Blonde rivals are never nice people.
I can kinda see it. Both of them are irritating "rivals" to the lead character. Both appear to have strong connections to the overall plot leading to an ultimate showdown. Both "Ultimate Showdowns" were somewhat lackluster. Neither of them ever attain their full potentials in their respected plots.
I feel the difference is that I can sorta respect Seifer.

The only thing even slightly respectable about Seifer is the fact he can take his utter defeat and all the mistakes he made and shrug it off and go fishing when all is said and done. He don't let nothing bother him.Quote:

Except you know, Seifer actually had guts, and wasn't wholly despicable.
Well, Draco wasn't wholly despicable. ;) But, Seifer was at least reasonably respectful of his rival. I thought it was really sweet that he clapped for Zell and Squall when they were made SeeDs, even if they were "a chicken-wuss and a boy who just went through puberty."
No dissing Seifer :D

Anyway, I can't say I hate Seifer, to be honest I really liked him as an antagonist and rival for Squall but he just never really amounted to anything in the story. He joins the mind controlled Edea and helps Ulty, free Adel but he basically becomes a mere lackey and I really felt there was a lot more to him. The first Disc really built him up and I sorta feel he just never lived up to his true potential. I kinda had a similar feeling for Malfoy which is why I can see the comparison.

The title of this thread is true. Both of them were all-bark-and-no-bite spoiled-brat losers. Only talk, but when the time came, lost to their rivals patheticaly.
At least Harry and Malfoy's rivalry wasn't one-sided like Squall and Seifer's. Squall never saw Seifer as a rival or even a threat, and neither did I.
Ultimecia(impersonating Edea or not), Adel, and even Norg, were more respectable villains than him.
Ah, and the majority of Seifer and Malfoy's fanbase is composed of yaoi fangirls.
