There is caramel. How do you pronounce caramel? There are two pronunciations:
Caramel (cah-rah-mel)
Carmel (Car-mel)
The second pronunciation is incorrect, but Huxley says it like this anyway. ;;
The second pronounciation is more fun to say. :monster:
I say Kar-mel
...but when reading I think kar-a-mel because that's how it's spelled o.o
The latter is more efficient thus the correct way to pronounce it.
Aww, you guys are so cute with your little arguments. I could just stuff you both in a jar and label it strawberry jam.
And as much as I hate to say it, Rye is right. Cah-rah-mel.
I say both.
Car. Mull.
Cah-ruh-mel
The first pronounciation is clearly the right one :P ..and that is also how I say it.
Car-ah-mel. THe only GOOD way.
Rye thought that we Brits said "Kar-mel" and Americans said "Car-ah-mel".
The silly sally. :D
OOC: Happy peanut swirls, over chocolate covered mountaintops and water falls of Caramel! Happy nugget in the meadow sings a song of satisfaction to the world...
The world.
When singing the above song I pronounce it the first way, all other times the second.
There's an extra a in there for a reason, folks.
Depends on my mood.
Caramel....silent h I guess. But definitely the first way in the poll :D also LOL @ Levian
the correct pronunciation would be more like care-uh-mel. not car-uh-mel. first syllable rhymes with air, not bar. and yes, there's an extra a in there for a reason: because there are THREE syllables in the word. thus car-mel is wrong.
Yeah, care-a-mel is how I really pronounce it. Basically, it's a difference between 2 or 3 syllables. 3 is correct!
It depends how much of the stuff I've got in my mouth. Sometimes cah-rah-mel is just inefficient.
I say care-a-mel, but I just like the second one better. xD
Taking extra effort to pronounce words is not the American way.
I've always pronounced it 'Care-ah-mell' myself.
Yep both, whatever fits my mood ^_^
So some people do actually call it 'Carmel'. And here I thought I had a hearing problem. Anyhow, I say it the regular way, 'Caramel'. 'Carmel' sounds like 'Camel'
I say it "Carmel", but I don't deny it being wrong.
Personally, I will not side with anyone that pronounces it "Noo Yoik".
Then I suppose I am in a catagory all my own. You silly dumbheads.
Ah, carmel. The rumored flavor of nucular aluminum.
Caramel, please. I can't believe you say it 'carmel'. That's a new low. What next? Untied Stats of Amrica?
My dictionary says they're both right. But then, my dictionary is by Webster. The one that purposely defines words such as geek, nerd, gay, etc. with offensive definitions just to piss us off. So, I don't believe anything Webster has to say. They're probably just saying they're both right to offend logical people who pronounce all the letters.
Afterall, I can't look up a word in Webster's Dictionary without being offended. I shall never buy another Webster's Dictionary again.
You are a big stupid doo doo head, imo. :kaoangry:
I converted him!
Jex ftw :3 <3
See! BoB knows it! Caramel is the only proper way to say it.
Which is why we have so much time to kick ass.
WITH GUNS AND STUFF.
Also, I pronounce the three syllable verison out of habit.
I probably pronounce it that way too, but I'm trying to prove a point.
I like that people always pronounce 'often' the wrong way.
I'm azn so I can pronounce it however I want.
I think I pronounce it oft tin, to be honest.
more like "of-tun" for me.
my accent is atrocious :( I was in a totally random town today, and straight away people recognised our accents and called us wooly backs (it's a nickname for people from my town, as our accents are so ugly basically)
Ah. Come to think of it, I say it "awffun" unless I'm trying to sound proper. :3
And, be honest Rye, how often are you "proper"?
When I shift into the higher voice I have, in which I sound like a mature, not at all depraved, young woman without a hint of her Queens "Noo Yoikah" accent who will be tutoring your child to reach a greater standard of success in his or her academic career, and attending your prestigious college to work to the best of my abilities to hone my skills in not only the vocal stylings of classical music, but in educating the young musicians of our country. :3
It's rare, but it does happen.
The word has 3 syllables, there's no way to get around that. Except by not saying the second syllable. :southernaccent:
Caramel. Accent on the first syllable, last syllable with a schwa. :)
caramel! its pronounced how it is spelled cah-rah-mel!!! i think im like the only american who pronounces it right. mayb the frenc n meh :spin: i like to just call it, in francais, le yummmmmmmmmmm jkjk lol <3<3<3 tee hee hee
