I leveled up the my Fire and Lightning materia(not sure if I had Ice) to level two before heading into the Shinra tower one time.
I once divised a Levelling up plan in my head, where if you level up 5 levels before each little bit ie
5 levels before going into the reactor
5 levels after the train (by going into the train graveyard)
5 Levels before going into the 2nd reactor
5 Before fighting Air Buster
5 Before getting to Aries Hous
5 Before getting to the Wall Market
5 Before getting back to Sector 7
5 on the way up the Pillar
5 on the way to the Shinra HQ
5 on floor 60
5 on the floor with the item coupons
5 on the floor with the Midgar parts
5 after being in the cells
and that takes you to outside midgar at Level 70
you could easilly make level 99 before the end of disc 1 and its not as time consuming as other methods. except i get bored too easilly and go up like 2 levels and can't be arsed lol
getting loads of tissues after hearing a far fetched rumour tht if u took them to the city of the ancients you could cry and use them to bring back aeris.
Acquiring Omnislash and Great Gospel on disc 1 was pretty pointless, though Omnislash came in handy. I also wasted many an hour trying to revive the dear departed, back before I had internet access and assumed that there had to be some secret trick that'd make it possible.
Saved my game.
tripped over the power cable after defeating that blasted demon wall, thus having to do it all over again!
Trying to get a second gold chocobo by breeding! It's not possible I tells ya!
I once leveled up a lot in the slums where you only have Cloud and Aerith, and I ended up getting Climhazzard for Cloud before finally moving on.
I also guess acquiring Aerith's final limit break can be called pointless, but I still did it and have no regrets. It's an awesome limit break.
Noticed a picture in the official guide has Cloud using Meteorain on Rufus in the Shin-Ra building so I did a game where Cloud got the Limit break before that fight. Makes every boss fight pointless...
I also try to get Beta from the Midgard Zolom the first time I go through that area in Disc 1. I must say, Enemy Skill Materia makes the Magic Materia worthless...
I posted in this thread..
redoing the junon bit over and over trying to sneak past Yuffie, sneaky madam got me everytime. is it true that if u get past her you loose her and u can find her again up the snowy moutain place
Kept save files of Cloud dressed up as a girl and as a Shinra soldier in Junon, just because I thought it might be interesting to play with a character with a different appearance. Madness.
Got 6 Gold Chocos, got em all to rank S, then got rid of 5 of em and stocked myself with 5 weak chocos, and got them all to rank S(After about 30 weeks, took alot of luck)
ruining the first playthrough experience thanks to gamefaqs.com. that was cruel thing to do.
My brother leveled up Cloud's luck to 255 once. That was pointless on a stick.
Tried to go up against Emerald, what a waste of 20 seconds.
Well, I was playing FF back in the netherlands 5 months ago, and I never turned it off before I went to the US..
So everything I did in the last 5 months was done while playing FF7

I once went for a complete inventory game including 99 Iron Bangles. Had to do a lot of fighting in the Train Graveyard to afford that many.
Collect 99x Boomerangs.. only to find it useless and throwing them all once i got my throw materia =X
I once ran around Yuffies house for around 8 minutes because i refused to push one of the levers, knowing full well that whatever lever i pushed would bring a cage down on my party and have Yuffie tell that awful STEEL! joke. damn you..you ninja...weirdo grr
I played FFVII what a waste
In the Shinra building, right before you climb up the vent in the bathroom to eavesdrop on the company's conversation, you can flush the toilet you climb onto and I did that before I climbed.
My brother said to me, "I bet you are the only person to play this game and actually flush that toilet."
lol, I flush the toilet every time
Well the dumbest thing ive ever done was miss out on the All materia lol.
I was going to get everyones limit at the mithril cave, but I stopped at having both of the limits of level 2 for red, tifa, and cloud. I got red's howling moon and cloud's meteorain by the materia keeper. Those really own him...
To start off, I'm leveling all my characters to level 99 before getting the keystone. Just so I can have a full party at level 99. Second I have 8 master magics 16 master commands, and 8 master summons on disk three. third off I morphed monsters in the underwater plane until I got all characters with 255 luck and speed. Then I did it some more getting str vit mind spirit and what ever else you can get to 255 for three characters. The last one is what I hate most. I killed emerald and ruby so now I can't pwn them anymore.
i just spent a minute or so trying to open what i thought was a chest only to find it was just a beam of light thru a square window.
(Kalm, i think the house with that sicko who locked his dog in the cupboard, upstairs....shame)
I got bored while fighting Jenova Death (because i ran out of MP and had cloud equipped with the fire ring) so I put my controller on the fire place and lifted the leg of the fire and put it on my circle button while i went to get a drink. Battles can get a bit boing if you run out of MP and your opponent heals you at every turn lol
Buying the house in Costa Del Sol......
I learned all of aeris limit breaks before I went to getthe key stone. Any body that does that has done something pointless. I mean what are you gonna use them for?
ran around in the desert outside the gold saucer prison for like an hour lol
Speaking of brothers, my one got Meteorain before the first fight with Reno. Then I accidently saved over his game and he was angry at me for ages.
I'm currently stuck in a game where I vowed to collect every item, weapon, and ability in the game... What has me stumped? The smurfing Parasol for Aerith of all things. :rolleyes2
Happened to me too. I'm just not good at shooters to begin with, and there's no way to simply purchase GP on Disc 1.
Ugh the Speed Square is horrible. That's one thing I've never even bothered to try more than once. It's stupid how some of the best weapons can only be won there.
Can't you keep buying GP from the man who sometimes appears by the Gold Saucer's entrance? Or does he only appear during disc 2?
He never appears during Disc 1. :P
And you can only buy up to 100GP from him at one time. So to buy 1000GP from him you would have to make him appear on screen ten times.
I Have had a highscore on speed in gs of 4500 and got the weapon then saved over the game
Put Yuffie in my party.
The Parasol's Aeriths' strongest weapon, and also a gag item. Worth it for the accomplishment and momentary lulz, if nothing else.
You can make the mni-game easier by taking down that giant flying saucer, but there's a trick to it: spam the fire button as fast as possible. That'll keep your shots near full power, while also hitting often. It's the only way I can beat that thing, anyway.
Collecting the tin soldiers.
Played using my feet for about an hour while I ate XD
I just got meteorain for cloud before I reached floor 60 of the shin-ra building in disc one. Bonkers
Naming Yuffie Jailbait. It just called out to me, I dunno.
I stayed up all night with a friend after we got to the northen cave.
We leveled up by fighting magic pots and the red orb fellas, mastered a hell of a lot of materia.
However, we missed the save crystal item (don't ask, I have no idea) and we couldn't find the exit.
There was no way we were gonna continue to the final area, we hadn't beaten Ruby.
So we turned the console off.
The next day....we found the exit. :/
Oh. I also got excited once and bought a weapon for a certain someone on disc two, then I was like...oh.
