If they seemed like a decent person and the pet was quite old then probably
If it was a stranger, then no way!
I can't think of a situation where that would happen. If a car was about to hit someone and the only way to save them was by throwing my dog at them to knock them out of the way? ;[
Anyway, I probably wouldn't sacrifice a pet for a stranger.

Well... Maybe not. But I certainly would sacrifice any animal, even my great dog Snowball, for the life of a human in almost any scenario.

of course i would. You can love your pet, but a pet is still a pet. A person has a family, maybe even a child. You could ruin several lives by saving your own happiness for maybe a decade. I think anyone who would rather ruin the lives of many people and killing someone just to save their pet is just sick. And death by inaction is murder.

While it seems somewhat cruel, I wouldn't choose to sacrifice any animals. Especially when it's between a long-living family cat (who recently passed away) and a stranger I barely know. Plus, my mom would kill me for it because he is her most favorited cat.
Reading this thread reminds me of snakes on a plane (the one where the man threw the girl's pet dog to the python just so he could live, only to be constricted to death)
