An FF7 forum-based game!

Hooray for Eyes on Plays FF7!

I have been looking over the battle mechanics for FF7, and me and Del have been talking about my plans for this game. He said it was ok or me to put it here, so please dont move it.

Basic Information: This is a forum-based game, and it is based in the FF7 world. I will give you 5 starting classes along with the perks and the starting stats for each class in my next post. You will all start at level 7, with a single slot weapon, 10 potions(fully heals you after battle or heals 50 hp in a battle), and a Bronze Bangle(a monk starts with better armor). Everyone will have 10 free turns each day to spend in an area. Extra turns will cost Gil, and buying items will also of course cost gil. Please note that THIS IS NOT AN RP! If you want to post in the thread post how you feel about the game and post your turns. I would rather have you post your turns in the thread rather than pm them to me, but either one is fine. If you dont come for a couple days, your turns will be saved up to 20.

Magic Information: Yes, I have a materia system set up, but it is based on percentages. Every turn, you will have a chance to use a certain magic. If you have a 25% fire materia equiped, every turn you have a 25% chance to use fire. For healing magic, you tell me a certain HP that you want to be healed after, and if your health falls below that in battle you will have a chance to be healed in a battle round. This is also how potions work. Healing magic will have a 100% chance of working

Battle information: When you choose a turn, I will use a certain "random encounter" rate that I have made. The amount of enemies you face is based on the areas rate, which I will give to you. Note that boss encounters are possible and that you will never fight more than 1 monster in a boss encounter, unless those monsters are included in the fight. monsters will give more xp in this game than in the real game(you might gain 2-3 levels a day), to compensate for the turn limit.

Other information: Again, you will have 5 classes with thier own starting stats, and each will have thier own perks. These classes will have a little bit of an effect on your stat growth as well. After I post the stats, you can post in this thread about what class you want, and you can go ahead and put a name if you feel like it, but it wont really do anything. For now, yyou will only have 1 party member. After a couple days, I will allow you to choose another party member. A couple days after that, you can choose another member, and more later(reserves). And yes, magic defense will work in this game :D. If you have any more questions feel free to PM them to me.

NEW RULE: Everyone will start thier character with 10 turns, and every day you will gain 5 turns, not 10. It costs 25*lvl Gil to buy extra turns, and only 10 turns may be used each day.

All start at level 7. All have the same growth. All have a 1 slot weapon. All start with 1500 Gil(red mage has 2250). All start with 10 potions. All start with a Bronze Bangle(Monk has a Titan Bangle). MATERIA DOES NOT GROW! If I make it so materia can grow, then it would be far too much work for me, and this is already well over enough. If anyone cares, I will be keeping a word document with everyone's stats and items and such. Again, any questions can be PMed to me.

Ok cool you are a monk, and no, this isnt really an RP. If you want to play it as an RP I don't really care, but you can definitely play without RPing.

Buy what you want, you have 3 open materia slots, and I also need to know what HP you want to heal after in and after battle(like if you want to be healed after a battle if your health falls below 50%, and maybe 35% in battle)

I'm buying the Restore and fire 25%. Equip them into my titan bangle and fight in the low level area. I want to also buy 2 potions. I heal when my HP gets low (about one or two hits before I die). So bring on the fury of my first battle.

Ok, my thief shall have my user name(Might as well). I'll buy a 25% Ice, an Iron Bangle, and 5 potions. I'm going to start in the lower area aswell, and I will heal at 150 HP out of and in battle. Put the Steal in the Iron Bangle for now, and start my battles.

Ok then... I don't know how many turns each of you want to spend, so I will do 3 turns fo each of you, just in case you want to try the harder area too...

I have a couple questions as well, can u post all the possible random encounters and then if we see a battle we would not like to use our offensive materia in, we can tell you so we don't waste MP? And also, after you level are you healed to full?

Im sorry, but I've changed it from 10 to 5 turns, but I halved the gil cost per turn that I originally had planned... so really it isn't horrible...

And also, there is supposed to be a weakness to using magic, and thats what it is. And when you level you arent healed to ful, but after every day you are.

I'm in same time zone as LoM. I didn't post yesterday, so I'm gonna load all my turns into the Sector 5 Slums. Seems I'm the only one being adventurous now that Sora died once. That was against a boss though, and no bosses where I'm at, so I should be fine. Also, when is the next store going to come out? The stuff I want from the last one is expensive :mad2:

All of the basic characters(Look back to find them, no need to repost...)
Cost: 1000 Gil and 150/day

Prodigy
Stats: Look at the basic character stats and add 25 HP, 10 MP, and 1 for each stat.
Cost: either 1000 and 300/day or 2000 and 150/day

Slow Learner
Stats: Double the opposite of the Prodigy, gains stats slightly faster.
Cost: either 1000 and 200/day or 2000 and 100/day

Mirror
Stats: None
Perk: Reflects an enemies attacks that hit him. The damage is equal to half of the normal damage. This character has less of a chance to be attacked, however, and every day it will get less and less...(starts at taking a hit 30% of the time, then -2.5%/day)
Cost: 3000 and 550/day

Master
Stats: everything 255, HP=9999, MP=999, level=99, weapon=255att, Armor=255 Def, acessory=+3million to every stat and damage
Cost: ∞ and twice as much every day:p

Next shop may go up tomorrow... Maybe also next area if I feel like it.

Oh and the master also has break damage limit so he can do 87044477170 damage. Go ahead, just save up:p

do I have to buy a second party member? cuz if I don't then, do what I wanted to do before (Fight my 5 turns in sector 1 reactor) I don't really want to pay for a second party member right now. I'm saving up for my own stuff.

I'll purchase a Slow Learner for 2000 and 100/day. Also, do we equip party members, or do they equip themselves?

The party members will have thier ownweapons and as they level they will get better equips, without you paying. Now please tell me the class you want your slow learner to be and I will do your turns and Bahamuts turns later(like in an hour or so if my mom doesnt steal the computer)

And I have me and my Mom on a shared computer here... I did come online in between the last turns and this post here, but it was to look something up for my research paper, Ok? Just because this is a large commitment doesn't mean its the only thing in my life, understand?

And Sora, you only get 5 turns per day held to a maximum of 10...

And the thing I use to check magic if you are equipped with more than 1 magic materia is this...

The highest % counts for if you use magic or not... If you do use magic, then I will use the percents for the magic to determine which magic will be used. Buying out all of the materia isn't all that useful because I haven't created a weakness list yet... I don't think I will create enemy weaknesses either... Really I wouldn't recommend buying all of the materia, it isn't all that useful. It's just a waste of Gil...

again I'm fighting in area 1 just until I get the money to buy everything in shop 1. When I move on to area 2 I should be leveled up enough to survive and start collecting for stuff in the new shops.

Sora, money's easier to come by in the Slums, and there's no boss to decimate you, plus the monsters are still easy. I'm going to buy me the 13 def 2 slot armor, and the 20 attack weapon. Equip them, sell my old ones, and put my turns into the Sewers, which I might now be able to hold my own in.

Sora, I would highly recommend that you do not buy everything in the shops. There is absolutely no reason to do it... If you do want to, however, then I will stop bugging you about it.

So, I'll buy Slow Learner (Theif) 1000/200, buy the 25 attack weapon (how many slots does it have), and I'll also buy the 30% lightning materia.

This may get complicated LoM.

Unequip the Fire materia of me (Bahamut)
Equip the 30% Lightning materia on me (Bahamut)
Equip the 25 attack weapon on me (Bahamut)
Then, equip my old weapon on SL.

That's the first time I've played that kinda of game. Some should somehow make it so the turns are automatically done, like make a game where the computer does the work. But then again, it's kinda hard.

I actually used play an old game based around runescape, and so I tried to make it like that game, where there are different areas with different enemies and such. Maybe if I learn about coding sometime I could do it...
