I was just wondering what every bodys favorite non FF RPG is?
I think mine are A ESIV:OBLIVION, and the ocarina of time if you would call that an rpg it might be an action adventure since theres no leveling or anything

Off the top of my stupid looking hat I'd say Shadow Hearts: Covenant.
The first one was good but left more to be desired, and the third one, while it had some improvements mechanically, wasn't as interesting of entertaining storywise. Plus the voice acting is meh.
I think KOTOR 2 and Xenogears had the most profound impacts on me. Good stuff..
Xenogears for me. It had such a deep story, with great character backgrounds and a pretty good battle system.
I'd be hard pressed to name a single RPG I like most, after all all the games I own and play are liked by me. Some RPGs have had massive influence on me and others have just been merely enjoyable. I would definitely put FFVIII and the Fallout saga up there alongside Mass Effect for without Mass Effect and Fallout 3 I wouldn't have bothered getting Oblivion (I didn't like how clunky my pure unadulterated Morrowind played) Front Mission 3 gave me a huge liking for the SRPG genre since everything about that game from it's infuriatingly difficult battles and it's extensive customisation options just sucked me right in.
fallout three is a good one
Tri-Ace anything.
might sound dumb but whats that
If you are one of the ignorant masses who has not yet played Fallout and Fallout 2 then I implore you to acquire these games by any means and play them because they're fantastic you can see Fallout 1 was pretty "basic" by todays sprawling standards but think back to the time when that game was new it's HUGE Fallout 2 imho is still pretty damn huge by todays standards and well worth playing.
I'd also throw in that Suidoken series and Star Ocean RPGs are very good.
Everyone will hate me but I think Suikoden 3.
What was wrong with Suikoden 3, I like it.
My favorite is Digital Devil Saga, both of them.
i like maple story much, but what a pity, i am not good at it. i cant play well and make much more maple story mesos by myself. so i had to spend my money to buy from a site, one site i went is ugamegold. now i play the game everyday, i want to become a super player in the game. on that day, i will make lots of mesos by myself and then i sell to others.lol i can make real money.:bounce:
off the top of my head i reckon suikoden 2 and breath of fire 3 are joint 1st
Its a shame that the only reason why people forgive Suikoden 3 is because Suikoden 4 was a bit more of a step back for the series (seriously, people need to stop trying to compete with Final Fantasy on its terms) but even that is bull cause Suikoden 3 had an excellent plot and cast of characters. Its story telling was truly something to behold and I wish more games would try it. The games' cinematography was exquisite and blew the hell out of anything SE was spewing out back then. :roll2
Also... I like your choices. :D
Personally, I can't really decide on one particular game. I could list a dozen off the top of my head and be unable to choose which I love more than the rest. Persona 3, Xenogears, Final Fantasy Tactics, Chrono Trigger, Shin Megami Tensei 3: Nocturne, Vagrant Story, Suikoden and Final Fantasy VI just to name a few...
FFIX.
^ non final fantasy RPG
Shining Force II
Oh sorry. Well this will be a hard one. I haven't played much outside of FF I played Legaia 2, Chrono Trigger (Which I'm mad about because I have yet to beat it)
Arc the Lad Twilight of the Spirits, Super Mario RPG,
Pokemon Blue, Yellow, Silver
Is Threads of Fate an RPG?
I'm not sure here. None of these make me feel anything close to FFIX.
Phantasy Star II
Baldur's Gate, I think.
People usually give me hell for preferring Suiko3 over 2, but it's all crazay in their heads.
^ Nice! Golden Sun is an amazing game (II as well) and I haven't seen enough of Chrono Trigger in here.
For me I'd say the two aforementioned, Parasite Eve, Legend of Dragoon, Star Ocean series, and Zelda. There are a lot more, but that would take a lot of space.
Chrono Trigger!
Persona 4!!!!! Despite the battle system being kinda flawed, the story was AMAZING!!!
The beautiful game that caused this to happen, somewhere in time:

Kingdom Hearts, if it counts. I love the series.
Elsewise, maybe Persona 3 or 4, though I have finished neither. :/
Suikoden series.
Breath of Fire III.
Vandal Hearts series.
Star Ocean series.
Pokemon Blue without a doubt.
Oh snap, I forgot I played KH why nobody reminded me?
i have yet to beat P3 either and I can't judge something i haven't played enough. I think I have probably spent the most in with Kingdom Hearts and KHII than most of those except for maybe Pokemon Blue, so if I would have to choose I think it would be Kingdom Hearts II.
Legend of Dragoon, Vagrant Story and Mario RPG
I really like Fable one and two. And a more complicated one that I like is Fallout 3.
It is very awesome, indeed. (:
Chrono Trigger is my fav. Then there would have to be
Breath of Fire 2 (I think it's an awesome game)
Pokemon Gold/Silver/Crystal (screw the remakes, they just want your money)
Valkyrie Profile
Xenogears ( I need to finish this.)
Vagrant Stroy (I need to finish this too.)
mmmm
Kingdom Hearts and KH2
...I think that's it.
Oh, and Stranded Kids (Survival Kids in some places).
One of the most original RPGs I've ever played. Actually was it even an RPG?
Pokémon, c'mon lol
Radiata Stories is probably the only game I have played more than 200 hours on.:D
And Chrono Trigger is also amazing!!!
Wait, I changed my mind to Mass Effect.
Off the top of my head, Chrono Trigger, Legend of Legaia and Might and Magic 7
If you count Mass Effect: Mass Effect! If you don't count that sort of game as an RPG: Eh. Lost Odyssey is okay, as is Grandia. Pokémon games are good, too.
>>> Valkyrie Profile has always been my fav RPG, it even tops any FF game out there..
Kingdom hearts 1+2! I loved them both very much (still do)
Also Fable 2, Infinate Undescovery and persona 4 :D
I have a bunch of favorites. Right now they are
- Chrono Trigger
- Final Fantasy VI
- Final Fantasy IX
- Persona 3 FES
- Secret of Mana (Seiken Densetsu 2)
- Super Mario RPG Legend of the Seven Stars
Dragon Quest 5 really resonated hardcore with me at this point in my life. Shiren the Wanderer is also notable for being the RPG that changed how I looked at RPGs.
Hard for me to choose between FFVII and ESIV: Oblivion.
Legend of Zelda, Golden Sun, Tales of Symphonia/Vesperia...
Chrono Trigger&Cross.
Delicious.
