NO NEW ZOZO THREADS?! (Really about something else)

I'm so used to some random person bringing up Zozo which brings me out of my haitus. YOU HATH FAILED ME.

On other notes, if and when FFVI-DS comes out, do you think they'll add the environmental effects such as crazy blowing snow in Narshe or the rain in Zozo.

Do you think that the 3D-ness would give the game something that will put it on a podium or bring it down?

Talk about the potiential greatness or horidness that the remake could give it.

Also, do you think they'll use amano's chara designs or the sprite designs? That would honestly be too big of a difference to me.

There isn't even a single D in Final Fantasy. It all depends on how you place the D's I guess. D Finald fantasd III would bring it down However D Final DD Fantasy III sounds bustly hawt.

I found a store called Zozo inside an airport in Minneapolis last week.

I dont care as long as they bring back the Celes being beat up scene

maybe they'll add some blood splater or transparency effects on the phantom train

I'd have thought so, yes. I can't really imagine Zozo without the rain, to be honest! I'd certainly expect to see some mist or fog in the Phantom Forest and some smog in Vector wouldn't go amiss, I don't think.

From what I've seen in FFIII-DS and the screenshots I've seen of FFIV-DS, I don't think they'll be spectacular but they won't bring the game down either. I think they'll be decent enough and while not revolutionary, they'll be nice enough to get the job done.

The remake could potentially make FFVI horrible or even greater than it used to be.

I think I'd have to play FFIV-DS before I could really say. I haven't played the NES version of FFIII but was suitably impressed enough by the DS version of it. I think that when I get a chance to play IV and compare it to both the GBA and SNES versions of the game, then I'll be able to make somesort of verdict on how VI'll turn out. The GBA versions of IV, V and VI (even if they were mostly just ports) were great and I hope the DS versions will be too!

I'd guess the sprite designs because it's what people are familiar with, but that's just a stab in the dark.

I'd be surprised if effects like the rain in Zozo weren't maintained in 3D. As for whether a 3D remake would complement the original game in general, I think the DS version of FFIV has proven that, as long as the production values are there, there's much to gain and practically nothing to lose in the conversion.

And as for the characters, again, after the example provided by FFIV, I would expect them to showcase Amano's original designs.

Yeah, the sprites were faithful enough in the first place that there wouldn't be a huge difference whether or not they'd go for full Amano love. It's not like, say, FFV, where the sprites had almost nothing to do with the character designs.

Yes. :P I was like "Ok, that one looks vaguely male so it's probably Bartz."

I want them to use Amano's designs but mebbe more along the lines of the CG movies from anthology and (UK) the ps version of VI...only better.

Terra's hair HAS TO stay green D:

The CG movies in VI were gorgeous. I'd like to see that style stay for any vidos in VI, but if it's a DS game it might look better just to keep the characters chibi'd like in IV DS.

There's always the opening FMV.

I don't like Celes' yellow outfit either, but they'll probably stick with Amano's original designs. I'm just hoping the gameplay doesn't change too much.

No, I also prefer her Amano design. Sprite Celes just looks too much like a pastiche of Rosa for my liking.

I really hope they don't make FFVI on the DS, even though I own one and have the 2 FF's released in America for it. I feel if V and VI were ever to be remade, they should go all out in representing the game to the fullest rather than exploiting the novelty of a handheld remake. If a game is actually worth being done again, then it should be worthy of the (relatively) best technology to do it.

Also, I seriously doubt you'll see a remake considering the 2 DS remakes required the original development team. Considering Yoshinori Kitase has constantly been tied up on new games for more than a decade now, it's incredibly unlikely you'll see him going to remake a game. And I think it's common knowledge that he'll re-make VII long before he goes to re-do VI.

And not to rain on everyone's Amano-parade, but Tetsuya Nomura, in addition to being Art Director for that game, also lent a hand in the character designs of FFVI.

They managed to remake III and IV without Sakaguchi. I don't see why VI would need Kitase.

Nomura's contributions to VI were minimal. You can tell by the fact that none of the characters are made entirely of belts and necklaces.

Nomura's earlier work is actually pretty cool, especially his monster designs in FFV and character designs in Parasite Eve. He just kind of lost the plot around FFVIII and his mind by FFX.

That's because Sakaguchi's creative role on the earlier games has been largely exaggerated in order to solidify the brand name of Final Fantasy and Square. he doesn't even appear in the opening credits of FFI. It's been stated in multiple interviews by several SE developers that Hiromichi Tanaka was the director for FF's I, III, and IV, and Akitoshi Kawazu (Exec Producer on XII and upcoming Last Remnant) directed II.

here is Tanaka talking about himself and Ishii Kouichi creating a world of swords and magic which Final Fantasy would be based on.

here is another great interview with Asano (again) and Takashi Tokita discussing how all the major developers of the original IV were brought back.

So thus far, the incorporation of the original design staff has been imperative to the DS Remakes.

You should do your homework. As I said before, in addition to character designs, Tetsuya Nomura was one of the Art Directors for FFVI. If you played the previous games, the Artwork selection for the tiles on the field map had remained largely unchanged until Final Fantasy V (when Kitase and Nomura joined the staff) and many of the sprites in FFV could be traced back the 1980's original.

Final Fantasy VI's art direction was a huge departure from the series, as nearly all of the old sprites and tiles pre-FFV were thrown out and an entire new selection brought in. Okay, when we talk about nomura we're talking about chara designs.

Still, he had a semi-big hand in shadow and setzers design, but after what he did to Setzer in kingdom hearts it makes me wonder if he even cares about the old roots, and I'm sorry but I wouldn't want someone who goes for new trends on a character that takes away ALL NOSTALGIA possible to work on a game that is being remade, not revamped.

I have reason to believe that the game could easily be remade without nomura's imput, because he was -not- the only graphic designer. He wasn't the head graphics director.

of course, but considering how much of a change it is, i'm sure they would need at least 1 of them back on the project. I know Hideo Minaba recently worked on XII, other than him and Nomura, I'm not sure how active the others are at Square-Enix, if at all.
