Who had the best "death?"

These are in no particular order!

Tellah The one and only actual main character that stayed dead. He died exacting his revenge upon Golbez with Meteo. It killed him of course, and not Golbez. It was way too early in the game to end it there! How sad. :'(

Yang This was a little farther in the game. Apparently he knew what he was doing at some computer console thingie or whatever. Argh my memory is fuzzy. He locks you out of a computer room and it explodes. He turns up later being helped by fairies or some shiz. Touching. :'(

Cid Ok check out this badass SOB right here. HE HAS A HAMMER. HE WEARS GOGGLES 24/7. EVEN UNGERGROUND. HE JUMPS OF AN AIRSHIP (EVEN UNDERGROUND, OFF AN UNDERGROUND AIRSHIP) WITH A BOMB BECAUSE HE'S TOO BADASS TO BE SMART AND THROW IT OFF. I guess you could say there was a detonator on the bomb, not a timer. Although they had airships that could fly underground so I'm sure they could have created a time-bomb. He ends up surviving. He's actually not even that badass what the hell am I talking about haha. Tragic. :'(

Palom & BLANK The frontsite didn't have the picture for Porom. Might have to do something about that later. So anyway it's your typical death hallway type scene where the walls are going to crush you, so they turn themselves into stone to stop them. It was actually quite cool when I was a kid. Man I love this game. They get un-petrified, like, right before you fight the last boss. *sniffle* :'(

I'm pretty sure that's all of them! Which "death" was most memorable or touching? I played hardtype when I was a kid so they were all the most emotional things evar.

I'm going to go with Tellah, as he is the only one who stayed dead, despite Cid's moment of leaving the party being the most bad ass.
As I let everyone know at any opportunity, bringing them all back really cheapened their 'deaths' for me. Made it seem like so much more of a cliche 'happily ever after' story.

Palom and Porom's 'death' upset me the most, perhaps because they were the youngest and had so much ahead of them and so on. Plus they're sitting there as statues for so long, I kept going back to Baron to mess with them and try to unpetrify them. There were so many rumors about secret items that could do it, and without the internet to verify it drove me crazy!

It was very impressive that two five-year-olds would be disciplined and mature enough to sacrifice their own lives for the greater good when the need arose, and without a second thought. It was especially touching when Porom said, "We would've followed you forever, Cecil."

Oops. I mean Tellah. Awesome old man using his life force to cast the most powerful spell in the world. Dang sweet way to go.

Cid. He threw himself off an airship with a smurfing bomb. That takes guts.

I'd have to go with Cid. Not only does he throw himself of a airship in mid air with a bomb. But in another scene you're first left of to belive he is dead but it turns out he's just sleeping. :cool:

I was upset when Palom and Porom got turned into statues. I sort of got attached to them. They were pretty mature for little kids, though.
I kinda laughed when Cid jumped off with the bomb. I don't know, it was just epic!

Cid, it helps that the first time I got that far it was on a fan translation and they through in something when he jumped. Plus he managed to survive the explosion AND the fall.

Palom and Porom. Their death was better than all the other deaths combined.

Mom Bomb, boom!

Really Cid.

Either Cid or Yang... Nope, Cid's was the most epic.

I'm gonna have to go with Cid here, he jumped of a freakin' airship to save the party. Now that's epicness to the max!

Definitely the twins for me. Man I love those kids.

Using it terms of sacrifice, then, I go with the twins, because they're KIDS of all people.
Cid comes in second, jumping off of an airship

It would have to be Tellah's for me. Throughout most of the game, he's so adamant on getting revenge on Golbez for Anna's death. He also learns about all the other people that were harmed through Golbez's actions (like Rosa and the twins), and sets his mind on avenging them as well. The really sad thing is, his sacrifice barely does anything, and he's the only one who truly dies. The only noteworthy thing his sacrifice did was free Kain's mind of Golbez's control. Also, his sacrifice was the only one that wasn't completely noble, since he did it mostly out of revenge, and he only realizes his mistake during his last moments. I found Tellah's death to be the most touching, so I guess that's also the one I find the best.

On a side note, I'll always find everyone fighting the Giant of Babil to be one of the most epic moments in FFIV (tied with everyone praying for and reviving Cecil's team). I don't care if people think it was silly that everyone came back from the dead to help Cecil and friends (technically only the twins and maybe Yang did). The fact that Cecil had touched and helped every one of them, and they all joined forces to help him out at the most hopeless of moments, made that part of the story extremely memorable to me.

Tellah. Using a spell to get revenge knowing that it will kill you is pretty epic.

I was totally expecting Tellah to have a an epiphany and decide to not sacrifice his life for revenge. It is a credit to the story that he actually carried through with it, showing not all character sub-stories have happy endings.

I loved Palom and Porom's Death... in a good sense of the word... It's not that I am happy about their death xd... I mean, the moment was beautiful... they were children and had a whole great future waiting for them, but they decided to give their lives for the lives of their friends and the future of other people... It's not a thing that kids are typically deciding, you know, they are more likely to be defended by others and to be hiding or crying in a situation like this... Anyways, the moment can still be cliché, but it was beautiful... and very touching...

Tellah's death was epic too...

Well... If I'm remembering correctly, Tellah did, and Edge fathers too.

In terms of the coolest way to go, I would have to say Tellah, purely because sacrificing your life to cast the ultimate spell is (as many have said before me) quite epic.
In terms of which "death" was the most touching, I would have to say Palom and Porom because it was a very sad moment. I was thinking "NO, DON'T DO IT", then they did it and I cried on the inside.

if only Tellah could've cast meteo on Edward instead of Golbez.....

I think their death scenes lost all the emotion when you find out that almost all of them never really died at all. The ruining of their epic death scenes is actually more tragic than Tellah's sacrifice. If not for that then probably the twins for the win. Hard to beat what would appear to be two children dying in a game made for younger audiences.

What about Rydia and Edward! Theirs kinda sucked, though.

The graphical limitations of the game prevent me from understanding what, exactly, happened to Edward that rendered him so helpless.

Edward seemed to have been shivering before the attack and collapsed before the boat was destroyed. He washed ashore near the coast of Troia, yet he is in much worse shape than Cecil who washed ashore in heavy armor.

Definitely Cecil, who jumps off a plane with a bomb like that and lives!? :eek:

Plus, every time I see that scene, I think of the first few lyrics to "Love Lost in a Hail of Gunfire" by Bleeding Through (metal FTW!)

Are you talking about Cecil or Cid?

I love that in the DS remake, they made Cid's bomb look like the thermal detonator from Return of the Jedi.

For the sake of saying it the King of Baron had a crappy death... but his afterlife is cool lol "Oh I died I think Ill go be Odin now ok? Ok!"

As for "death" I would have to go with the twins cuz as cool as jumping off a airship is he had some corny lines while doing so and I just never liked Cid.

But the twins who were such good chars... I was sad to loose em
