dead Man's Chest and not die?
That implies that the curse is still active (because the monkey is still a zombie dealie), and yet Jack and the rest of the Black Pearl pirates are human again. Hm?
If you stay until after the credits in the first Pirates movie, you'll be treated to a little 1-2 minute video of Jack the Monkey swimming up out of the water and stealing a coin out of the box. He has the curse and since he was the only one present at the time of the theft, he was the only one cursed by it.
may 25th or 23rd, not sure which. i've seen both.
But it clearly has something to do with this "World's End" place. Oh well, I can't wait for the third one.
He isn't under the curse that's for sure. he ate the apple and when cursed you can't eat.
"The food turns to ash on our tongues" Or something like that. No he was just resurrected no longer under the curse. Because when he was under he couldn't eat at all and didn't even try anymore.
I always assumed the food turns to ashes thing was a metaphor.
Regardless, it's no problem eating ash. :)
It wasn't they wont get full either way so ash or not blech.
