Who is the main comic relief?

An argument through the ages, more open ended than the ever debated role of main character.

So, who IS the main comic relief in Final Fantasy VI?

I say Gau.

I'd say Relm but I think every character's made me laugh at least once.

Most of them have their moments, but there's only one that stands out for me.

Any character can be funny at any given time. Gau is pretty much played entirely for laughs except for that one sequence, though.

Kefka was the funniest character but not one you'd really consider comic relief. I found Cyan pretty amusing at times, though I'd agree with you about Gau. Especially considering the most prominent funny moment in my mind was the whole Mr. Thou stuff.

Agreed. Kefka was funny, but he wasn't comic relief. That was obviously the whole point of Uncle Ulty.

I would say Umaro. The scene where he gets drunk and burns down South Figaro had me in stitches!

I actually think Edgar is the main comic relief character. At least he made me laugh.

Sabin fills the role for me. He's more brawls than brains. I always snigger when I bring him to the opera.

Ultros and Kefka, by far. They are genuinely entertaining rather than goofy.

Ultros clearly.He is goofy all the time but there are other characters who are also comic reliefs. I think complete list of comic reliefs goes like this:

Ultros, without a doubt :p

It's definitely Ultros, but my favorite quote is;

"Do you think a small thing like the end of the world was going to keep me down"

Or something like that.

I was going to say either of the brothers Edgar and Sabin are the main comic reliefs.

BUT then someoe mentioned Ultros who of course IS the comic relief. Ted Woolsey gets so much stick, but he pretty much made that character.

I think the comedy aspect is the only thing Woolsey did well in that game. The rest of the game's translation is horrible.

Just wondering, are you talking about the SNES, PS1, GBA or ROM version of FFVI? Was confused for a moment after that Chocobo ran by. -.- lol

But in all, Ultros I'd agree is the comic relief, he made me laugh the hardest in the GBA one.

Definetly for me. Besides being one hell of an interesting character, his funny moments happen to be my favorite moments out of FFVI. I'd put Locke up there too- never found Ultros to be that great.

Like Kawaii said before though, all of the characters can be funny and have their moments.
