That didn't stop me from buying the PSN release of FFVII though. :D
Hmmm, I may get this. FFVIII isn't one of my favorites, but the battle system/card game would be a great time killer on the go.
Awesome! Can't wait to see more Square games get on to PSN (like FFIX, Chrono Cross, etc.).
As PSP games are region free, does that mean a European would be able to buy it?
I don't know how that works exactly, except for I think you'd have to have a US PSN account to get it.
This is awesome news. I love the game, but Triple Triad will be a great time killer too. My second favorite mini-game next to Blitzball. :D
I would hope so, I'm pretty sure people got the Japanese version of FFVII when it wasn't out yet in the US, I would look that up before you try.
But yeah, as long as you make a US account you should be good to go.
I'm a sucker for this. I own the games, but having them as PSP games, for 9.99, is a great thing.
Hopefully It'll come to Europe at the same time, if not then I'll resort to making a US PSN account, because I am definitely getting this.
Well it's officially out today. I'm already downloading it. Can't wait to play it on my PSP.

I have to agree with this. A lot of the problems with VIII's graphics gets ironed out when it gets squeezed to the smaller screen with lower resolution. The objects don't look nearly as jagged or pixelated as they do on my PS1 or PC version.Quote:

It just sucks that playing them on an HDTV with a ps3, even with smoothing on, has the complete opposite effect. some games with 2d elements like FFTactics look better, but VII and VIII sure could use the "God of War Collection" treatment.
Maybe they should do this for IX before it comes out... that or a firmware patch, get some of the best and brightest on this thing and improve their emulator.

I kind of wish they'd released trophies with this (and FFVII on PSN). I've more or less 100%'d both games but would do it again with trophies just because I'm a massive whore.
yeah kind of a shame they didn't add trophies for the release of VII and VIII didn't stop me from buying it and playing it again on PS3 though, hopefully IX will shortly follow.

Trophies are awesome and who knows it might happen one day. But Final Fantasy is just one of those games that are to great to NEED trophies to give you the desire to complete every challenge everything possible.
I don't think they can release trophies for them, they're essentially the original PSOne file running on an emulator in the PS3, and not a great one at that. I love my PS3, but let's be honest here:
there's emulators out there that can make these older games look even better than they originally did on your computer screen. Computer screens are a lot higher-resolution than HDTV's. So there's really no reason the PS3 can't have a half-way decent emulator to not make the games look so jaggy on an HDTV.
BACK TO trophies... b/c it's just the PSOne file, you can't add trophies into things like that. I suppose what would have to happen is for the game to be packaged as a PSN game instead of a PSOne classic. I'd personally like it to happen, my player/trophy level would shoot up from all the classics I'd be playing.
