In light of last year's thread, I decided to make an exact replica for this year!
So I came back about a month ago and have just been slowing plowing away at things. Here's a small list of some accomplishments:
- Got 6/6 Warrior Relic (includes accessory piece)
- Got SMN to Lv.40
- Got BLM to Lv.65 (first chigoe party!)
- Got some Ares pre-req gear (Lv.35 legs, Lv.25 head and hands)
- Got a few claims on King Artho but no drop :(

Got a Mirage mantle and my first two CoP dynamis wins! One to go (Valkurm)!
Stuff so far this year?
- Completed Chains of Promathia up to CoP4-2.
- Obtained Mirage Jubbah and Keffiyeh.
- SCH level 75.
- Started a Nyzul Isle Investigation climb static group.
Maybe I'm forgetting something! We'll see later!
Actually restarted playing and have completed a few quests and currently working on getting Rank 2.
I'm also hoping to level up enough to get my sub-job and some Bone Gear. :plumcheer:
Well I got 3/3 on Ares Legs, just waiting for my linkshell to send me the materials! *so excited*
Finally beat ASA. We wiped on D. Shantotto at like 40%. After trying again half the team wiped on D. Shantotto at 8%. It was up to me, a SAM and a WHM to finish her off and then trio Shantotto. Well, the other WHM was able to reraise and heal a little in double weakness state. Epic battle.
Also beat What Price Loyalty. Been so busy I haven't even collected the rewards from either of these yet.
I still need to finish A Shantotto Ascension. I was thinking of getting nuking pants for RDM and SCH (INT+2, "Magic Atk. Bonus"+4, Magic Accuracy+4), but I'm beginning to wonder about the adverse effects on my dINT. As a tarutaru, I imagine INT-6 (compared to mahatma slops) is probably a fair trade off for "Magic Atk. Bonus"+4 and Magic Accuracy+4.
I don't know what my second slot will be. Getting movement speed definitely. I'll never get crimson legs.
I always thought Physical Damage Taken-4% would be the best compliment for the movement speed pants. If they're movement speed, the only time you should be wearing them is when you're in combat, so damage reduction would be a good choice. Alternatively, you could stick the HP+25, Enmity+4 on there as well and macro them in on your PLD for flash and provoke.
Actually I want them more for general running around town. I hate how slow characters move in this game. Also I'm getting them for BLU, so I might get the cure potency instead for Fruits.
If my LS wants me to kite stuff as PLD they can let me lot crimson legs. :p
Got my DRK to 30. Now I've only got one job under 30... BST. Working on that next and then all of my jobs make their trek to 40, which should be a lot more fun.
Beat Howl from the Heavens and saw one of the most epic cutscenes in the game.
Also got my first real piece of Homam: feet. Probably the best upgrade of the pieces for me since I've been using Denali.

Finally got all jobs to 30.
Got caught up in all the new wotg missions while other people are wasting their time killing 300 crabs in lightning weather or whatever. That last one...what a pain. The CS are awesome though especially the ones at Throne Room.
It's not a waste of time, sir. There's some awesome augmented weapons to be had.
Relic weapons are also awesome, but I also consider them a waste of time!
That's an unfair comparison. You suck. :(
Imagine spending all that time to get a relic, and now having to go slay 500 bees with a particular weapon skill in order to make it slightly better. Oh SE you're so silly.
If you spend that much time on a relic, you'd be stupid if you didn't spend a little extra time slaying 500 bees.
But in either case, your logic sucks. Kthnxbai.
(Btw. DMG+7 on a relic weapon is not "slightly better", it's a huge improvement.)
To be honest I'm mostly trolling you (no longer restricted by the shackles of a staff title). It is a big improvement. :p

Got Ares's feet, Morrigan's legs and Marduk's head from Salvage. :) Still no luck with Ares's body, but I'm next on the list for it!
Obtained argute pants today (DEF:27 HP+15 MP+15 INT+5 Dark magic skill+7 Enmity-2) which completes my set of SCH AF2. It's also the first job I have a full set of AF2 for (4/5 on RDM and BLU).
So this week I got Homam legs, Koenig head, and a Genbu shield. Pretty nice haul. :)

Obtained Mirage Bazubands. That makes me 5/5 BLU. Second job 5/5 before RDM...
I still need the feet, though I do have the -1 feet...

Got NIN to level 45. Trying to anticpate the eventual subjob cap of 49 (for level 99), so 4 levels to go. I don't know if I'll take all my subjobs (THF WAR RDM DNC WHM) that high but I'll at least do NIN, since it's easy as hell to level and I sub it 90% of the time for PLD and BLU. RDM looks interesting so I'll probably do that next, though it will be hard because I hate being the healer, and in fact soloed RDM and WHM to 37 to avoid playing that role.
Also Sandoria captured the Throne Room in the past so I gots an Allied Ring! 45,000 free exp!
Same thing happened on Quetz. Got my Allied Ring for 22,500 AN. Convincing myself to hold onto it for when the level cap rises. We'll see how long I can hold out before I pop that baby for some merits.Quote:

You can't stack them, but you can use it back-to-back-to-back. I should use mine to finish up my subs. My BLM is at 45 right now (and I'll probably leave it there for a while since I don't imagine we'll go past level 90 until December's final update anyway). I'm not entirely convinced that I'll need WHM past level 80 (I imagine /SCH will eclipse it), but I should level it past 41 regardless. NIN is my primary concern, but I think I'm just going to try and get in an astral burn for that :bou::bou::bou::bou: anyway.
This would really, really help me finish up my merits before the level cap, though. I need four more merit points to finish up RDM group II merits (don't really care about the additional magic accuracy from group I, and for a taru convert recast timer is a joke), and I still need 20 more points to finish up SCH merits. Then there's elemental magic, MP, and some other assorted things... ugh!
Got Homam hands, just need the feet now. :)
Got NIN to level 49...and now I will never play it again.
RDM is next, which will be hard, because I hate playing healer.
Finally got BLM to 75.
Got to level 40 on RDM without having to be a healer once. Melee RDM all the way!
After fourteen months of not seeing the damn thing drop, duelist's tabard is in my possession (even if they sneakily changed the lotting rules for snow zones which let somebody lot against me for it).
smurfing finally.
Got SMN to 75 and since then a bajillion merit points (I'd say around 50-60 just from astral burning).
My 2010 accomplishments:
Early February: Soft-quit. Just stopped playing, never cancelled subscription.
Mid June: Logged in for the first time since February.
Now: Gone from CoP 3-5 to 6-1 in the last 4 days with the help of Jibril. Leveled sam to 45 to prepare me for the grind to WAR80+ (Duo with the aforementioned dude all the way). Sold a lot of old crap to get money. Acquired Ground Strike and Impulse Drive WSes on WAR (no, i don't have DRK or DRG anywhere near where they can use it :p).
Got Marduk head. :)
Got 80PLD and 80SMN and 78WAR.
Will most likely quit the game soon.

I haven't even tried to exp, really, lol. I'm more just sick of the game's core design and how greedy/selfish a lot of people have become this late in to the game.
You haven't tried to exp? How did you get all those level 80s then?

Also beat the Windurst and Bastok WoTG storylines. Bastok was ok, Winy was epic. The fights for both were pretty easy but the questing parts were brutal. Yay for useless rings I can't even use! I'm behind on Sandoria, still need Blood of Heroes.

Use it with aspir when BLU/SCH. Infinite MP just got more infinite (conundrum!).
Obtained my Lu Shang's fishing rod yesterday. Fished ~6,000 carp before I wanted to kill myself; bought the rest because I didn't want to have wasted the time. Sold the rod for 2,800,8000 G. Also Omecle and I just sold a pair of Cloud Evokers, making over 1,600,000 G between us. I am now in the market to buy a pair of wyrmal abjuration: legs.

Finally got one of those awesome Abyssea parties. Got level 80, capped exp to 81, and even gained 2 merits, all in about 3 hours, and I still exited with more time than I entered with. :o

Only 4 jobs left under level 40. Got RDM and NIN there recently (necessary BRD subs). DNC next since I love using BRD/DNC for casual stuff solo/duo stuff.
Once the wife and I get our remaining jobs to 40 I'll finish my DRG from 55-60 and then we'll start picking pairs to go from 40-60 so we can start collecting some AF.
Abyssea with LS tomorrow. No doubt I'll finally get BRD from 76 to 80.
Got to lv. 15 then was killed and sent back to 14. :( Luckily it shouldn't take that long to get back to level 15. Have half the loot needed for the Fetish Quest in Bastok, I don't feel like I'm doing terribly bad for trying this all solo. Even if I can't go into the lower parts of the mines. :)
Achieved Rank 2 and close to level 16. Once I upgrade my WAR to his Bone gear equipment at 16 I'm changing jobs, either MNK or RDM.

War80 a few weeks ago, Finally done with nin for good (49) and gotten sam to 50. whm 49 (taking it all the way).

Level 80 PLD. :D Not that I ever use it, but it was fun to get. Phalanx is pretty cool.
Not sure which gear to upgrade on PLD. Most of it seems debateable or not too much better than what I have (currently wear a combination of Homam/Iron Ram most of the time). HP is always an issue for Taru PLD so I don't know if I can sacrifice it for the other stats.
BLU 85! New spells are pretty sick. :o
Singing, Wind and Evasion skill merited to max. I also managed to get an Aristo Belt and Mesmeric Cape recently.

85war about two days after the update, lost my soul and gave in to the darkness, started a magian trial. Almost done with a Sumeru +1 (WS damage).
got 8 dagger merits for my up and coming thf. that's about it, i guess

It's 2011 but who cares. Just got the map of Hu'Xzoi which means I now have every map in the game (except two from battlefield events no one does anymore so I count those as impossible).
Also, I guess I didn't post this, but a couple months ago I beat Wings of the Goddess. The final was pretty epic but not as epic as the other storylines. Still, it was good to finally finish this expansion.
Now there is officially nothing left for me to accomplish in this game.
So all those nubs who were like "you can't finish final fantasy 11 it's a MMORPG it doesn't have an end" have now been bitch slapped by your supremacy?

You can finish the storylines, for sure. I guess that could be considered 'beating it'. But there are tons of other stuff you could always do. For example, I never:
- Completed a set of AF3
- Beat all the Abyssea bosses and caturae to get access to Shinryu
- Completed the Salvage event
- Completed the Einherjar event
- etc.
So in that sense you can never really 'beat it' since new events are always being created. But that's more like sidequests to me, like the FFXIII marks.
I was under the impression defeating the caturae and defeating Shinryu was a storyline.
I guess it counts as the Abyssea storyline. It sucks though. Even the scenarios were better. I'm 6/9 & 4/6 so maybe I'll go back and finish it some day. I'm just not into it at all and could care less about the people of Abyssea.
