What do you think is the psychology behind people being d-bags over the internet? Problems at school, self-esteem, etc?
I personally think it deals with being overly angry and self-esteem.

I swear to god if you're talking about me.....
anybody can be what they wanna be on the internets
I'm nicer on the internet than I am in real life. I guess I'm weird. =0
its cause theres barely any repercussions
swear and mouth off at someone in the street and youl get a smack in the face
unless your dumb enough to do that then give out your adress your pretty safe online
i think...
Me too. Everyone calls me sweetheart irl, on the internet I'm called asshole.
One possible side effect of anonymity is disinhibition/deindividuation.
I'm pretty nice online. At least I'm nicer than I am in real life.
Because on the internet you aren't a ronery neckbeard who lives alone with his anime and Tool discography, you are a ALPHA MALE PSEUDO-INTELLECTUAL WHO REJECTS AUTHORITY, HATES YOUR FAVOURITE BAND, AND GETS ALL DA GURLS!
It all goes back to Large Marge from Pee-wee's Big Adventure. She scarred everyone forever and turned us all into mean bastards.
BECAUSE I AM ANGRY AND IF I PUNCH YOU WITH MY E-FIST NO ONE WILL DO ANYTHING TO ME IRL
the only difference between me online and me irl is online I'm more confident and less afraid to talk to people.
:D
I thought the Internet was a D-bag contest.
Because if they were d-bags in reality there would be less socially inept nerds.
We need them!
The same reason people watch television shows that only exist to bash opinions they disagree with. They want to see none of another person's opinion make it to the surface, and watch it be torn to shreds as it falls into hell. >:(
What are you talking about neotifa you're very nice online :D
I'll go with the anonymous thing
Because when some dickhole pulls off some bull:bou::bou::bou::bou: in Halo they deserve personal insult.
I would quote bunny.
The anonymity means there are less social conventions restricting you. I like to think it's a good indication of who people really are to see how they act on the internet.
Yoa a dick.
I'm a douchebag pretty much everywhere, but just moreso on the internet.
LizyCar,
People are morons online for numerous reasons;
* Easier to get away with it, you can do a lot online with little or no aftershocks. Repercussions are usually minimal, you can sign off & walk off.
* There is little chance they will get smacked for it, so their balls grow & the coward becomes the soldier.
* Their offline life is filled with spite & hate as they get bullied or ignored in life. People like that take it out on here because of reason 1.
* Lastly, online, offline, in youth, middleage & old age, some peole are just complete & utter bastards that have defied the odds & reached puberty without someone launching them into orbit with a swift boot & therefore they think this behavior is acceptable.
...meh there's probably more. I'll post you my shoulder so you can cry on it. Just send it back when you're done (hopefully before I go away to Indiana).
I think some people do it just because of the hilarious reactions. I'm sure there are other reasons, but if I were ever a "D-Bag", that'd be my reason.
That's why everyone's a douchebag on DIC. For humor.
OH MY GOD IT'S A DOUCHE GRENADE
People are douches on the internet because being a douche on the internet is great fun for them. They're doing it for the lulz!!!!1!
This is a really simple question.
People are douchebags on the internet because they can't get a punch in the face no matter what they do.
