Are there any weird rules that you live by that you made up yourself and no one really enforces? (Eg: Never drinking anything except water after brushing your teeth, never letting certain foods touch when you're eating, resisting the urge to step on really green grass, always eating fish sticks in one bite, etc)
Personally, I avoid stepping on untouched snow for some reason. That's all I can think of right now.

I absolutely will not eat the same flavor/color twice in a row when eating candy.
I will always save my favorite of something for last.
I'll also check my car doors 2 or 3 times after locking them to make sure they're locked.
I know, I'm weird.
Toilet paper/paper towels go over not under. Yes I'm anal retentive like that.
Also when it snows or rains, I CAN'T let the bottoms of my pants get wet. I either have to tuck them in to my boots or roll them up. (I wear really baggy pants)
That's all I can think of for now but I'm very anal retentive and have lots of rules that only I follow. :(
When I was younger my peers and I came up with this game where the rule was that you couldn't step on certain color tiles. If we did, we died. We were morbid children.
I do that with my apartment door as well as my stove. I always make sure the burners and oven is off when I leave (we have natural gas stove).Quote:

Justin, is what you do a compulsion or just lack of self confidence? The latter can easily be avoided by just saying to yourself 'you know, this is ridiculous, I can't continue like this. Even if my car isn't locked, I'm just going to pretend it is and just go on with life. It will not be the end of the world. No one wants my car when there are better ones out there also unlocked probably. Or how would they even know?'
If it's a compulsion, I suggest psychiatric help xD But in second grade I had the confidence problem, even though I KNEW the teacher had told me I could go to the bathroom, I still doubled back to ask and make sure because I just could not be positive. This happened about as often as you described and was similarly irritating.
Then I started to assert myself and didn't need to anymore.
If I'm at home while the football is on my kitty has to watch it with me for luck, even if he doesn't want to. Which he usually doesn't... So i have to hold him or whatevers.
I'm more concerned for what I leave in the car than the car itself. If I'm not 100% sure it's locked, I'll feel anxious until the school day is over.Quote:

I save my games at least 2-3 times before I finally cut of the system. It's not so bad if I'm going to continue unless a boss or something is coming up.
Speaking of saving habits, if there's a game where you can save where ever you want, I have to save in an Inn-type facility. It bugs my friends when I'm playing Pokemon and I want put it down until I save in the Pokecenter.

At work, I have to have my windows in the correct order on the taskbar or I get annoyed. So I open, in order...

This rule applies to everyone I know. It really irritates me when people break this rule.
The Sequel Rule:
You cannot buy a sequel to a movie or a video game without owning the original. If you see the sequel at a price you can't pass up with no possibility of seeing a deal this good again, you can buy it, but only if you buy the original before you get home.
The exception is sequels that do not continue the same storyline such as most Final Fantasy games and Halloween III.
I have loads of these little OCD things. For instance, the volume on my stereo or television always has to be an even number. I also don't like skipping tracks when I listen to albums. I don't really have a problem with listening to invidivual songs from time to time, but when I'm listening to an album in order I'd rather put up with a track I don't like than skip it. I used to be a lot worse about these sorts of weird rules, but I still have quite a few, and porbably don't even notice myself doing some of them anymore.

i have minor OCD so I really avoid stepping on cracks, if it is unavoidable i try to get my food in a neat foot sized set of cracks.
I also tap doors sometimes before I open them :confused:

-I check to see if I have everything like 7 times.
-I straighten my hair like 5 times a day cause it has to be pin-straight.
-When I go to the bathroom, I have to check the locks heaps of times to make sure no-one comes in.
-layers on my photoshop drawings have to be checked over and over to see if I have chosen the right setting for that particular color/line.
-Everything has to be put in the RIGHT place cause I get all pissy about it.
-I check ALL the files on my computer twice a day to see if my friends have downloaded porn/sex on there cause if one of my family members accidently went on there and found porn I'd me in ALOT of trouble.
-If there is porn I delete it, then go to the recycling bin and empty it from there. I then re-start my computer and look in the recycling bin to see if its still there.
-Everything has to be unpluged before I go to bed.
-I check the plugs to see if they are lose every hour.
-I ALWAYS make my bed of a morning cause I hate it messy.
-My room has to be spotless and I mean if there is ONE thing out of place I cry cause my bedroom is my like house lol. It even has a mini fridge and kitchen and bathroom lol.
-If its cold I'll wear a skirt and a shirt. If its hot, I'll wear sweat pants and a jumper.
NO I am NOT OCD! lol;)
I have to have my electric fan on when I sleep. I absolutely cannot sleep in silence.
....I suddenly feel better about myself. :P

I don't really have any, I might have a preference but I usually forget it or just do it anyway. I don't really think I have any, if I'm honest. Uh, how about, I refuse to go out the house in no makeup? is that a rule? I'd say it was more a preference; I could go out but I don't want to.
I'm OCD with various things, like making sure my car is locked, making the edges of things line up perfectly, etc.
I try to never cry in front of people. I cry often, and I'm usually REALLY good at fooling people. I think the first time I was caught in ages was last Saturday, at work. D:
I don't think this is necessarily a rule, but I'm freaked out by foods with weird textures, and I won't eat them.
I had the fan thing. Summer did it to me. Cools you off all summer. But you get used to the sound. Try and turn it off in fall/winter and all you hear is the ringing in your ears. Eventually I kept a fan on year-round... didn't care about the cold breeze. I needed a hum :(
When eating sandwiches, eat the crust first.

*Lines on everything have to line up exactly or I flip.
*Books MUST be organized by author first, then title, then number it is in the series (if valid).
*Pens HAVE to have lids on them or I throw them out.
*Recycle bin on pc must ALWAYS be empty.
*No files can be out on my desktop. They have to be in a folder of some sort.
*I have folders inside of folders inside of folders on my computer so that everything is organized and I know where to look for it rather than searching all over for it.
*Applications must be aligned on the left side by type, no spaces between them, no icons off to the right side of the screen.
*Necklaces are organized by if they have a stone or a pearl in them or if they're some other type.
*Gold earrings with gold backs, silver earrings with silver backs ONLY.
*When carrying my books to class, they have to be in order by size. Biggest on bottom, smallest on top.
*Have to start out sleeping on my right side.
*When switching positions on my bed while still awake (lol, kinky), I have to go in this order: left side, right side, back, stomach. Repeat.
*clothes are organized in this fashion:
a)jeans first, in order by how dark of a shade they are...faded are considered lighter than non-faded.
b)t-shirts that have something to do with my school after jeans, in order of year I recieved them, how much I like them over the others, and if it's a band shirt or not.
c)fitted shirts next, in order of preference and color.
d)dressy tops next, in order of preference and color.
e)Hoodies, jersey, misc. t-shirts, and long-sleeved turtlenecks next, in order of preference.
*undies are in order by flirtiness/sexiness factor...Least on bottom, most on top. Bras are the same way.
*When tearing off the frilly paper thingies off of perforated papers, it has to be done right or I hate to look at my paper.
*Thinnest blankets on bottom, thicker on top. Then, smaller blankets on top of the thicker ones, in order by size...biggest on bottom, smallest on top.
*If letter or number is written funky, I have to make it look right. I can't stand it if my handwriting is messy, if I'm taking my time, that is.

all papers have to be in allign. staples have to be a perfect 45 degree angle and centered between both sides of the paper. my work nametag has to be parallel to ground (rotc did this to me :()). all folders go in front pocket of bookbag, textbooks go in back pocket. all my files practically have their own folder. etc.
Did y'all ever sent the Gurge 2, well i couldn't go to sleep with out all the light's on Because I was afraid that I was going to die in my sleep so I took the DVD and I broke it and I got in trouble cause it was for my BF:(
I just remembered some of mine.
I usually try to put on my heater at night to make sure my room is warm before I go to bed, I always make sure internet windows are to the right of the toolbar and if they aren't I close them and reopen them, I almost always never let anything hang over a table/counter edge, and I always sleep with my door closed.
