Balthier definitely gets my vote, he's my favorite all-time FF character.
The Imperial Guards sound like Monty Python characters... They get my vote, as I'm mot that far into the game, yet. :p
Larsa was my absolute favorite, and Penelo was my favorite main character :jess:

what??? balthier??? i hate him. i never use him. all my chars are level 99 and balthier lvl59. i think penelo is the best 2nd fran and 3rd vaan (i hate ashe too)

He is voiced by Bender in the English version. $%^&ing BENDER! Ol' Gilgamesh usually steals the show as it is, but John DiMaggio as Gilgamesh alone makes the entire game worth buying.
My favorite character? Hmm...It'd have to be Fran, and her disgustingly awesome accent. Also, she's hawt. And has the best battle animations. Fran is the best!
But Balthier comes in second because he's so fun and playful. And hawt. Really hawt.
Then comes Ashe, because she's one of the only characters i've seen with such depth and conviction for her cause, and to display such human emotion and characteristics. But I like the other two better.
Penelo's pretty cool too, but then everyone else is just kinda...meh.
Ashe, since Larsa was not an option :D

Balthier and the Lady Ashe would be my two favorites, followed by Basch and Vossler.
I think you can guess who I voted for.
As far as story goes I would have picked Ashe, but as fighting wise I picked Basch. He is the stronger tougher guy.

I can't really rate them all. I love this cast. Lady Ashe, Balthier, Fran, and Basch are my favorites of the party. Vayne, Cid, Al-Cid, and Gabranth are my favorites of the non-playable characters. I also love Clan Centurio and its quirky members.
Obsidian is also correct, Gilgamesh is smurfing awesome in XII.

This game in my opinion is packed with great characters, but if I'm only to pick one it would have to be Basch, followed by Balthier, Ashe and Vaan (not in any particular order).
You forgot Reddas. So I'll go for Balthier.

NPCs, I like all of them.
I can't really say i have a favourite character.They were all mediocre to me,but if i had to choose one i'd choose Fran.
