I've just come this realization:

At this rate, I'll probably send just as many Private Messages here, as I will make posts. I used to empty my PM receipts every once and a while. Starting 8-15-2007, a little longer than a year's time after my joining of this forum, I stopped and used the receipts as a counter of the amount of PM's I've sent.

I joined the forum in June 2006, it's now Jan. 2010. That's about 42 months ago. I've made about 9636 posts, divide that by 42 and you get an approximate post per month: ~229.57... Now let's take out the 13 months I didn't keep track of my PM's from my posts

~229.57...*13 = 2982.5

Subtract from my ~9636

9636-2983 = 6653
I have 6,184 confirmed private message receipts. That's pretty dang close to a 1 to 1 ratio!

Can you approximate YOUR private message to post ratio?

Over five years, this is 346 posts per month, 11.5 posts per day.
Over five years, this is 5.4 PMs sent per day. However, it's important to remember that my PM count has only gone up by about 1000 in the last year and a half. The mass majority of my PMs were sent in a one year period from august 2005 to august 2006. Assuming half of my PMs were sent in that time, that becomes 13.4 PMs per day.

Accounting for deleted PMs, I probably have close to 2000 PMs. Accounting for pruned/missing posts, I probably have about 12,000. So only a 1:6 ratio for me.

I probably make, like... 3 posts a month, maximum (maybe a few more on especially active months!), and send less private messages. Although I still have to reply to Rantzien. (I haven't forgotten you! :aimkiss:)

Let's see. Before I was staffed I maxed out my box once, where I cleaned out a few hundred messages. Now, I have 1502, so I've probably had about 2000 in all. I'm close to 9100 posts overall, so it's a bit over a 1:4 ratio, I guess. To be honest I prefer it if people catch me on MSN or something over PM, so the number is less because of that.

I'm constantly clearing out my PM box since I don't have unlimited PMs storage anymore and a huge chunk of my box is devoted to EoY submissions. Right now, I have 1,402 PMs.

So it would seem that it would be a bit under a 15:1 ratio, if I did that correctly. Either way, I don't PM much, and I post a lot.

I've sent close to 2000 PMs over the last two years, and I've made almost 3000 posts. So it's more or less a 3:2 ratio.

Disclosing any of this information risks showing how pitiful my post count is, and proving that nobody loves me enough to PM me. Usernotes on the other hand, I can do that.

I likely have close to 2000 PM's altogether including the ones I deleted.

I have 9609 posts as of now, registered since Jan '06. I currently have 408 PMs in my inbox/outbox. I've had to clear the damn thing 6 times at about 900 PMs.

So that's 9609/(408+6*900)
Which equals 1.65 posts to PMs. PMs to post is 1/1.65, which equals .606.

I actually only looked at the post, saw numbers and that, and came to this conclusion.
