Supposedly they could not be healed because they were turned to stone by their own free will (i.e. you can only be healed when you didn't do it to yourself) (i.e. Square couldn't think of a real way to prevent their stone so they came up with a weak excuse).
Tellah tried. I thought it was nice that they actually followed that angle up in game.
It was something like 'they can't be cured because they turned themselves into stone'
It'd ruin the plot (for that moment) if they did get healed, though!
I was really pissed of when (SPOILER)they came back at the end of the game. Really ruined the whole importance of their sacrifice.Quote:

I didn't really think so. Does every sacrifice have to involve dying?
Yes.
How lame. :-/
Was it explained how (SPOILER) they came back? I thought it was the Elder prayed for them to come back. That sounds like a lazy loop
Yes, yes it is.Quote:

I felt that it really cheapened the sacrifice.Quote:

Children cannot die.
(tm)Nintendo.
There is a Nintendo outside of America? Holy :bou::bou::bou::bou:!:huffy:
I was wonder what other 'people' played their Squaresofts on.
I was sad the first time I played through and they did that. :(
I still didn't think it was a cheap sacrifice at all. Even if they did get healed, they did not have that intention.
To me, it's kind of like a significant other who stays by your side all night when you're sick, and ends up getting sick as well trying to make sure you were taken care of.
FFIV was really bad with ruining its great moments. Like when Cid jumped off the airship and EXPLODED and then FELL INTO THE UNDERWORLD, and then he was fine, just needed some best rest, that makes everything better. Everything. :eep:
Yeah, I will admit that that was pretty lousy. But seriously, who liked Cid anyway? :p
Go ahead. I'll be here when you come back.... a couple days from now.
fusoya's beard was better
What annoyed me most is that when you examined them after, it would open up the Items menu and i remember I tried EVERYTHING, convinced there was a way to change them back.
Despite all kinds of rumors about a "Basilisk's Fang" and the like, the item window only opens so you can try using Golden Needles on them and be reminded of that same line explaining why that won't work.
Oooooh, haha, I have a terrible memory. I guess I must have just tried Golden Needle and was irked it didn't work and blew it up in my mind to something grandeose. Haha. :D
You needed to use Esunaga. Tellah thought that was a stupuid spell and never bothered to learn it. :p
ESUnaga. Sounds like a University for the Naga.
Or is the Naga the mascot for the dyslexic Enix-Square University?
Whre I do rollen?
(Why couldn't Palom and Porom be healed by Esuna?)
They were just that stoned.
