You Have Just Lost The Game

I guess I'll make an more optimistic thread for a change.

(People stare down at my thread title) I'm working on becoming optimistic okay? Give me some slack. :sweatdrop

So how many of you play (or at least know about) the game?

You know, the one you lose by thinking about it.

The Rules: (at least, I think these are the rules)
- You are always playing the game.
- You must not think about the game. Otherwise, you lose.
- When you lose, you must say aloud that you lost the game.
- The object of the game is to get everyone playing the game.
- By the way, YOU LOST THE GAME!!

I remember last year in the lounge, every time someone used the computer in there, they'd always complain that they'd lose the game. The background was literally completely white except for the black text that said "YOU JUST LOST THE GAME".

I first heard of the game in high school in my AP European history class. We were answering questions to a study gaming we had in the class when someone just shouted loudly that they had lost "the game" while we all blankly stared at him. Of course I soon found out what it was all about. and thus i've been doomed to randomly spout the same thing.

It's kind of fun to confuse people about it though :)

Many people post this thread in many forums, many times. I think this should be stickied, if not to stop repetition then because it would be really, really funny.

The Game has spread throughout my school quite well now. Actually, I've heard people out and about losing The Game. It's quite entertaining to see the reach of the internet. I used to get angry about losing The Game, but I figure I've got a lot more losses to come.

I lose an average of 4 times a day on a school day, maybe once on a weekend (makes no sense because I'm online more often on weekends). That still means a lot of losses before I die.

I heard about The Game when I was in Cambodia - I talked about it with some people in a bar, and that's about all I've had to do with The Game.

What is this, 2000? "The Game" is a very old, tired meme. Let it die in peace.

I and my friends play the game so that you only lose it if you think of it on your own, and nobody else reminds you about it. There's just no point or fun otherwise.

Yeah well, you lose at the game of hide and seek you didn't know we were playing. Yeah!

I never heard it until I got to college. I try my best to ignore it :D

I think this sounds much more pleasant.

I play a game where you win every time you lose the game you are speaking of in the original post. So every time I lose one game, I win another. Evens out nicely that way. You guys should play it, it's easy.

Really, though, Shlup's on the ball and I follow suit. The whole concept is stupid.

I play The Game because it's just a freaking game. Anybody who has any strong feelings whatsoever about a game needs to reevaluate their life. Then kill themselves anyway.

I'm gonna start a facebook group called MAYBE IF WE GET 10,000,000 MEMBERS PEOPLE WILL STOP PLAYING "THE GAME"!!!!!!!!! PLZ INVITE ALL UR FREINDS!!!

I pretend rage at losing, but it doesn't really bother me at all. It's just silly. :p I hang around the geeks in uni, so they all have The Game going on, so I get faced with it every now and again.
