The first reply

When I read a popular blog and I take a look at the comments, the first reply is often something so stupid. Most of the time, it goes something like this. "1ST!!!!" or something similar 99% of the time. Only rarely do I see a meaningful fist reply comment. I want to think that I understand why people have to shout out "first!" every time, but the truth is, I don't.

What do you think? Why do people always have the need to claim first post/comment on these blog comments? Would you do the same if given the chance? Why or why not?

in all seriousness it's the internet
so everyone expects this to one day be unearthed by societies
who will see the progression of comments on an otherwise unworthy comic or whatever the crap its bloggin about
and think 'cute_angel69x' must have been an important member of society since they were allowed to voice their opinion and give approval before everyone else

and will thus be immortalized in the cockroach hall of history fame as leader of humans between 1980 - 3000

'1st' only matters in forums so over-populated with n33bs that it's an actual accomplishment.

First! Joking, see I did not do the * before and after

Well if I *Shock Horror* get to post first I just put whatever I say in the reply, something related to it in the title like I always do, then just put two *First!* things surrounding the title like this:

*First!* Replying to Threads are always such a piece of **** *First!*

Simples. It's understated, won't annoy many people and I enjoy the 0.1 second of slight enjoyment of being the first out of 1000+ members to reply first.

P.S: Just thought Of a neat idea that would most probably be never implemented.

Why don't the member who replyed first to threads the most get the "Agent Pronto" award and have it in their small bit underneath their name?
