Its better than anything Ico can come up with. Sure, Shadow of the Colossus was amazing, but its not God of War amazing. I just dont get it...what's not to like? The combat is just so damn good. Ehhhh, I mean, can you honestly say you dont enjoy the gameplay?
I'm not a big fan of GoW. It's just not my kind of action game. Very impressive for a hand-held system, though! They seem to be really pushing the system. But I think in that aspect, it's still disappointing, simply because this game doesn't seem to take advantage of the PSP's portability, and looks to essentially be a smaller GoW, which is a system of making portable games I've never been too fond of, unless looking for a game with a retro feel to it.
I probably won't get it.

I won't get it, merely for the fact I don't own a PSP.
Anyone here who doesn't appreciate God Of War lacks the testosterone necessary to make them a sane human being.
Anyways, I'm looking forward to this quite a bit. There's few really good action games on the PSP that don't involve the letters G T and A (if you want to talk overrated games, GTA is like the pinnacle of such things).

Hey now, the DS has seen some more than just Minigames. But the DS shouldn't really be part of some kind of comparison here, I was just saying that the game basically looks to be a GoW game with bad (but portable) hardware to work with, and with that, there should have been some features that really make it definable as a hand-held game, rather than an early PS2 title.
^Yeah, the DS does have some awesome, 'proper' games.
I see where you're coming from, but personally, I think the best type of portable gaming is console gaming in your hands. Most of this interactive stuff doesn't interest me much.

I played both Onimusha and Devil May Cry when I was younger, and I think they just do what they do so much better than God of War does, yet everybody and their nan raves about how great it is. I think the graphics are pretty mediocre too (I'm talking PS2 version here) for all the attention they get. I find the game overrated, but the gameplay is enjoyable.Quote:

God of War is a fun game... once.
It's extremely repetitive, and on the harder difficulties, just monotonous. I've watched my roommate, who is in love with God of War, play the hardest difficulties after beating the lower difficulties like a billion times. The fact that you can sit there fighting a boss, avoiding everything for like an hour, then get hit like 2 times and die... that's hardly my idea of fun.
As I said. It's a fun game, and really cool at times. But playing through the story more than once, I could never do. As for a PSP version of it. They're losing a HUGE audience by doing that. PSP hasn't sold nearly as much as PS2 has. And I can guarantee someone like my roommate, who has been waiting for a new God of War, is not going to buy a PSP to play it, as much as he loves the games.

I don't have a PSP, so I don't know if I'll get to play Chains of Olympus. There are rumors it'll be ported to the PS2, which there is precedence for. If that happens, I'll definitely play it.
No don't get me wrong, I love action games. And it is fun. I enjoyed playing through both games, but I couldn't play through them again. It's repetitive. It's like, Zelda. I'll be honest with you. I love the games, I really enjoy the first play through... but I CAN'T play through it again. I know everything, I don't have to think about anything, and nothing is a challenge. I could never replay a Fire Emblem game either. They're great, but so frustrating on the harder difficulties. It's often why I start on the hardest difficulty.Quote:

Ive only played GoW once. It was awesome. I havent played GoWII yet.
I have no time and no money. So maybe the love will die during the summer holidays when I play it for 4 jazillion hours in a row.
Funny. I played all those games too. But the only one I enjoyed was GoW. I'm not a big fan of the controls Capcom chooses in their 3D games :[ But ah well. I tried getting into GoW2. Didn't happen. So I doubt I'd get a PSP for this game :} But I'm happy to know if I ever do get interested again. There's some games in the series out there waiting for meQuote:

I own and played God of War I. While it was a good game, I couldn't help but feel it was overrated when I played it.
The graphics weren't amazing and it was way too repetitive.

Anyway, Jaffe wasnt involved in making Chains of Olympus and he's left now anyway. They producer of the PSP title is a legend called Ru Weerasuriya. I liked what he said about video game violence:

God of War is awesome. I love the gameplay and I love the environments and exploration as well as the puzzles. The gore is alright, some things are pretty cool -- it is just so epic in every aspect.
By the way, I doubt this God of War is coming to PS2. It was a project developed for the PSP and they are working on God of War 3 for the PS3.
I'll probably pick up the GoW titles for the PS2 if I ever find them cheap enough... I've played a demo, and watched others playing further stages at parties, so the full game might be worth a go.
Why is everyone quick to assume that this game will come out on PS2? Not all high profile PSP games go to the PS2. Actually, hardly any of them do.
And whats with the hate towards David Jaffe. I think hes great. He doesnt talk like some jackass PR spokesman who cant give a straight answer to anything. Plus hes the mind behind some great franchises so he is some what of a professional. I saw him one time straight up trash Uwe Boll to his face when he was asked if he wanted Uwe Boll to make a God of War movie. Now thats awesome.

Considering the limitations of the system compared to the PS2, it's a massive technological achievement. It's probably the best-looking and smoothest PSP game I've ever played. Plus it's always fun to indulge in a bit of mindless Kratos-style violence.

Just a shame that after Crisis Core the system wont have much going on.
