So what are your favourites? I want more to read. Currently I read Perry Bible Fellowship, XKCD, 8-Bit Theater, Buttersafe, and VeeGeeCats. I want MOAR
XKCD, TPS, LFG, LICD, and Chugworth Academy.
I read Penny Arcade, User Friendly, Planet Karen, Sinfest, and XKCD.
Penny Arcade. I knew I was forgetting something in my first post. xP
I read Penny Arcade, xkcd, Questionable Content, Fanboys, Order of the Stick, PvP, Lucid TV, Perry Bible Fellowship, and Gone with the Blastwave.
Oh, let's see...
8-Bit Theatre
Wapsi Square
Scary-Go-Round
Saturday Morning Breakfast Cereal
Count Your Sheep
PvP
Earthsong
Penny and Aggie
Gunnerkrigg Court
Girly
Girl Genius
Chainmail Bikini
Order of the Stick
No Need for Bushido
The Adventures of Dr. McNinja
Ctrl+Alt+Del
The noob
Lackadaisy
Elf Only Inn and
No Pink Ponies when they actually update
I also read lots of others which aren't as good, or have the potential to be good but never update/aren't quite up there yet. Also I read some others out of pure nostalgia. (Fanboys, Marry Me, Elizabeth, Exiern, I Was Kidnapped by Lesbian Pirates from Outer Space, The Dreamland Chronicles, xkcd, VG Cats, Cool Cat Studio.)
lol, i r webcomics whoar. der.
Seriously, I love these things.
edits: I used to read Penny Arcade, but I really went off it for no reason whatsoever. And the Holy Bibble, which is very good if you actually know the Bible properly - unfortunately I didn't, so I got kind of lost once they were through with genesis. What the hey, I might start reading that again. Oh and I went with the whole of Inverloch, but I really didn't like what I saw of Phoenix Requiem so I sort of got bored and gave up on it. And I read ADVENTURERS! but Antihero for Hire consistently didn't improve enough to make it worth reading.
double edit: I read Bob and George but got bored with the commentary. And RPG World was kickass D:
Order of the Stick
CTRL + ALT + DEL
Megatokyo
Bob and George
Rpg World (though it kind of died but is a good read none the less)
8-Bit Theater
I think that about covers the ones I read/like.
The Last Days of Foxhound and Dresden Kodak are the only webcomics I follow regularly, and they're both brilliant in their own ways. Foxhound is ending soon - a matter months, anyway - which is really quite sad, but I just recently got into Dresden Kodak, so that should keep me going as long as it gets updated more regularly...
There's also Dinosaur Comics, which I browse now and then and is always good for a thoughtful laugh.
Cyanide & Happiness, and xkcd (it's not spelt XKCD :mad2:)
I recognize absolutely none of these titles.. xD
i recognize all these but cant think of any to add
the wotch
questionable content
star crossed destiny
then theres different ones of of drunkduck
Between Bob and George, and the Holocaust, I'd have to go with the Holocaust.
The only webcomic I regularly follow is the immortal Married to the Sea.
Has anyone tried this site? I just discovered it this evening and it seems to be very convenient, especially for comics that don't normally have RSS feeds.
V----G---Cats FTW :D
CAD didn't even need that kind of stimulus to start sucking.
I'd read xkcd several times in the past, but I fell in love a little bit, today. I read all 401.
I'm a huge fan of a comic called "Wulffmorgenthaler". It comes with one of the biggest news papers in Denmark every day. They've been making it for about 4 years and still running. Here's a link to their website. Just click previous, go to the archive or the Top 10 to see more than the one on the front page. It's originally in Danish, but here it's been translated into English.
Yay month and a half isn't too old for lounge, right?
~Undertow~
I have been reading this girl's lj for I dunno, six years now? I just now decided to look at her webcomic she's been working on forever.
(and I was blown away!)
The fact nobody here has mentioned Minus yet is a tragedy.
Strips like these are some of the most creative and beautiful I've seen since Calvin & Hobbes. Not to mention the fact that rezo actually paints each strip.
Other than those, I'll second Lackadaisy and Gunnerkrigg Court and also suggest Scary-Go-Round and Octupus Pie heavily.
- A softer world
- Cyanide & Happiness which is not at all as funny as it once was
- Married to the Sea
- Questionable Content
- The Perry Bible Fellowship
- xkcd
Also, Dan Piraro (Bizarro comics) has a nice collection of comics, although I don't believe he updates it very often, if at all.
I need a Married to the Sea RSS feed.
PBF and xkdc are very, very excellent. I follow xkdc regularly, and check back to PBF for updates once in awhile . . . even though there are barely any.
Does Sexy Losers still even exist
pictures for sad children is really, really strange and has a sense of humor that is so in line with my own that I check back every day. It takes a certain kind of person to enjoy it, though, I think. Also, the comics are not self contained episodes - reading a newer one will likely leave you confused unless you have read the earlier ones.
Other gooduns include:
Captain Suppository - sadly no longer updated
Pokey the Penguin
Indexed - not really a comic, per se, but it is smart and funny.
Let's see, I read quite a few.
Awkward Zombie: Some fun Smash Bros. themed comics, not too frequently updated but hey, who cares. Good for a laugh.
Three Panel Soul: The new project of the Mac Hall guys. A bit odd at times, but can be entertaining.
CAD: This one gets a lot of flack, but while it's certainly not my favorite it's not BAD. It gives me some degree of entertainment four times a week, so it's doing it's job.
Darths and Droids: Inspired by DM of the Rings, which I picked up on as it neared completion. I loved DM of the Rings, and this series, while approaching it a bit differently as far as the characterization, is quite well done.
Dominic Deegan: I used to like this one a lot more, but the recent storylines have been fairly meh. Still, it updates every day, so it's nice to keep up on. Art's fairly basic, but he does his own art and writing, which is something I can respect.
GPF: I'm not quite sure what I can say about this one, it's really weird with a lot of complicated plotlines and generally sci-fi mixed with modern mixed with fantasy. I read it over the course of a few nights and just kept reading it since at the time it was also an every day of the week update. Much slower now, but I keep reading it.
Order of the Stick/Erfworld: Order of the Stick is hands-down my absolute favorite webcomic out there right now. Side-splitting geek humor, a really interesting plot, and a great sense of comedic timing all make this a fantastic comic. Erfworld moves a bit slower, but is generally pretty interesting, I like the world they constructed for it.
Goblins - Life Through Their Eyes: Got off to a slower start, but with the advent of more plot it's gotten pretty good. I seem to be a sucker for all the good D&D comics, so there ya go.
Aoi House: My sister linked me to this one, and while it's fairly meh and it's right-to-left pretension annoys the ever-loving crap out of me, it can be reasonably decent and the premise is entertaining.
Gunnerkrigg Court: My girlfriend just linked me to this a few days ago, I devoured the archives. It's a good series, I like the use of lore and the setting is intriguing.
Least I Could Do (not linking for some less-than-kosher content): Generally pretty amusing, and updates every day but Sunday which is another point in it's favor. I'm really liking the current arc.
Looking for Group: By the guy who does Least I Could Do, it's a fun fantasy comic that's a lot more serious than it's beginnings would have made one suspect.
Megatoyko: It's pretty, and I don't mind the pretty shoujou-tastic plot. If only it moved faster.
Misfile: Updates every weekday which is nice, and does a good job portraying the identity crisis of having a gender change like that.
Penny Arcade: I was never really big on this one (though I did read through all the archives) until more recently, reading them one at a time gives you a chance to really appreciate the quality of some of the strips. While it can be hit-or-miss with me, I also really appreciate what these guys are to the gaming industry, so it's one I make a point of keeping up with.
And PAX is awesome.
Questionable Content: Great character-driven webcomic with frequent updates and excellent art. There's just a dash of fantasy to allow for more outrageous arcs, but in general is a slice-of-life story that I rather enjoy. I do tend to get lost in the Indy Music Babble though.
The Adventures of Dr. McNinja: SO. AWESOME.
VGcats: No link due to 'Kishi's prejudice. They've been more miss than hit lately and the update schedule's really bad, but when they have a hit, it tends to be pretty funny.
xkcd: Sometimes he goes spinning off into emo, and sometimes he's got way more science than I can comprehend, but a lot of the time the comic is just genuinely funny.
The VGCats guy has been working on a webcomic version of Pokemon Red/Blue recently. It's actually pretty good.
Linky
I keep up with Penny Arcade, Questionable Content, Real Life Comics, White Ninja Comics, The Perry Bible Fellowship, xkcd, and Least I Could Do.
On a less frequent basis, I read the following: Ctrl+Alt+Del, The Creatures in My Head, The Adventures of Doctor McNinja, Dinosaur Comics, Dresden Codak, and Bear & Kitten.
On an even less frequent (read: almost never) basis, the following are visited: PvP-Online, Looking For Group, Sinfest, Lucid TV, Three Panel Soul, AppleGeeks, and Bunny.
If I wasn't whoring out my Brawl tournament, my sig would still be an image from a Married to the Sea.
The only ones I read with a lot of regularity are:
Penny-Arcade
Married to the Sea
Toothpaste for Dinner
Natalie Dee
Super Mega
I also from time to time read back catalogues of Perry Bible Fellowship and xkcd, but for some reason don't have them bookmarked. Love 'em, though.
I really need to read Order of the Stick. For some reason I just haven't started on it beyond one night when one of the guys at school literally sat me down at his computer and made me read them until we started our weekly D&D session.
I just came across this, 'Castle Vidcons'.
Some of the jokes are pretty hardcore 'current events in videogameland' spoofs and some go over even my head, but the ones I do get are pretty damn funny. They're all 'drawn' on parchment and use olde english language, yet all the 'characters' are representative of today's video game consoles (hence, 'Vidcons'). It's pretty damn funny...if you get it.
Sample
Some of them are animated, so if it looks like nothing is happening, just wait for about 5 seconds.
The penultimate installment of The Last Days of Foxhound was posted this week. As a long-time follower of the series, it was pretty poignant - even moreso than I expected. One more issue to go... it's going to be sad to see the end of that series.
Since I made this thread I ended up subscribing to a buttload of comics, so let me go through my RSS reader here and pick my favourites....
8-Bit Theater - Still my home page, still my favourite. :P
Married to the Sea - Hit or miss, but the hits are gold.
Natalie Dee - Great for a daily dose of random retardation.
xkcd - Nerd humour at it's finest.
Wondermark - A lot like Married to the Sea, really.
Questionable Contet - I think I need to go back and start from the beginning, though. There's a lot of backstory there.
Pictures for Sad Children - Quirky.
Kawaii Not - Weirdly adorably disturbing. :P
Garfield Minus Garfied - About a bajillion times more awesome than Garfield has ever been.
Cyanide and Happiness - What more can be said?
Eegra - You kind of have to be in the right mood for this one. Good if you appreciate weirdness. :P
Dinoballs - I'm not linking to it because it's not at all uncommon for one of the characters to have his penis out, but it's another cute comic that's pretty depraved.
Cat and Girl - Sometimes I get the feeling that the author is too philosophical for her own good, but I still love it.
Buttersafe - Wants to be Cyanide and Happiness, but it's worth reading.
A Softer World - Definitely one of the best out there. The alt text for each comic is almost like having double the punchlines. It's great.
Super Effective - Where the VeeGeeCats guy's talent went to.
The Non-Adventures of Wonderella - Ok, more people need to read this comic. The writing is superb. Wonderella is a great character.
I also subscribe to a ton of regular newspaper comic strips online (Like Zits, Doonesbury, Calvin and Hobbes, Rubes, and so on.) According to my RSS reader, I subscribe to 72 webcomics. Whoah.
