Eyes on Death

Today, I had a sudden vision. I foresaw my own death. It was nothing flashy, or dull. It goes like this:

I'm 40, maybe 50 years old. It's morning and I'm reading the paper while eating my breakfast, a cup of coffee and a bagel or something of the sort. I'm wearing a white shirt and a tie and I have a little beard; I'm going to work soon at an office, working for the man but still somewhat successful. My two kids (both boys, maybe around 8 and 10) have just been sent off to school.

My wife is doing the dishes from the boys' breakfast. She is quite pretty, if a bit ordinary-looking, and she has deep lines in her face—not of age so much as ten years of cooking and cleaning for our family. I suspect nothing as she sneaks up to me from behind. With all the pent up anger from our long normal-on-the-outside relationship, she jams a fork into the side of my neck. My head falls forward as the blood soaks my shirt and newspaper. She wipes of her hands, a contemptuous look on her face, grabs her purse and leaves.

So how do you guys die?

With a stake through my heart.

Or someone will shoot a gun in the wrong direction at a wedding and I'll be in the wrong place at the wrong time. I'm waiting for that one.

Or one of my brothers' practical jokes will go horribly wrong. I nearly ended up in hospital when they decided to put party poppers in the fridge and I reeled backwards in shock and hit my head on the shelf behind.

I want to be eaten by a hippo. Or maybe I'm standing on a cliff and a T-Rex farts and I fall off. I don't want a boring death.

I've already planned your death for you, Psy. It's pretty cool. Guaranteed news stuff.

I want to die quickly & be happy. But I'd like it to be AWESOME too. I wouldn't mind death by explosion, as long as it's not my fault and loads of others are killed just to get at me, or death by speedy shooting. I wouldn't mind falling either. It'd hurt like hell, but falling's always fun in a weird way. Hey Psy, maybe we could be farted off a cliff together~!

I could fart on you, if you'd like.

Psy will not be farted off a cliff. T-Rexes are involved, however.

Probably from not paying attention to how I'm driving.

Medication abuse?

Lets just say it involves a hairclip and a bit of imagination.

I get assassinated at my Presidential Inauguration which takes place on the 3rd of January, 2037.

I expect to die of a broken heart sometime not long after my husband. Or cancer. Like all the women on my mom's side of the family have some kind of cancer. Cervical, breast, ovarian, blood...

Yeah, it'll probably be cancer in my 70's.

Probably saving the Earth from aliens. I imagine I'll take many innocent bystanders with me.

Complete instantaneous de-atomisation. I wish to spend my life developing a device capable of performing this.

In fantasy: A gunman will come to our school and I will save everyone's life by sacrificing my own...

Knowing me, it'll involve alcohol, fire and sharp objects, ir not sharp objects on fire.

I'm not sure I'll ever choose to die, but if I do, it'll be by something pretty spectacular, like the death of the universe or something.

I'll probably go out from disease or something, but hopefully I find a quicker and less painful while still cool way to die.

I'm going to be murdered i think. Probably hit and run, or kidnapping....

Or i'll die in childbirth. I have really weak hips and it would probably drain too much of me. At least the baby will be alive though.

Not too long after assassinating Bunny, I will be shot dead by a Jewish gentleman.
