Girl types and what to do with them

This thread really exists to generate discussion rather than .. I don't know, existing as a platform for me to brag. I DON'T KNOW SO I'LL JUST DO IT.

I'm used to girls who aren't anything like my online persona/casual persona. So I'll be attracted to the hottest girls at the club even though I know she knows that I know that we know we have nothing in common except heterosexuality (usually that's all it takes), and I'll go for girls who appear to be a healthy mix of smart and dumb.

This new one is something different. She's azn so I'll compare her to the last azn gf which hasn't happened in 5 years...

The last azn gf liked white boys, white movies, hollywood romance bs, cartoons, video games, and foreign (chinese films). She was notoriously stupid, selfish, ignorant, annoying, bitchy, and asian.

By ask her, I mean suggest stuff like going to see a certain movie you think she might like or going to eat somewhere you think she'll like, and then you talk to her and find out her interests and then you can think of stuff to do. The only way you can get an idea of her WANTS AND DESIRES is to spend time with her. Start out just by doing something generic that most people will enjoy.

When we say ASK her we don't mean to blatantly ask her what she likes to do. We mean ask or talk about certain subjects, see if you get a rise of interest out of things. Then you should be able to judge what she likes and dislikes. So then you could judge on what would be ok to do or not.

So instead of, "What do you like to do?"

Say something LIKE, "It's so nice out today, it makes me think of parks."

Then she may say, "I like/love parks." or "I hate parks" or something along those lines of the park subject.

Then you know if you could ask her to take a walk with you to/in a park or to try to stay away from parks.

It's really not that hard :/

Communication != dancing around the subject.

"What do you like to do?" is a perfectly ordinary and simple question and covers a lot more ground than beating around the bush by dropping hints that make you look mentally handicapped.

Any good relationship, not just with a boyfriend or girlfriend, any type of ties to someone else at all, shouldn't have dancing around all subjects. Asking what someone likes isn't rude, it's more proper then not asking someone what they want/like to do. Plus it's painfully obvious when someone is fishing for answers, this is like, middle school way of communication.

Anime convention sounds like a good plan. Also, considering she generally enjoys video games AND anime, it may be a safe bet that she likes video games that generally come from Japan, like JRPGs. Of course, if you figured out she likes Video Games, you probably figured out what kinds she like, too, unless she felt like you didn't want to talk about that or something. :p

Edit: About the whole "dancing around subject" thing, I'd have to disagree with Bunny and Boko. "What do you like to do?" is a perfect introductory question after the first phase of introduction has ended ("Hey, I'm Peeg." "Hey, I'm AZN."), but since they already know one another, simply initiating a conversation by saying "Hey, what do you like to do?" will come off pretty awkward, considering they know one another already. I don't really know many people that would pay that much mind, though, and you should feel free to ask anyway. But if I were in that situation, I'd initiate by stating something about myself in relation to the situation at hand, and then infer based on the other person's reaction.

It isn't just a girl thing, really. If I were to walk up to one of my friends and say "Hey, what do you like to do?", they'd probably be lost for words trying to define themselves appropriately, and people who have a blunt definition of themselves are wrong. :3

Males and females are taught by society to have separate speech patterns and values. Think about the games you played as kids and it will back my argument.

Males use speech to reach a destination. There must be a point, a goal, a victor.

Females on the other hand use speech as a way of establishing symmetry. There is no real destination, just let it run it's course and let everyone be happy.

If you can't respect both styles, then you will either fail in the public setting for missing the male style, or have horrible relationships if you lack the female.

So to but it kinda bluntly, Boko and Bunny are oblivious to the female style. Female styled speech is not a way to a means, it is the destination.

At the same time, they do have a point that while the male should respect the female style, the converse also holds true. Balance is key. [/EoEO]

I've got to disagree with the direct approach. Saying something like 'Hey, what do you want to do today?' can translate to 'Hey, Im too unorganised, unconfident and not fun enough to be able to think of something to do on my own, you'll have to do it for me' Minus points all round.

Its better than 'What do you want to do' cause it makes it seem like it was more your idea to go the park rather than hers. But doing this too much could set the mood of 'I want sex from you and i'm gonna be your little bi*** and do everything you like/want to get it.'


Truthfully, I'd say to do two things. When your gonna do something, say something something like 'Hey, lets go do something fun' 'What are we doing?' 'Its a surprise ;)' Then do something you'll both like.
Second thing is too look at what you both like. At the end of the day, you can get sex from any girl, so if your in it just for that, then you may aswell find a different girl that you can have fun doing things with.

But...in answer to your question, best stick with the genric things for now, such as if she mentions a movie that both of you like, get it and watch it, or hang out with mates, go bowling etc.

Seriously, Peeg, if you're judging her intelligence as smart and you're saying that you're more grown up than her just because you're older than she is, then I have something to say to you: If she's smart, she won't think anything bad of you for asking such a question - because there's nothing bad about it, and only a stupid person would think badly of a person for such a stupid readson. Also, you still have growing up to do yourself if you think that asking such a simple question is going to cause such dramatic problems.

If she likes you, she'll like that you are showing an interest in her.
If she doesn't like you, she won't like that you are showing an interest in her.

You don't even have to do these things. If you're still that silly about it all then I would suggest you simply get her onto Facebook and then check out her interests - which, oddly enough, you seem to know a fair bit about already so I don't really know what the big deal is. You've listed a bunch of things she likes. She'll do things she likes, right?

EDIT: Also, if she says "Whatever you want to do" then do whatever you want to do. Sometimes it's a good thing to show who you are, and if she doesn't like it then it wasn't going to work out anyway, was it? If she likes it, hooray, you're doing great.
